This stuff is so common. Cops park in front of fires and block the entrance to homes of patients having heart attacks all the time. I have love for them as a whole and most cops know the deal when on scene, but some just dont think.
We would just break the windows of the cop car. Little more work but hey something to laugh about at the station. We broke their windows ans they cant do shit about it.
If it was a situation where the fire department needed to hose-up, their pig-tail or "pony-line" is long enough to reach that by twice over. Urban departments nowadays usually purchase pig tails long enough to reach, before they have to go under a vehicle or bust out windows...It creates less liability on the department and continues to promote positive PR.
I saw that once and it wasn't in a movie. I saw it on the news out of Philadelphia. Pretty amazing to see it happen. I remember the look on the police officer's face. It was a strange disbelief. The real shame I would think would come when the officer gets reprimanded by the supervisor.
where I live we were always told that if their is a vehicle in front of the hydrant any type don't amtter if it's a cop, as long as u have good reason you can put the hose through the window of the car and get to the hydrant that way.
i would have ran the stupid son of a bitch over if it was me. unless his cop car can carry 2,000 pounds of water, then it can park there other wise get the fuck out of the way ya dumbass
@irishmania18 Going to the grocery store to pick up groceries and then to porn store is'nt really helping, buddy. Go put some more liitle firemen in a tissue you clown.
@ffjsb they both fucking txt while driving. being on their computers is just as bad as txting dont wear seatbelts park in no parking zones, same with meters they dont put money in they drive way over the speed limit when they arent suppose to. so yea there you go. Ik how it is becuz of the program I do and having family as cops ik how it is so do play stupid. Maybe if you pay attention more when they drive by or where they park you understand
@tbtrucking104customs Pal I've been in the fire/EMS service for almost 30 years, I can say you don't know what you're talking about. When we park at meters or no parking zones it's because we are perfoming duties such as inspections and need our vehicles to be close in case we get a run. And we don't "text" on the compurters. Drivers can update their status by hitting a single button on the computer. And with FF's, there's usually someone in the passenger seat on the computer.
Guess who's bigger - fire truck or cop car? Gee. Fire trucks front bumper meets cop car rear bumper + fire truck pushes cop car out of the way = Fire truck wins!
@DDanserPhotography I agree with this but also think that even if the cop car is an emergency vehicle, they should NOT be allowed to park in front of the hydrant. The firefighter should give the cop a ticket.
@cpl2929 No you couldn't... 5 inch supply line comes out the side facing the road on 90% of hydrants (at least around here), and when charged, isn't flexible enough to bend 90 degrees in that tight of a radius. You would have to go under the car, through the windows, or move the car.
@DDanserPhotography The big bumper is to hold the trash line on the front of the truck. Trucks without the trash line wont have a big bumper like that
@enigmedic our tanker ( a dual axle engine that holds 2000 gallons of water) has a small bumper ( compared to our engine). Mainly they are installed to fit a front hose line because the smaller bumper is more than enough to push a car out of the way
I would have ran out and gave that cop a parking ticket by the way if you write one out properly and have photo/ video evidence of the infraction and can be enforced ha ha we win.
Its fine as long as it had nothing fire related...if so, you have some options, ONE, put the supply line THROUGH the car, TWO Put the supply line ON the car, THREE Disengage the breaks and let it start a rollin... :) (And yes, all have been done before) or FOUR, 2ndary hydrant (Which in this case you might have 2nd engine go to if it can be done, just because of possible delay)
@hillbilly7600 I've seen that before. this guy had JUST bought a brand new jag sprots car and still had the dealer paper on the windows. He was park at fire hydrant, and there was a fire. All his widows were broken, lines going through, over his roof, under the car, and through the windows. When the fire was dead he comes out and looks at his car and says" what the hell?" The fire fighter says "Next time, do not park there."
@Hobbitchoker....with an idle cop car and an idle fire engine with no signs of any fire, the hydrant, once again is moot. Now I'm not saying the cops were right, cause they're dead wrong, but the person shooting this video was only trying to point out what was wrong with the picture without giving us the entire story. Kinda like a fishing story "I caught a fish this I---------------------------I big! We need both sides, not just a skewed version of what someone WANTS us to see.
if there was an actual fire and there was a need to access the hydrant, then the best thing is for the fire truck to nudge the patrol car out of the way if the driver/officer cannot be located in a reasonable amount of time. Ultimately, the fire chief must explain to the mayor why this had to be done.
In the mean time, a complaint from the fire chief can be made to the police captain.

