  • "What price glory?" What a sad, tragic, foul-infested fight that, even for avid life-long boxing fan such as myself, is hard to watch. But I do not fault Benn. This was a high-profile fight and these things happen, particularly in a fight of this caliber. What is most tragic is that someone should have let Gerald know that at some point in his career when certain fighters are able to take Ur big punches, falling back on Ur boxing skills to set up the big punch is not such a bad idea

  • NIGEL BENN ===COMPLETE TOSSER PLUS BENN WAS TOTALLY OUTCLASSED THE WHOLE FIGHT AND EVEN SHOULD HAVE BEEN COUNTED OUT TOTAL JOKE THIS WAS BUT GERALD WOULD HAVE SUFFERED THIS INJURY AT SOME POINT I THINK.......

  • Ref should have deducted points but saying those rabbit punches to the back of the head were what caused mcclellans bloodclot is just stupid. Some people are just not made to box and mcclellan was one. If he had of knocked benn out in the first round someone was just gonna come along and cause mcclellan brain damage later on. His head wasn't made for boxing, simple. AND he had the shittest corner in the world, fucking hate his trainer. it's up to your corner to keep you safe, HAT FAG FAILED

  • Hey Gerald...U abuse other people and animals .....U WILLLL PAYYYYY

  • The boxing media doesn't want to say it but they know as everyone else knows that all of those rabbit punches to the back of McClellan's head caused him irreversible brain damage that left him permanently blind and disabled.

  • this has been said a gazzilion times already but Been should have been penalized by mid ruonds for blatant rabbit punching.. Anyone who boxed knows that even a tap to the back of a head has a major jarring effect on you and Benn was hitting his will full blooded haymakers.. crazy shit..

  • @Joolspops are you sure its true? someone has any proof of that?

  • hes not deaf hes lost the ability to understand what people are saying

  • benn is a good fighter, but he repeatedly hit McCellan behind the head. ref should have deducted points like what happened to khan v peterson fight for instance.Even though in this fight the punches behind the head were more blatant. Funnily enough those punches behind the head were one of few connections Benn was making on McCellan! :L

for some reason in round 10 McCellan backs off, and I guess this is when the damage has started to take its toll. Eyes were blinking rapidly also were a sign.

  • This is what would have happened to mike Tyson if mike didn't pay lennox 4 million dollars in 95-96. Dead serious. 'Iron' Mike was still a animal back then and would have just kept walking into lennox's jap for 12 rounds and died in real life later on. Luckily for iron mike he paid lennox 4 million and got to fight holyfield instead. Unluckily for iron mike holyfield still raped him.. twice.. in the ass. and mouth. lol so mike had to bite ear off.

  • You can clearly see something wrong is going on with McCellen's brain because of how hes playing with his mouth piece.

  • Benn keeps on punching on the back of the head, refree does nothing. Back and lateral regions of the head is more vulnerable compared to forehead and its more likely to get a brain damage when theres an impact to that parts like I did after a severe sparring with a former european champ . Thanks god im 100% recovered anyway... Refree has a share in the consequence ? well thats you to decide.

  • @tnkhasan i agree.. with you... back of the head

  • ben is 1 of the greatest fighters ever and no 1 can say any different hey ?

  • @taffwilliams100 Uh, no. Is he in the top 5000? Sure. But for the most part he's just a european attraction. His 1 big win was a fight where he got KO'd in the first but the ref gave him a long count, and he rabbit punched the opponent to death

Not an ATG by any means. Just a brawler.

  • jshfhfsfs

  • did anyone notice the number of shots to the back of the head...dammmm..as i fighter i know how harsh they are and no way were they on accident...sad sad sad round nine he should have been DQ'd

  • I'd say we both have opinions and our own views,so ill agree to disagree.

  • You pair of halfwits. Vegetarians don't tie cows up and have predators tear them to pieces. More than anything that would release stress hormones that would make the meat inedible - I did used to work for a butcher. It's not about what he killed, it's about the manner in which he did it.

