Why does it matter? Like all drummers I meet that are self taught feel like they have to tell me about it. And I just like don't see how it matters. Like I am self taught, does that mean I am better than most? Thought not.

Because certainly it's more difficult to teach yourself- when you have a teacher, they tell you how to play, what to play at the beginning of your learning, etc. To me, there's a big difference.
