When I got Somnium Obmutum in 1999 I had never heard of the band before that. When I listened to it I went crazy (since I play piano, keyboards and bass guitar). I couldn't wait for another record of this band, untill finally I got A Sombre Dance, wich is just a masterpiece. I hope some day Matthias Kogler surprise us with something else.

My god, I'll never get tired of it. Estatic fear is delicious, this is insanely amazing. The best one of all the album. Metal Symphonic is a word that can absolutely not cover all the feelings that we receive while listening to this song.

I discovered them about maybe ... 12 years ago. Back when file sharing was in it's infancy and we didn't have gov/corp interest trying to regulate it. :)

Anyways... the first band I recall that combined a beautiful voice with a deep growling voice.

Great contrasts. The music itself is both operatic / classical / folk on one side and heavy, metal, and goth on the other.

If I've learned one thing from Pandora, I enjoy music that is creative and cuts it's own niches. :)

personally i think estatic fear is by far the best band out there, uaral and empyrium have extremely horrid vocals that just ruin all of their songs for me, while estatic fear still does the screaming crap it's at least understandable, plus he gets the chick to sing which is beautiful. And i just think his music is all out better. so far i've found no band that even comes close to this. but thats just my opinion.
