I love Grieg's own gorgeous orchestral setting of this piece. But I think I will always prefer his original piano version as played so beautifully here by Rachel Schmoyer - every note, every gentle phrase, every beautiful chord so perfectly chosen by Grieg for this little gem. I hope someday she does a studio recording of this and his other Lyric Pieces.
This piece was played in the funeral for a friend of mine, she died so much to young, only 17 years old. And finally finding this song, I will remember the sad, yet beautiful moment when this song was playing as the tears escaped my eyes.
Thank you for posting this! My ballet recital dance is to this song. It heleped me practice a lot!!
