  • @lucymylucy me toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo muse is my ULTIMATE favorite though ;)

  • idk i love the stokes and this album is amazing but not this song too much.... still amazing though

  • the last "denial" takes me somewhere else entirely. so fucking good

  • i fucking loooooooooove this song!

  • Julian admited he wants to be like me!!! F*CK YEAH! (1:29)

  • I have no idea what he is saying, but I still love it.

  • Description :D

  • Does anyone else here the intermittent music from midnight cowboy???

  • These guys are freakin so good its not normal

  • The more I listen to this album the more It seems like the strokes were going for an old school video game vibe with this album (the 8 bit stuff), especially with this track as well as taken for a fool, and life is simple in the moonlight. just picture a boss level with this as the music to see what im getting at..

  • this is gonna be played at my funeral

  • Pokemon.

  • Fucking proper tune, my favourite song off this album. I agree, I do hear a slight MUSE vibe (which is a good thing to me since The Strokes and Muse are my two favourite bands). To those saying otherwise, listen to "Fury" from Muse and tell me it doesn't sound a little similar...

  • @lucymylucy You mean pwoper fucking rock and roll, fucking pwoper :b

And the very last part sounds very Musesque to me, with Julian raising his pitch... if he only sustained it! The epicness would be more than complete! :D

  • I agree it gives a MUSE type of vibe. The Strokes and MUSE are my top 2 Favorite bands. Although their lyrics are different. Muse has more of a general point of view lyrics. The Strokes has more of a personal/ inner feeling. BUT they are both FUCKING AMAZING!!! <3

  • without the strokes my life would be "boring and plain"

  • Is it just me or does this remind you guys of Heart in a Cage?

  • i was hoping i wasnt the only one who got the muse feel from the song, this whole album seems to have a muse/radiohead influence on it

especially from 1:01 to 1:21 Julian sounds a lot like Matt Bellamy from muse

  • Does anyone else get a Muse-like feeling from this song? Anyway, great track, simply great.

  • de mis favoritas tan melódica, tan buena (Y)

    (méxico)

  • :) rape the like button

  • everytime i hear this song i like it more and more... brilliant lyrics, lightly dark music...jesus, strokes are the best for sure

  • i could easily imagine a black metal band covering this song.

  • beginning soun ds like it says I want to be a rapist

  • @Neffero if so he can rape me any day, except it wouldn't be considered rape in my mind ;)

  • @steph4steph Dont talk of rape. Oo I raped the replay button. My friendnd asks me if I would enjoy being raped. DONT BE SO SICK :/ Its not normal

  • @ilovejamesandmoney lol I was joking, it's just as if you're with a friend and you yell out "RAPE!", because you know they'll stop and you can laugh at them. But it's not rape if you enjoy it, which is why I say Julian can rape me any day.

  • @Poerock83 Hehe not at all. I just listen alot.

  • First time hearing this song, Amazing.

  • Am I the only one who loved the album sense the first time they listened to it? It's great!

  • I've literally been listening to this album for like a week straight. Hasn't gotten old yet =D

  • @aaron8491916 yet??? the strokes never get old!!! i've been listening to them everyday for the past month and i still LOVE THE STROKES

  • Comment removed

  • sometimes it takes a bit of time of paying attention to a song so that you can hear the genius of it... some genius isn't supposed to be obvious... I have to admit, angles didn't make a big first impression on me, but it's the strokes, so I listened harder, cuz I know they rule, I just needed some time to understand it...

    the strokes rock man!

  • WTF i this song isn't track number 9 when i got the album.

  • lyrics reminds me of myself

  • i love from 1:28 to 2:13..classic Strokes and a great verse well produced.

  • This is a wild song man

  • i love this song. :o

  • Sounds like Muse.. But way more cool :)

  • I fucking like this song man. Has a nice tune. Goes with my personality. I have it on repeate o.o I LOVE THE STROKES!!

  • I love this band to death but this song kinda sounds like Caveosapien but shitty :/

  • I fucking love how eerie the solo sounds in this song. God I love The Strokes.

  • 7 people like Justin Bieber

  • @ferminstinto That was fucking weak.

  • Now. they need to preform this song live :)

  • @lololauren55 **PERFORM!