As I've said: you have weak debating skills and an inability to grasp the crux of the argument. I'm off now, but if you continue I may respond tomorrow - not that either of you are saying anything intelligent.

  • @TheKaryobin People do far worse and only get 5 years in Prison. He killed a fucking DOG. he didn't kill a baby or rape a child, he killed a dog. Big fucking deal, he doesn't deserve life imprisonment within his own body.

  • @TheKaryobin You are the most inept person i have ever come across. I don't usually get dragged into these stupid debates over something where there should be only one outcome.

  • @TheKaryobin Some of your comments are disgraceful, and some of your language is obviously a credit to the person that you are. Gerald Mclellan was a fanctastic athlete and a brave sportsman. At one stage, he was young and naive, too head strong with power and did some cruel things, but in the ring he was a legend. If he had set his dog on a child or another human at all i could understand your lack of human emotion, but a dog.... i fail to understand your reasons...

  • @TheKaryobin i value human life much more...tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye, not a brain for a dog. your a moron. and also, unless your a soldier, dont you dare compare our bravery in order to win some silly debate. Grow up.

  • @bealmaster Another Christian eh? In my experience they're always so keen to build upon and impose on others their hierarchy of existence. "Humans stand above all other because the lord told us it was so, etc."

And sorry: I don't fall for the 'grow up' taunts, especially when the person spouting them does so from a juvenile language register ('you're', not 'your') and an infantile understanding of ethics and morals. Come back when you've got something to say worth reading.

  • I don't care what McClellan did in his life, its disgusting that some of are saying he deserved what he got.

  • @DankinTunes Disgusting ? ARe you kidding? tell that to the dogs that he made fight to the death, the mother fucker deserve this and much more, he used all his money to kills animal, he deserve much more

  • @chamanista It IS disgusting. Somebody who killed some dogs doesn't not deserve this.

  • I can't believe three are retards saying that it was when benn hit his head in gm that caused the brain damage, what about the hundreds of bombs that benn hit him with you absolute morons

  • Give McCllellan immense credit - he fought to the limit of his human limits - and suffered terrible consequences for his heart and bravery. - Also immense credit to Nigel Benn for showing the heart of a Lion. Great fight = very sobering and sad consequences.

  • nigel benn you bastard!

  • i dont understand this at all mcclellan said that he wanted benn dead and was going to kill him first round the hatred of some people especially reading half of this shit fuck all ya all

  • so sad.....

  • i watched the story off this fight the other day ,and i see things differently from when i watched it live, years ago ,2 fighter`s wanting to punch each other to bits ,nigel Benn won that fight ,against mc Clellan,,,mc clellan gave is all that fight ,as much has he had to give ,and he is suffering now because off it , but i see mc clennan carying on in his fight ,a fight for life ,god bless u

  • Gerald taped up the mouth of a house dog and then set one of his pit bulls onto it. Gerald got what he deserved in this fight!!! HaHa

  • @MrJenoptem Ohh so because he set his dog on another to kill it, he deserves to suffer severe brain damage and blindness for life?? C'mon man, what you just said is plain stupidity. He was a young man - only 27 - and his life has been ruined because of this one fight. No one deserves such a thing, so really think about the things you say.

  • @lickchick14 No. Dog fighting is distasteful but wouldn't warrant what happened to McClellan. It's the fact that he tied up a dog, taped its mouth closed and had his dog rip it to pieces.

You're right to point out that he was a young man however, thank god he was crippled when he was - imagine how much more suffering he would have caused otherwise?

Too right he deserved it and too bad you think thought should produce another opinion. I'm thinking about it though, really I am...

  • @TheKaryobin Who cares about the bloody dogs, this is a HUMAN BEING we are talking about here. So you care more about the death of dogs, to the death of humans?! Its not as if Gerald went around killing other people, he killed this ONE dog and your happy that he was disabled, so he wouldn't have had the chance to kill other DOGS?!?! I have actually lost all hope in the world. You have actually proven how stupid and inhumane the human race is, THANK YOU!

