For some years, the "September in the Rain" section was omitted when this cartoon was shown on TV, no doubt because it was regarded as racist. (Was there also a question of the song's being under copyright, I wonder?)
Does this cartoon ever have anything in common with the 1938 Merrie Melody "Daffy Duck in Hollywood" besides being directed by Tex Avery and the full animation credits? Both shorts had the story by Dave Monahan and main animation by Virgil Ross.
porky pig is quite a good animator actually!!!! It is interesting that this is a very early reference to an animation about animating, it is so simple yet so fun to watch! much better that any modern cartoon
@HusseinHaji1 you can't tell him to revome that video. think of all the old black and white of the loony tunes in the 40s. please, don't tell him to delete?
Do You Ever Heard Of A Cartoon Within A Cartoon? It's when an Episode of a Animated Series characters make his or her's Cartoon. It happen in Two nicktoons: Ren And Stimpy And Rocko's Modern Life. It's great.
Paramount's Famous Studios was influenced enough, at seeing this, to offer their own satire on "crude animation", Popeye's "Cartoons Ain't Human" (1943). They even used a variation of the "train running out of track" gag at 3:17.
Very daring attempt at "limited animation" by Tex Avery, satirizing the entire business of animated cartoons at the same time {including his}. Topical gags: there was still a "military draft" at the time this was released [2:23]; "You" [2:37] is a caricature of the studio's production manager, Henry Binder (he had wavy hair); "Crosby's Horse" [4:05] is a reference to Bing Crosby and his stable of racing horses, whom Bob Hope often referred to, on his radio show, as "broken-down nags"...
deleted scenes at 5:37 to 6:28

@HusseinHaji1 thats Al Jolsen who was famous for singing in blackface. If you censor the past you will never learn from it.