  • every song on this album is so...FUCKING...GOOD!!!!!!!

  • No lads...I don't like this album. I thought it was going to follow the steps of "first impressions"... but it wasn't.

  • sounds like the boss level on mario =]

  • i need to find an instrumental version of this song

  • loliloveredbull,

Take your treehugger bullshit to a cliff and then jump off, and if you survive jump in a lake and hold your breath until the bubbles stop

  • @MrTrickoman umm, thats a little much.

  • @NightElfMohawkEh Such a useless retort. I'm not a songwriter. I'm just a music fan (and a fan of the Strokes) commenting on a song. This particular one I'm not very fond of. I find the whole Strokes-by-way-of-Muse sound awkward. I'm allowed to praise or criticize a piece of music, and so are you, without being all, "Not a big fan of this one. Here's a song -I- wrote to prove my worth!" Come on now.

  • i feel like this song describes my life..

  • Worst song by a great band.

  • Love the melody. <3

  • The Strokes "Metabolism" is featured on Indie/Rock Playlist: July (2011)

    theindierockplaylistdotcom

  • I wanna be somebody, wanna be somebody like you, like you, like you, like you, The Strokes, instead of me.

  • the only part i hated was @3:01 :(

  • that is ultimately the best way to end a song. jules=badASS

  • I just peed in my pants.

    This song is fucking legit.

  • Fab Moretti <3

  • lol it sounds like Julian's raising the dead

  • @musiclineproduction chill out bro. however i completely agree with you about muse. twilight; ruining culture one aspect at a time. ):

  • I believe Casablancas wrote the lyrics for this album; he seems to be a wordsmith right in the middle of simplicity and abstractness kinda like Cobain.

  • @arinross523 I like how, if you listen, everyone is playing their own piece of music and Julian is just singing. But SOMEHOW, it all comes together and sounds AMAZING. I think thats what makes their music character, and thats why it sounds to great.

  • @CabezaQuesa ur so rite, haha, nah the finished sound is hectic but like u said it works. The guitar riff reminds me of Heart in a Cage.

  • @CabezaQuesa ur so rite, haha, nah the finished sound is hectic but like u said it works. The guitar riff reminds me of Heart in a Cage. Oh, and I believe Valenti wrote Macchu Picchu

  • @arinross523 Nikolai wrote you're so right.

  • It's so visceral. I love it!!!

  • this one sounds like muse to me, assassin?

  • @dheMuze Agree.

  • Greatest band, greatest frontman, greatest sound.

  • anyone who doesnt like angles is missing out, its a great album, maybe not a great as the other ones but it still has some pretty great songs

  • @mrshizno91 2 or 3.

  • Can someone do an instrumental version of this?

  • nobody because its better this way

  • La única canción buena del disco. Lamentablemente :(

  • @edgaroner asi eggs my friend

  • Una canción muy oscura. Me encanta

  • i'm glad i didn't buy this album, really not feeling it at all, in fact its quite horrible to be truthful, i've got all other Strokes albums but i'll give this one a miss. its a shame.

  • RK

  • the singer sound ALOT like the singer from the Muse

  • Why the fuck are you people comparing the Strokes to Muse? Both are amazing and everything but they are completely different .

  • @zehel15 Julian DID beat Matt Bellamy at ping-pong though.. Not that it's relevant or anything..

  • @FLaiR791 No its not really relevant ,I'm just asking why are people comparing 2 completely different bands.

  • This album is so good! I can't believe it!

  • oh so i wasn't the only one that thought it sounded "muse-y" or whatever. but who gives a shit anyway. this song gives me epic chills :D

  • this is wayyyyy better than any muse shit

  • This song is so NOT plain :)

  • for those about bitching at muse/the strokes (for both: why???) just go watch the video matt bellamy and julian casablancas are playing ping pong with eachother ^^ see, nothing to worry about =D

  • love there new style personally didnt want them to change but still my fav band :)

  • the songs on the new album sound 1000000000X better live . computer speakers don't do any good for this song, but they still have that sound from their previous album.

  • it sounds to me like some tracks performing by MUSE

    NICE!!!!

  • If the killers could only make a comeback very similar to their first album that would be awesome.........