  • @lickchick14 Yup, that's about right. Because you see: animals don't get to choose; humans do. His cruelty is indicative of an deeply disturbed mind. Whether he *didn't* kill a human is utterly irrelevant; he *did* choose to kill something totally innocent, then chose to enter a sport that resulted in his lifelong injury. All his choices, and he utterly deserved the result. You seem to have poor debating skills and an inability to grasp the crux of this debate. Better not to reply.

  • @TheKaryobin I said I wouldn't reply but... Pwahahahahahahahahahaha! Okay, I'm done.

  • @lickchick14 Nice one. I rest my case. ;-)

  • @TheKaryobin Are you a Vegetarian? If not than you are a total and utter hypocrite. And even if you were a Vegetarian I'd still call you a moron. Killing a few dogs is not even remotely comparable to killing a human.

  • @lickchick14 EXACTLY. How the fuck are these people comparing killing dogs to human beings? I'm sick of these PETA freaks who compare animal lives to human lives. Most of us eat meat, which means we are involved in the death of animals 24/7. There are people who have killed and raped that have a better life than McClellan.

  • @ojideagu THANK YOU. I fully agree! @thekaryobin Please read his comment and understand why your argument can never be justified.

  • @lickchick14 LOL I've been arguing with loads of these fools on this page the past week, waste of time really. It's so ironic how so many of these obsessive "animal lovers" wish death on humans. Are we not animals too? I treat dogs and cats with 100% respect, but I'm not a self hating human.

  • @ojideagu Maybe you should be tied, in order to not be capable of self defense, and then somebody put a pibull to destroy you. Yeah, your blood and suffering are not so different to a labrador dog, and maybe the pitbull eat you (so there would not be a crime) because you could be food ,like a chicken, a labrador or something else. Fuck you! he made dogs fight for nothing and smile when they died! he didnt eat them! he only made them suffering for his own pleasure. FUCK YOU

  • @chamanista Er yes human's blood and suffering IS a lot more important than a Labrador dog. You might not like that fact but it's true.

Comparing a Pitbull killing a human to a human killing a dog is moronic.

  • Comment removed

  • I nearly cried after watching the documentry,in hindsight im so glad i didnt after hearing the dog incident.

  • @hardcorecentauri So killing a dog equals deaf and blind, and brain damaged not able to walk properly? and Loss of most of his memory.

  • @ojideagu..still a living animal,with feelings.

  • @hardcorecentauri Are you a vegetarian? I eat hundreds of dead animals each year

  • @ojideagu..I do aswell.Look its the manner how he went about it,going out pre meditated to buy animal and watch it get ripped to shreds for his own enjoyment. We dont go out and buy chickens and watch them get ripped to shreds before we eat.Their is a humane way of going about things.

  • @hardcorecentauri It's semantics. Hindu's see cows as sacred yet we eat millions of them each year. Maybe they would say it's Karma if YOU were disabled. What would you say then???

  • @ojideagu It certainly isn't semantics, but the fact that you inaccurately use the word indicates your ignorance and failure to grasp ethical debate. To compare it to a crime against humans is very christian and characteristically cruel; it sets up a false premise, raising humans up as superior. Finally, whether society punishes rapists or child-murderers to the extent to which we'd like is irrelevant. The question is whether a hideously cruel act deserves equally hideous punishment. I say yes.

  • @TheKaryobin Humans ARE superior, whether you like it or not. Just as a dog is superior to a mouse. Humans are the top of the chain. Is killing a mouse less serious than killing a dog? Yes or no? Clearly the answer is yes. Therefore killing a human is far more serious than killing a bloody dog.

People eat dogs in some countries, are you right to condemn them?

To Hindu's eating a cow is just as hideous to them.

