Think of this people.

She comes to America and gets a few thousand from smuggling drugs. The U.S. economy is in the toilet. Her relative living in New York is living in a shit hole. How much better was it for her to come here? She might have, at best, a 5% chance of making it with a kid and a good job that pays a little above minimum wage. The reality is that she will live on welfare. It would have been better for her to stay in her "own country" with her boyfriend willing to care for her.

you are so typical for someone who hasen't seen it firsthand. My parents came here with nothing on their back, dad got sent home, mom stayed here with gave birth to me , 25+ years later. I have a Bachelor's and Masters Degree in Applied Physics Engineering. You see, it doesn't matter if you are living off welfare, what matters most is more oppurtunites. If my mom would have stayed home, i would probably be in columbia.

i have relatives living in other countries that are perfectly happy with their lives and don't even want to visit the USA.  ...and why didn't maria's friends relatives look like they had good lives? looks like they were living in some poor apartment in New York...I didn't see them doing so well here. Of course there is more opportunities...but not everyone will succeed. and you can't just say everyone wants to come to America either. There are other nice countries in the world.
