Nice customization I like how you made the handle shorter.

Very nice mod. But I left mine the way it is. I've modded other knives and machete's that had plastic or kraton handles, but the katana machete's tang, no matter how small, was in Polypropelyne, which is UNBREAKABLE (Unless you take a power saw to it) It's what their bats and most of their other blunt weapons such as the indian war club are made out of. Beautiful mod though, but kind of a downgrade when the original was unbreakable and gave some much needed reach.

I do not have the katana machete near me. so i can't tell. But if it handles with the handle from coldsteel. and the way it has been pinned with the bolsters. I am planning to do the same so it stays strong. only the handle will be different. But we shall see i guess. :-)

@HaidongGumdo i dont know. The original tang is only for one hand, i think little short for such a big blade.

what did you exactly do by removing the old handle from coldsteel. cause i wanna customize my own katana machete as well. Make it more to my taste. and is youre blade still 19 inches or did you shortened it a bit? Hope to hear from you.

@HaidongGumdo i broke it off with hammer and chisel and cut off/drilled out the pins. the hidden tang is actually pretty small so i did take off inch or two from the blade to make the full tang handle little longer...

How difficult was it to remove the original handle? Any tips you can provide?

@LOADEDF1ST wasnt that hard, but not the easiest either. drill out the original pins and split the handle with some chisel and hammer or saw. dont be disappointed what you'll find inside tho. i had to take about 3 inches of blade to make the handle like i have it...

@better458 its made out of glow powder and epoxy. put the little spacer/washers between the tang and handle slabs/ sealed it off and poured in the epoxy with glow powder...

nice custom job brother. I own the united cutlery ninja sword slimline machete I've you;re familiar with that I customized it as well, I took of the paracord nylon wrapped handle and re-wrapped it with leather baseball bat grip and the ABS sheath that goes across your back, I duck taped it to look more "apocalyptic" I say it's a rather good zombie killer myself

@13irishsailors nooo, never a grinder man. sand paper and drill. sometimes by hand and sometimes on a drill sanding disk attachment. you can see in my video named "convexing and sharpening made east" or something like that...

You know.... you always say don't cut yourself... I cut myself with every knife I get. It's a superstition: A knife that hasn't drawn blood is no good. My grandpa said that. And thanks to him I DO cut myself ;)