  • @ojideagu Yes, I am right to condemn them - explore situational and absolute ethics. Pretending that we shouldn't condemn others for their ways leads to defending infant genital mutilation and flogging women for driving. Some things are wrong in an absolute sense, regardless of the cultural traditions.

Humans are not superior. We are simply dominant - the two are not the same. Your beliefs are deeply framed within Christianity and are very worrying. All life was not put here for your judgement.

  • @TheKaryobin I am not religious. Pigs are proven to be close to the intelligence of dogs. Yet that doesn't stop us eating them in the million each year world wide. Wake up call. YOUR moral ideals do not apply to other cultures. Are you a cultural supremacist? Horse

meat was acceptable in many countries and still is today. The only moral issue should be when numbers of an animal are low such as whales.

Are you claiming your moral ideology is superior because YOU believe it?

  • @ojideagu To try to help you understand further: it's about suffering. The dogs suffer tremendously before the Koreans slaughter them. That's the Korean's choice, and it's wrong. In many western countries cows don't suffer before we kill them. We know this as if they do the stress hormone released makes the beef bitter and inedible - the evidence is in the eating, literally.

Personally, I don't care who eats what; what I care about whether unnecessary suffering is inflicted.

  • @TheKaryobin You're clearly a cultural supremacist, who see's their idea's of "pets" and "food" as absolute and superior. Sorry, different cultures have different customs.

Would you allow dogs and horses to be eaten if they were bred and killed "humanely"?

  • @ojideagu Without any help from me you have managed to demonstrate that yours is the only culture to which my own is undoubtedly ethically, morally and educationally superior.

In regard to the rest of your ramblings, I feel that as yet I have nothing more to say. You have failed to take into account any of my previous two posts and as such have failed to challenge any of what was said - a failure which has been a strong theme throughout this debate. Learn to read and consider and I'll respond.

  • @TheKaryobin "my culture" I am British, so take your assumptions elsewhere. I am not even Asian and I respect another countries right to eat food they have traditionally eaten. Many people in Europe still eat horse meat, such as in France and Germany.

Are you superior to Germany and France now too? Piss off.

  • @TheKaryobin You're a close minded culturally ignorant bigot. Who has no interest in the customs and traditions of other nations. My culture is British, and you need an education quickly.

  • @ojideagu You seem to be unwilling to stop sucking on the tittie of cultural superiority, even though I've explained perfectly clearly that it is *suffering* I refuse to accept, not differing national cuisine. As a result I'll do for you what I've been doing to pay the bills for the last fifteen years - I'll invite you to explore higher knowledge. Please Google 'TED', follow the first link and enter 'Sam Harris Science Can Answer Moral Questions' in the search bar. Then we'll talk further.

  • @ojideagu Yup, certainly does equal that. He didn't accidentally run over it in his car, he had it torn to pieces. He deserves what happened to him - absolutely.

And it also might be worth exploring the myth of boxers being 'brave' - they're not remotely. Firefighters are brave. Soldiers patrolling the side of a road day after day for months knowing that any moment an IED could kill them - they're brave. Boxers aren't brave, they're sportsmen.

McClellan was a brutal, murderous cunt.

  • @TheKaryobin Oh piss off. He killed a fucking Dog not a human. Get over yourself. In Korea they breed dogs for food.

  • @ojideagu Lol! Oh well that's fine then - other people abuse animals so it's fine for anyone to!

You thick cunt. Do you know how stupid you sound trying to justify such callous cruelty in such an idiotic manner? You said "a fucking Dog[sic]". Not "a dog", a 'fucking' dog. That one phrase pretty much demonstrates your level of empathy and emotional intelligence. Do you cheer when 'fucking' foreigners get killed by US drones too?

Please tell me: what's your pitbull called?

