So in addition I say to him: When GNR can tour continuously for 30 years with the same lineup, come back and talk to me. AC/DC only ever recorded 2 covers in their 38 year history. GNR on the other hand have had no less than 22 members. As far as other covers by GNR, I can think of at least another 17.

No, I am not talking about when they attainded huge commercial success, but about when that success wrecked the band creatively. Too bad, for they are excellent musicians to this very day and their older stuff remains awesome! But I strongly disagree with the present tense for GnR. And there are many more great rock bands who deserve a shot a "the best and hardest" IMHO. Mötorhead, Led Zeppelin, etc.

I am talking out of experience. When we once played Led Zeppelin's Rock & Roll, people who were outside smoking literally dropped their cigarettes and came in to hear it and have a blast. After that, they were more open to our songs. I think you're a bit too strict, like I used to be :-)
