thats dissapointing that they gave you a muffling ring with the snare. basically yamaha saying, this drum is going to overtone in a week, heres something to ease your pain.
@CocaineRubish On day one I swapped the snare heads for a coated G1 over Hazy 300. Snare sounds pretty good. I don't use that control ring much, but it does do a good job of drying out the drum if that is what's desired.
@DailyBeat97 Thank you for the feedback. I'm going to be opening boxes on a DW Performance series kit in the next week or two. Hopefully I won't have any trouble with the box flaps on those.
I wonder if I can play this set in my apartment without being evicted or someone complaining of the drums. Can anyone help me with this if someone lives in an apartment and plays drums?
@Pianocarneseur12 The best thing to do in this case would be to buy an electric set; yeah, there will still be vibrations and sounds (if you play through an amplifier) but you've got a lower chance of being evicted if you use an electronic kit. I hope this helps :)
Hey man I just read your review for this kit on drumchat.com. I have the same one! I was looking at the picture you posted of the kit and noticed that you took the rack tom mounts off the bass drum. I was wondering how easy is it to take the mounts off the Bass drum and where did you get the badge to cover the hole?
@feener52 It wasn't hard at all to remove the tom mount. I didn't remove the mount until I had a way to cover the holes. I found the cover plate from a user over at drummerworld. Search for the thread, Like a virgin, Yamaha bass drum plate.
@feener52 If you don't have access to a cover plate, you can get some blue painter's tape (no residue) and just tape over the holes from the inside to keep the air from escaping. I did that for years with a Recording Custom drum with no ill effects.
Yamaha ain't in to the whole 'punk/emo' rock thing pal. They make some of the best sounding kits out there. Ddrum an pearl are garbage...pearl's hayday was the 70's
@echols7839 Yamaha did make a more agressive sounding kit called the oak custom x..and it still wipes the floor with companies more known with a harder sound.
@shockerx1216 Yamaha ain't in to the whole 'emo/punk' rock thing pal. They make some of the highest quality drums out there. Ddrum is garbage and pearls hayday was in the 70's an 80's
where did you buy the kit from and how much? and when you ordered it your door. did all the packages come at once or each one came at a different time?
@09areFish i'm gettin this same set but in raven black so were did u get it are the cymbal stands go and most of all do this set come with heads plz reply!!!
i like the hi hat and the middle crash (i think the 18" one) and the splash is cool. i'm going to guitar center soon so maybe they have them that i can try out
yeeah. from what i've heard the 2002's are nice, do you like them so far? i'm looking at those or zildjian a customs, the 2002's are just more expensive and i like the a customs as much if not more. anyways would you say it;s a good monetary thing? like the set as a whole?
@yourmom123456969 I do like my 2002 crashes (16" & 18") and 10" splash. You should hear them before you buy. They are made from a different bronze alloy then the A Customs. If you check out my video What The World Will Never Take (Drum Cover) you can hear them (camera audio, sorry).
@yourmom123456969 For the price point the Paiste PST 5 cymbal line is a good cymbal in my opinion. They are a B8 or SuSn8 bronze cymbal, not brass like the PST 3 line. I am ready to upgrade though. I am in the process of upgrading them to Paiste 2002 cymbals.
@09areFish How much did it cost?? with all the ardware and cymbals, cuz i'm looking for buying a new drum but i dont know witch to choose