  • @hardcorecentauri He didn't kill a human being

  • Comment removed

  • a bigger tragedy then this is the money I paid to watch wladimir klithscko and david hayes hug each other for 10 rounds or something. Horrible fight. horrible heavyweight era. true tragedy compare to this

  • harsh

  • harsh

  • i watched the documentary about this on one hand i do feel sorry for him to be paralized but when i heared the thing saying he put duck tape around a labradors jaws then set pitbulls on it. i like dogs alot and when i heared that it made me think that he does deserve it

  • @MrOlivergorman i was a bit disappointed when i heard that aswell buddy.

  • no one wants thats outcome on any fight , but it has happened before , remember michael watson , thy are in that ring to do damage and win , both guys were fighters not boxers , someone was always gonna get hurt , benn had been in wars b4 with eubank , he was always gonna go the distance

  • wow bet he felt like a dick celebrating like that

  • After killing that poor defenceless puppy. He deserves to suffer.

  • I felt really sorry for Mclennan after watching the fight and doumentary tonight but then i read an article in the observer that he bought a labradour puppy taped its mouth and let his pit bull tear it apart in his basement all to see how quick the pit bull could kill it...i wouldn't wish his fate on anyone but on the up side it may have saved some dogs lives...sympathy vote is out

  • @Joolspops Interesting, why wouldn't you wish it on him? If what you describe is true then I would certainly wish it on him - absolutely, every piece of it. I would also add that - again, if it's true - he deserved everything that happened to him and everything since.

Thanks for posting your comment; if it's true then I am now truly glad that the cruel and murderous cunt finally got his. I hope someone reads this comment to him one day, and that he has enough of a brain left to understand it.

  • @TheKaryobin It is true, after typing it on google you get page after page on it.

  • @Joolspops Honestl if its true then im glad hes a vegtable. id like him to be left for a pitbull now, do you have a link to the article at all?

  • what a disgrace these commentators were, the guy was obviously hurting inside and they were accusing him of "quitting" he had no option to "quit"

  • Poor, poor, fight with a very sad end.

  • Boxeed all my life, its a tuff life, the "destroyer" was an animal. what will be will be. But I wish Mc Clellan all the best, two warriors at there best

  • This is the most brutal fight I have ever seen. Two men were at their basic animal instinct. It is tragic what happened to McClellan. I wish him well for the future.

  • Ferdie Pacheco is an absolute cretin, how did he ever get his MD? did Don King buy it for him? McClellan is flat out in the corner they are shining a light in his eyes and he says `He may have a fractured orbit'. Look at Ali now and think, would you want Pacheco caring for a member of your family?

  • @Danazawa Pacheco was out of his depth. Tragic.

  • mcclellan was a bully in many respects and ran into someone not afraid of him...its sad what happened but what goes around comes back at ya

  • Remember McClellans attitude before the fight how he enjoyed hurting people. He certainly must regret saying such things with hindsight.

Very sad what happened to McClellan but it is the outcome that could happen to anyone in this brutal sport.

  • @nogurunomethod1 thats fucking nasty your talkin like he deserved it like it was his comeuppance for saying those things before the fight, like it was justice, you need to think hard about what you've said here, because it is wrong on all levels, no man deserves it, and boxers are known for talking trash before fights, take a look at ali, he probably dont regret saying those things, its all for the cameras and his reputation, his character

  • We were lucky in the 90's...Great Fights, unlike the crap today!!! Boxing has lost it!

  • Pacheco talk's complete shit, he reel's off a horrorshow of a list about what maybe wrong with McCellan, & then he say's after seeing Benn hit McCellan with a massive right @ 7:18

" we did'nt see a punch that was worthy" then" that was a hit, was'nt enough to knock him down" & then rattle's on about him quitting. & he's the fight doctor !! Jesus.................

  • Great fight, Benn's got such a big heart. Ferdie Pacheco "the fight doctor" keeps repeating how shot Benn is, i agree his leg's look rubbery but to be honest they always looked like that. Benn's head caught McCellan when he fell. McCellan's corner telling him "Benn cant win this fight he's to far behind" no one ask's McCellan how he's feeling? To be fair McCellan look's good at the start of the 10th round. It's very sad really knowing what we now know.

