No, that is wrong. The sentence 'Ich bin ein Berliner' is totally correct. JFK said it in the right way - in meaning and more or less in pronunciation.

In order to guard against misunderstandings in german the word 'Berliner' can be understood as a donut. But in other regions and not in Berlin. Here the right word is 'Krapfen'.