I live in Carol Stream, the cops here are jerks when it comes to traffic enforcement. Dont get me wrong though, theyre still great cops, i know a few.
that pumper can hold about 500 gallons of water. if it was a small interior fire, you could fight that fire with an 1 3/4 hose without connecting to a positive water supply. i didn't see any smoke so i know it wasn't a fully involved structure. so whatever fire it was, they probably stretched a line without establishing a positive water supply.
Auto or something minor no fire thats ok for now next time when there is a fire just push the cop car out of the way or tell him a donut truck rolled over somewhere we will leave in a blink
Okay so let's say the officer was first on scene. If you were the injured person in this said medical would you want the officer to spend the extra few minutes, to drive around and find a parking spot before coming in to check on you, what if you were critically injured and laying there dying, Im sure itd matter the world to you if that officer parked legally or not.
Would have been funny if they sleeved the hose right through the cruiser. No big deal, just pull a line from the engine and pump out all the tank water and when it runs dry, sit back and wait for the cop to return. Better yet. Open the hand line on the cruiser first by accident.
Yes police cars can park in front of fire hydrants, AND firetrucks can park in handicapped zones. Both disciplines can disregard posted speed limits, one way signs etc. Not enough information to chastise the officer. Doesn't look like the fire truck is being used for fire suppression. Did the officer pull up to an assault in progress and need to take immediate enforcement / protective actions to control the situation. Does this department send and engine / ladder to ems runs. (Former Fire Chief)
People need to understand that fire trucks respond to medical calls too. Just because a fire truck is there does not mean its a fire. If its a medical call and the officer is rushing to provide aid since he is first on scene why should he he criticized for his parking spot? Next time you need help make sure to tell the 911 operator to tell the officer not to park in front of the fire hydrant...
If it was a fire and we need the hydrant we just run the hose through the driver side window and out the passenger side into the hydrant. I've seen it done before. The cop only makes that mistake once. Haha.
your local fire department thanks you for shoveling out your fire hydrant people get tickets for not doing that around here. Seams as though no one thinks about that until their house is on fire then they want to know what took so long for the firemen to put out the fire.
in my opinion no matter what the nature of the call was, if or if there was no a fire truck there, or what kinda weather it was. no one should park in front of a hydrant including cops.
I think it would have been just perfect for the Fire Engine to have pushed this cop car out of the way. Let the cop explain it to his boss (and the taxpayers).
Depending on how far the hydrant is from the curb, we could possibly still get to the hydrant at an angle. It would be hard. But as a FF, I would just start shoveling snow on the fire and leave the hoses on the truck!! Kidding of course. Sometimes cops, medic, firefighters, we all get in a hurry and dont think about where we are parking. And he probably left the car running, so if they needed to, one of the firefighters probably could have got in the car and moved it up. It just depends.
Most of the time a cop arrives before the fire department, so the cop was probably there first and parked, if it was a fire I would imagine the car wouldn't have been there.
Look up Detroit Fire, in one of those videos, some idiot cop parks directly in front of a hydrant.... with flames shooting out of the second story windows of a structure. Oh, and must I include that there was someone trapped in the fire?
The cop only moved after the engineer gave him about 30 seconds to a minute's worth of air-horn.
It all depends. What was the nature of the call? If it was, say, an EMS run, then the cops weren't in the way. Looks to me like you're just another asshole bashing the cops.
I'm not BASHING the cops. I'm just saying it was funny how the cop car was parked right in front of the fire hydrant when there was a FIRE TRUCK right behind.
@Korinu8 I find nothing funnny about this. Obviously the natur of the call was minor. The cop would have moved if it was actually a working call. Plus there rig wouldnt just be left there. They would have immedietly pulled a line.
@Korinu8 If this was actually a Fire, they would have needed to hit th hydrant. So obviously, the Officer knew that this call was minor in nature or was a medic call. Which by all means, allows him to park in front of the hydrant
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@301whitehall And you don't find it a little funny that of all the places the cop could have parked it had to be right in front of the hydrant with a firetruck behind? Seems inconvenient to me.... Lol.
@301whitehall you would be amazed at how many cops park in front of the structure that is on fire instead of letting a fire engine be the one in that spot.
Yes they do; in America, up to 90% of fire calls are not fire related. Waste of money and other resources most of the time. It makes sense if someone is in an auto accident because firefighters have special tools of course, but usually it's not necessary.
Years ago a relative of mine in rural Ohio called 911 to report a friend who had broken his leg at a campground. They sent a firetruck or two and the ambulance. The firefighters just stood around, of course, since there was nothing to do. Then they tried to bill my relative for the use of fire equipment since he made the call. He argued it and they treated him like he was ungrateful. Absurd.
@redrainjedi Not exactly, in Chicago and other places you need at least 1 paramedic and 2 EMTs on a engine because you know why, if an ambulance company is busy in your area, these firefighters can treat you until that ambulance is free or if another one comes. That story in Ohio, they were there as a backup if those paramedics needed extra help. So they were standing there because most likely the paramedics had it handled. So yeah i think it is necessary and not a waste of money!
@SonnnyyyScooott my fire dept does make medical calls. i'm on a suburban fire dept in louisville ky. we are a mixed fire dept with 38 career (24/48) firefighters/emts and about 12 volunteer.
@box15c22 FUCK YOU YOU ASSHOLE YOU MUST BE A SHIT HEAD COP. YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO PARK IN FRONT OF A FIRE HYDRANT READ THE LAW STUPID THEN GO HOME AN BEAT UP YOU WIFE OR GIRLFRIEND LIKE BEACAUSE YOU THINK YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BECAUCE YOUR A COP
@crusher1944 People like you are the reason we have middle fingers.
By the way, your boyfriend called and said he's sorry that he's not feeling well and he can't make it over tonight but for you to go ahead and have sex with your mom again.
@box15c22 lol, i think not, the cops is not above the law and should not park in susch a spot, day or nigh, but i guess that is not how shit works in usa right?
that damn bacon... i wonder what would happen if the fireys were in the way of the cops? A ticket? A fine? But oh no, the fireys have to allow the cops to do whatever... (mutters to self)
In Minnesota it's a very serious violation for cops to block a fire hydrant.
If you're concerned I'd check with the city and ask if that's a violation where you live.