    God bless you G Mac.

  • the commentators are only a little bit biased.americans bleating about roughness, who'd have thought.tragic for mclellan though

  • Sad, you just know that when he went down on one knee and didn't continue he must have been feeling like hell, he must have known something was not right.

  • Great fight - shame about gerald but if you read up on his dog "exploits" he wasn't a nice guy.

  • all the money, fame and girls are nothing now to him. if only he could of seen that before.

  • @johnslack13 are you retarded? Look at the consequences to the other guy? How is that anything to do with race

  • and the moral of the story is, dont fuck with the english.

  • Comment removed

  • @johnslack13 fucking idiot

  • @itsthemoman U mad bro?

  • @MCPaddyB no why?

  • Us commentary makes me laugh. Biased as fuck. God bless America, yeah right... go and fuck yaselfs

  • He thought he was gonna take piss out of Benn, but didn't. Eubank and Benn , legends.

  • @DLPBurke And Collins.

  • Listening to the american commentary is also a joke! They miss all the dirty stuff mcLellan did while highlighting ecery little think Bernn does

  • some of the comments on here are laughable. Mclellan was used to getting rid of people early, something he failed to do with Benn. Just a shame he had to lose so much more than the fight. And also a shame that the yanks on here have to be the sore losers they always seem to be.

  • youre all cunts benn is a fucin legend

  • God bless Gerald!

  • The hair got in his eye and messed him up????????? jokin or wot

  • I wish Mcclellan had better defense!!! He would've had longevity in his career. It would've been cool to see him fight B-Hop or James Toney!!!

  • being hit like that from a puncher like Ben must be like being hit by a baseball bat,, no wonder Mcllelan got fucked up.

  • I never hated any boxer as much as Nigel Benn,He had no skill just a dirty boxer he was a brawler which is fair enough but he was a dirty fighter, Gerald mcclellan only went down because he was hurt, Benn still could not take him out of their,Ben Punched him at the back of the head so many times its fucking unbelievable referee was fucking shit, you cant rabbit punch, benn was a fucking cunt,Thats why this dirty cunt lost to Eubank twice & Collins twice

  • @panjabiwarrior LOL your such a cock, take your stupid opinion and your sore ass back to your dads bed. LOL!

  • @Saxe333 To come out with comments like that one has to be a sick Rapist or a sick Pedophile you ugly Monkey lol monkeyyyyyyyyy

  • @panjabiwarrior yea i agree, that piece of shit hit gerald 6-7 times in the back of the head in the 9th round alone. who knows how many during the whole fight. what a piece of shit! Nigel if you ever read this you suck and gerald kicked your fuckin ass!

  • @panjabiwarrior I used to think the same, until I saw him in this fight. But to come back having been knocked out of the ring in Round 1 is testament to the man's toughness. I don't like saying this but Benn nigh on killed McClellan in this fight. His legs were always quite a way apart which made him look less tidy than other boxers, Eubank for example. He was a brawler, I agree, but as tough a man as you'll ever see in the ring. Benn was a great.

  • @wickesm Dude you are using the wrong logic to prove someones a tough fighter, you can always give some one a low blow after getting beat or put the odd elbow in,If you know your Boxing you would know their has been many Brawlers but would not Hit at the back of the head, then you got some who would hold & punch & try all sorts of dirty tricks, Muhammed Ali he was A gentlemen never done anything dirty,Ben was a dirty fighter by Nature you just have to see some of his fights not all of them

  • Why Are you all argueing over this fight ,it was after all a fight betweeen two of the best pound for pound punchers in the world either could quite have easily ended up in a bad way, Ben spend a week in hospital pissing blood and broke every bone in his right hand.Thats boxing the only legal way to kill someone apart from the army .After this fight boxing was watered down and is now so over. And i watched this fight live on uk tv and it will always be with me.

