Just to add on to my previous comment, NYC already had (and still has) it's own style, flavor, and sound to hip-hop, but Pete Rock & CL Smooth had their own seperate style entirely. They were on another platform... it was devastating to watch them break up. They are truly legends and they were ahead of their time.