@ndaguanno
You'd be surprised where cops park....
Look up Detroit Fire, in one of those videos, some idiot cop parks directly in front of a hydrant.... with flames shooting out of the second story windows of a structure. Oh, and must I include that there was someone trapped in the fire?
The cop only moved after the engineer gave him about 30 seconds to a minute's worth of air-horn.
abzvinny318 8 months ago
they should have put a hose line through the cops window . we will do it to anyone car why not a cop's ?

if it was not a fire call then its ok...

this video is pointless unless there was a fire..im guessing it was just an mva?
386obc 1 year ago
It all depends. What was the nature of the call? If it was, say, an EMS run, then the cops weren't in the way. Looks to me like you're just another asshole bashing the cops.

I'm not BASHING the cops. I'm just saying it was funny how the cop car was parked right in front of the fire hydrant when there was a FIRE TRUCK right behind.
Korinu8 2 years ago
@Korinu8 I find nothing funnny about this. Obviously the natur of the call was minor. The cop would have moved if it was actually a working call. Plus there rig wouldnt just be left there. They would have immedietly pulled a line.

@301whitehall You're saying its fine the cop parked right in front of the hydrant when the fire department was called too?
Korinu8 1 year ago
@Korinu8 If this was actually a Fire, they would have needed to hit th hydrant. So obviously, the Officer knew that this call was minor in nature or was a medic call. Which by all means, allows him to park in front of the hydrant

This comment has received too many negative votes show
@301whitehall And you don't find it a little funny that of all the places the cop could have parked it had to be right in front of the hydrant with a firetruck behind? Seems inconvenient to me.... Lol.

@Korinu8 Im 100% on your side! You just found it to be funny! Fuck these guys!
SUBLIMEBANDRULES 2 months ago
@301whitehall you would be amazed at how many cops park in front of the structure that is on fire instead of letting a fire engine be the one in that spot.
sebass03 2 months ago
@sebass03 If there was a fire, I'd bust out the window of the car & run the hose through it.

@301whitehall In the US do the Fire department respond to medical emergencies?
SonnnyyyScooott 2 months ago
@SonnnyyyScooott
Yes they do; in America, up to 90% of fire calls are not fire related. Waste of money and other resources most of the time. It makes sense if someone is in an auto accident because firefighters have special tools of course, but usually it's not necessary.
redrainjedi 2 months ago
Years ago a relative of mine in rural Ohio called 911 to report a friend who had broken his leg at a campground. They sent a firetruck or two and the ambulance. The firefighters just stood around, of course, since there was nothing to do. Then they tried to bill my relative for the use of fire equipment since he made the call. He argued it and they treated him like he was ungrateful. Absurd.
redrainjedi 2 months ago