  • @codge2112

how is boxing watered down now?

  • McClellan was fine in the 10th round before the big right from benn,he was dancing around jabbing, after the right he was a beaten man

  • If u watch the fight benn landed quite a few big right hands and left hooks to McClellan! U can't blame a headbutt for that damage! How many people do u know have slipped into a coma from a single head butt!! ?? I know of knowbody! McClellan got unlucky that's all, just like Watson!first person to ask questions of is the fighter himself! He knows the risks when fighting at such a high level,so he has to take some blame aswell

  • @elenaderek

Benn is 1000 times the warrior ull ever be!! Muppet

  • @latbeast I'm 6 foot 210 I doubt Benn would want to step into the ring with me but that wasn't my point. Benn was dirty throughout that fight. The head but was deliberate and it was a said day for boxing.

  • @elenaderek1 Yes, I'm sure Benn wouldn't want to fight a behemoth like you...smh

  • @ChappersLAD Not at 160 lbs he wouldn't.

  • @elenaderek1 Reading the rest of your comments on this video, according to yourself, you are a; Well informed, highly specialized physician, elite boxer and philosopher.

    Let's just leave it there.

  • Respond to this video... lol...not at 160lbs he wouldn't.

  • The headbutt was an accident, both fighters were shattered, benn was a proper warrior, tough beyond belief to come back in this fight.one of the great fights of all time.the damage could of been caused before the headbutt, nobody knows for sure

  • @latbeast For the record I will concede the point that Nigel Benn was warrior. Naybody who steps in that ring has my respect as a warrior however if you watch the fight it is clear that the headbutt was intentional. I don't believe he knew the damage it would cause but the proof is undeniable.

  • I remember at the time knowing that headbutt caused his brain damage and was the reason he lost the fight...very Dirty move by Nigel. Nigel Benn Just for ruining one of the best fighters of our generation's career is one of the dirtiest boxers of all time... warrior....please!

  • @elenaderek1 Don't be so boody stupid you know nothing idiot. Benn collapsed forward through tiredness and brushed McClellan with his hair. It wasn't intentional at all and if you think that a hair attack can cause brain damage, then you must be braindamaged yourself. The surgeon who saved McClellan's life said he suspected the injury was caused early in the fight. Morons like you would believe the moon was made of cheese if heartless callous pigs like Ferdie percheclout told you.

  • @Maxshard LOL...Brushed McClellan with his hair...Really...no Really...is that story you are sticking with? And as far as the surgeon if he had seen the fight he would have known the head trauma couldn't have been caused from blows early in the fight. early in the fight Ben was being beat from one edge of the ropes to the other and even through the ropes on one occasion. Moon made of cheese...clever.

  • @Maxshard LOL....brushed McClellan with his hair....really...no really you are going to stick with that explanation. The surgeon is an idiot and must not have seen the fight. early in the fight he didnt take any punishment...he was giving the punishment...remember Ben through the ropes, and getting knocked around the ring. Moon made of cheese....clever

  • Comment removed

  • @Maxshard lol you called me a blind moron and an embarrassment to my country because I have a different opinion then you but I'm the troll. I saw the fight when it happened...I saw the headbutt and remember my reaction when it took place. Top UK surgeon I'd love to have a conversation with him because my opinion is in line with most doctors on this planet.

  • @elenaderek1 Clearly you are determined to stick to your untenable opinions. Even the Yank commentators were oohing and ahhing at Benn's thunderous head shots from the 2nd round on. Benn flopped forward through exaustion and McClellan's head didn't move a bit. The dumbest commentator ever, Ferdie percheckout whined in true Yank fashion and said that was nasty but then he is a biased idiot. No butt cause Gerald's injuries, rabbit punches may have been a factor, but try and be objective.

  • I remember at the time knowing that headbutt caused his brain damage and for him to loose the fight...very Dirty move by Nigel.

