@tewster that is phosphorus, not phosphors. that's close to the original experiment Brand ran; he discovered the element. Brand was an alchemist. He was expecting to find gold, which occurs in it's elemental form in the earth so the people alive back then were aware of it's existence (because they could dig it up). Brand had no idea what phosphorus was and so it was an entirely new discovery. There are far easier methods to produce it than boiling down thousands of lites of pee for a few grams.
1000 hour lifetime - less than 2 months. This is the problem that always stops ELM from being useful. Kudos at knowing it's the water migration issue that kills it.

also found online how to homebrew phosphor using some common or garden chemicals, involves some nasty gases but its doable.