  • I could imagine this song playing right after a person has just died stands before God looks above sees the brilliance of heaven looks below and sees those suffering in hell and waits for god to say something....

  • they kinda sound like 311 in this song... don't they??? maybe i'm just an idiot :D

  • @lodleyoo16 ur rite ur just an idiot

  • @1yoalohaholaoy1 thought so. not the music but the voice kinda sounds like 311's... to me, at least... maybe... not... lol. i should just curl up in a ball and solve math problems all my life :(

  • First listen, I hated the album.

Second listen, something grabbed my attention.

    10th listen, I think I like it.

Lost count...I should just buy the album already.

  • tbh when i first heard the album i was like whatever you know...then i listened to it and listened to it and it grew on me...probably their best album yet..i love it..LOVE ANGLES LOVE THE STROKES!!!

  • @terracaixa lol that reminds me of other works from other artists. for example i did not like 21st century breakdown by green day very much, but if u listen to it, it'll grow on u and you'll learn to realize it is a beautiful work of art. i didn't care too much for this album at first (except i immediately liked "under cover of darkness"), but after listening to it some more, i realized its an epic album. i mean, after all, who wants to hear the same album again but with a different cover?

  • @terracaixa same thing happened to me

  • I think that The Strokes' sound is evolving, and I reckon we can all agree this album sounds different from the rest. But isn't that a good thing? If the album sounded like their old stuff what would be the point. Rather than point out what you hate about the album, try to find the things you like. This is something the band released to the public, they wanna impress. Rather than shun the music, embrace it. That's what a real fan should do.

  • @loliloveredbull This should be the highest rated comment....

  • @loliloveredbull finally someone with some sense

  • @loliloveredbull Thank you for this comment! Couldn't agree more :)

  • @loliloveredbull Couldn't agree more. :D Glad SOMEONE still likes The Strokes!

  • @loliloveredbull People just want another Justin Bieber. As for me, I like the way they are evolving...I would have been disappoionted by an album the same as the previous ones!

  • The lyrics are ridiculously spot-on ! Good tune !

  • This Song is FuckN Dope! GYEA!

  • My favorite song from the album!

  • I WANNA BE OUTRAGEOUS

  • trying to find the perfect life

    end up being in denial..

  • that scream at the end is awesome :D

  • splambo!

  • classical sounding song, Fabs drummiming is amazing.. oh and the pause at 1:55 always gets me. The Strokes ARE amazing!!

  • love the album tired of listening to this techno rap shit i love the strokes <3

  • if you don't like it, don't listen to it, let us who appreciate it enjoy it for what it is.

  • one of the better songs on the album!

  • featuring matthew bellamy ?

  • sounds like a boss battle

  • y'all are all weird. who cares. haha

  • wow this is dark for a strokes song!

  • i like the new album, but julian's voice doesn't sound as good or it is too muffled or something

  • This is my favorite on the album!!! You guys who are bashing are crazy.

  • I think they could have made a much better song with such a good riff. Ah well, bring on the 5th album!

  • i dont like this song, sounds like muse

  • @mpazcf1 Haha if you don't like the song becuase of that you are pathetic. If anything that makes this song better!

  • @robslater90 im sorry.. i dont like the new cd.. julian voice and the songs are so different, i know that they have to change but.. i dont know.. i love this is it and the others cds , i sing all the songs! and.. if im pathetic for that.. wuuu.. so my dad its pathetic because he preffer beatles than strokes? , its only my opinion. and i can live with that :)

  • @mpazcf1 It's alright don't be sorry. Yeah sure you're entitled to your own opinion. The album does sound different and i too prefer the older stuff but i also like this album. I was just saying that you shouldn't hate on them just because this song sounds a little bit muse, the same goes for some of the songs on first impressions of the earth anyway.

  • @robslater90 peace :)

  • The Strokes have one song on this album worth remembering. They have lost their catchiness and charm....great.

  • Putting apart all muse vs. the strokes arguments, I'm divided on my opinion of this album. On one side, I think it's great that they changed their sound and I like the influences that are shown on the songs (Joy Division, new wave/post-punk bands, maybe even Kraftwerk). On another part, the album is so irregular that it doesn't feel like a real album, each song is really individual; now, this might be interested and different, but I get the feeling it lacks the soul of their earlier records.