  • his brain began to fail... he didnt need to fight anymore.. jus those couple of shots to the head.. told his body that enough was enough..

  • Thanks for this upload. I still have this on bad quality VHS. Without question the most exciting fight I have ever watched. I was off my chair when I watched it live for most of the fight cheering on Benn like a madman. What a performance from Benn.

  • people keep calling benn a warrior, but what about gman? to fight, and actually knock down a world class boxer while clearly exhibiting signs of brain damage and to not even get knocked down yourself? that's a warrior to me, just my opinion.

  • Punching to the back of his head!

  • I am very sad for Gerald....He was a warrior and Nigel is a damn good man...

  • Mcclellan had a pre existing condition or he wouldnt have had to take the knee. Benn isnt a legend!

  • @bb62g UK UK UK

  • This is the kind of fight that will go down in history as a classic contest. The ending was tragic, and McLellan is proof that boxing is a dangerous sport. The same thing could have happened to Tommy Hearns in the fight with Hagler, or any number of boxers in hard contests. The fact is that men will fight each other until the end of time, and they are all aware of the risks when they step into the ring. No one wants to see any boxer injured.

  • commentators are fuckin arseholes

  • Except the ones to the BACK OF THE HEAD!

  • maybe this tragedy happened to mclelan becasue of all of those really hard ass punches benn was getting that i guess the ref didn't see?? i don't know

  • Seeing Gerald go down on his knee the second time and when the camera shows his face is one of the saddest things i have ever seen. It is like you can just see he is losing his eyesight and he is barely able to walk back to his corner :(

Great match, great fighter with such a tragic ending.

  • @Darthmarlow3 such a sad result, if only they gavce him oxygen asap after the count he oculd of possibly been saved? he has now spent all his career earnings on care and lives in practically poverty.

  • @deangerousno1 McClellan received the best treatment available in world boxing. The rules all changed after Chrih Eubank almost killed Michael Watson. Watson sued and forced the changes, which include doctors, paramedics and a neuro surgeon being present at all fights in the UK. It isn't necessarily easy to predict what is wrong with a fighbter immediately, even when he is unconscious..

  • @Darthmarlow3 Nonsense, you couldn't "see" anything of the kind. We all thought it was due to exhaustion due to him never having been taken that far - and possibly a broken nose/cheek bone.

With retrospect you can "see" all kinds of things but I am sure you weren't saying that at the time.

  • Bias commentators

  • Fights like this changed the face of boxing.

  • Man, that was painful to watch. When he went down on a knee, you could really see the terror in his eyes. It looked like by then he didn't even care anymore about the fight, because he knew something wasn't right.

  • VERY SAD...HIS FUCKING BRAIN WAS BLEEDING

  • amazing fight, watched it live in 95' . Both brave fighters but Benn proved he had the bombs and the toughness to win in the end. McClellan had some big shots but didnt have the heart Benn had and just plain quit . and lets remember that Benn took way more punishment and still kept going. An all time classic from a rich period in that division. great win for Benn!!!

  • @cbravery Are you aware that Mcclellan suffered brain damage earlier in the fight? 'Plain Quit' did he?

Disgusting that you even dare to say that.

He wanted to quit because he knew he was in serious trouble, blinking and his corner forced him to fight on.

  • @cbravery There is nothing to celebrate about this fight. It is a tragedy.Nobody wins, the boxers, the fans, the promoters, Everybody Lost.If you are not mature enough to know this, then you are the loser. That goes for anyone giving praise and acting like a FOOL when a man lost everything he was, everything he had and everything he's going to be.This is not about UK vs USA.You are totally wrong and have no feelings or guts where it counts.A blood clot busting in the brain and you act like a rabid dog

  • One of the best fights iv ever seen.i think the gee man tried too hard to knock him out first round and gassed himself.i know benn threw rabbit punches, but to say the french ref favoured a (black) englishman is plain dumb.those french fucks hate us ad much as the taliban.two great warriors nether the less.respect
