how much should a motherboard cost? And what if i buy one of those clear towers case as my base.Im not computer smart but im trying to build my own but i want to buy the parts and have a little scents doing it.
@MYDRAGGIN84 Well motherboards are anywhere from 50-200 bucks, but usually the cheaper they are, the less slots they have, the lower the FSB (front side bus) speed is, and the lower the supported RAM speed is.
Ok. My computer is 4 years old. Modified few times. And i'm starting to need faster motherboard, also with 2 PCI x16. My Nvidia GeForce 8600GT does supports the SLI, but motherboard not. And also i need board that will support Core 2 Duo processors. Any recommendations?
@deathwalker629 Yep. All the Phenom II series fit into the same slot, which is an AM3 slot. You can also use an AM2+ slot, but you need to update the bios, and see if it supports the processor.
Can Anyone help me choose a mother board for this kind of stuff:
GTX 560 Ti (SLI Compatible for upgrading later single for now)
Intel Core i7 2600K (i will overclock it)
Corsair H50 Water Cooler
and FRT (Fast Response Tech)
I will use it for making vids on youtube and recording with fraps and will do a lot of video encoding
i preferebly want a z68 motherboard

I don't like how it tells you that you need to know these things but not how to tell if it does have these things.