  • @Danyhg92 interesting* I meant, sorry my english is not perfect lol

  • HOW do people listen to this and say The Strokes have changed? This is pure, raw Strokes music and I FUCKING LOVE IT.

  • muse school!

  • CAN YOU GUYS JUST SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC.

BEFORE I SHOVE MY FOOT UP ALL YOUR ASSES. OK?

  • @Allureist ok mr forman

  • @rocanlover345 What.

  • @rocanlover345 I seriously just got that right now while I was watching that 70's show...haha.

  • @Allureist is there a internet connection that lets you do that?

  • @yahabeich Yes.

  • @Allureist lmao u sound like Red Foreman from That 70s Show:D!!!

  • THIS IS SO METAL

  • @Johnylogic16 I know dude....

  • loves it

  • lol Youtube comments are so entertaining..

  • <3

  • this it wat i dont get from people... alot of people say that they wanted this band to change.. they change n now every one is bitching on how bad they are.... this band is one of the greatest in the past century.. once these guys leave n dont make music anymore, everyone is going to start bitching on how much they miss them. enjoy them right know, while they are the best... n for those who r comparing the STROKES to muse... y r u even on this page? muse got sold out when they went with twilight

  • t maan c´mon i love both bands, but there is no point of arguing, muse is way complex, the strokes is music to chill out, muse is for thinking and admiring

  • @musiclineproduction both muse and the strokes make fantastic music.

  • @musiclineproduction You're an idiot. Muse "selling out" doesn't make their music any worse. How does it change anything other than more people are aware of their music? -_- How is that a bad thing for the band? Or are you one of those idiot hipsters? "I liked Muse before it was in Twilight." People today, honestly. You can compare Muse and The Strokes because honestly, their music style is very similar this album. And Muse is a good band, just like The Strokes.

  • @DrGeeky no fucken dum ass, im not saying their music got bad, im just saying they sold out, they were heading into a bad direction with twilight... exactly, u cant compare the strokes to muse, they did it before and thats y i said it,... they r both great bands, very different music style.. pinche pendeja, lee antes que escribas

    hipster...

  • @musiclineproduction I know spanish, idiot. xD That's not what you said at all, btw. Anddd I don't think you read what I said. You read before you write, and then don't try to be sly and say something in a different language than the original post. ;) Believe it or not, music is a business. And you have to make money in your business. The more money the better, right? Say you work the best job ever and you're offered a raise. Are you going to turn that down? No. The style is similar, stfu. -_-

  • @DrGeeky oh babe, i dont really care if u know spanish, armenian, or japanese, ignorant is the language u speak the most.. and music is not a business anymore... it has been tainted.. jonas brothers??wiz khaliza?? rebecca black?? justin bieber?? thats the music business for u, hell wat the fuck is black and yellow, i can make a song that simple in a fucken hour... hell, me shitting sounds better then the music that is going around today..

  • @musiclineproduction How else would they be popular if people weren't buying their music? Oh wait, 'cause it's a business and that's what you do in a business: sell your product. Maybe you should.. go to school.. or something. Even do a google search. It doesn't matter if you like the music or not, they're selling it and making money. You're just being an uneducated idiot on youtube, so whatevs, have fun.

  • @DrGeeky ahaha, well then have a nice day u immature little teenager

  • @musiclineproduction I <3 You!

  • @killdo21 thank u.. =)

  • @musiclineproduction yo you are awesome man !

  • @musiclineproduction Jack whites not a sell out and he also went with Twilight. Being a sellout is about changing your band for money not getting paid to get some publicity for a huge audience

  • @MrBlond6 wait wat?? i never said jack white was a sell out?? where the fuck did u read that... and muse did change their band for money

  • @musiclineproduction Muse didn't change their band for money ,they always try different styles for each album . And why are you speaking about muse on a Strokes video ?

  • @musiclineproduction Saying Muse sold out is ignorant. Stephenie Meyer had always been a huge fan of Muse prior to writing the Twilight books. How can Muse be 'selling out' by doing a favour for a fan. If anything that makes them less about the money. As a fan wouldn't you want to raise more money for your favourite band by using their songs in your product? It's not like they wrote the songs specifically for the movie either. They were all written by the band before the movies came out.
