Good speech, bad idea. Democracy is simply mob rule, and Republics aren't much better (instead of 51%, it's 66%, or 75%, and concensus can be 99.999% vs you). If argumentum ad populum (appeal to polls, popularity, votes) is an informal logical fallacy (and it is, look it up), then it's an illogical way to organize a society to use democracy. It can only lead to rule of the mob...the fickle, stupid, and violent mob. Much of the speech is good, except the conclusion. Anarchism is the answer.
I've watched this multiple times tonight because it is so moving. I love it. I cried the first time. This needs to be spread, to be heard by everyone. -3
@TheGeneralCritic what are you a pro tool? ofcourse it makes me mad, well more disappointed to see someone insult such good music. As if you haven't already, the music represents an ultimatum, in which charlie chaplin is delivering one. The music is perfect for the scene, when in the movie...well all I can say is no1 could take him serious in the movie.. Go ahead and watch it. The music is an augment to the speech, if you don't understand this then you can go somewhere else with yourpettyinsults
@Oraphonic Because there are several versions all ripped off from the original idea in the hope that the each uploader can cash in on youtube advertising, should they get enough hits.
As with most things on Youtube... The chances are, you are not watching the original. Not that it really matters in the case of this fine mash up, as it is irrelevant to which one of the many 20 or 30 different versions that somebody sees for the first time, it's an amazing experience.
I really like the combination of these two. If the music volume was scaled back just a tiny bit it would be nearly perfect, but that's just me. It's still very good though, ty for uploading. God bless.

democracy is bullshit that elites led by Jews are feeding us to sink in our institutionalized anarchy.
there is only the will of GOD, ALLAH, the all mighty, and his guidance that must be followed to lead us out of this misfortune, given to us through the teachings of his messenger Mohammad son of Abdulah.
@Mtl7712 Trolls. Children, who do things that others frown upon knowingly for nothing more that the thrill of irritating another human being. That being their only purpose in life of course.
i love this, but the message has one major downfall in my opinion. this speech emphasises the good of man and blames capitalism for the downfalls of man. screwing over a fellow man is a human trait, not a capitalist one. capitalism is by no means perfect, but no one is yet to provide another system that works any better because man will always find a way to benefit by hurting others, the only way to stop this is communism which only works because all are equally screwed over.
I find it funny that videos like this have such small view numbers yet stupid shit like Justin Beiber and Rebecca Black get millions of them. Seriously, people need to start pulling their heads out of their asses.
True, but it says this video was posted only a day ago. Granted, it probably won't garner the same attention because it is not going to blow up like "Friday" did. That's ok, though. This video needs to reach a different set of people than those who usually make a video go viral.
I'm not trying to post this maliciously, but you're probably socialist-leaning because you want more ideal conditions for the poor. I want the poor to be better off as well, and a system that provides incentives is one where innovation will thrive. Innovation + competition = lower prices, and in a country with gargantuan barriers to entry (Sweden, Switzerland, Finland), there's less competition, higher prices, lower quality jobs, and less consumer choice.
"Capitalism requires poverty and cheap labor, the excess money that capitalists call profit, is money they have stolen from the worker."
What a pile of shit. Did the workers take the risk of starting the business? Did they invest the funds necessary for startup? Are they responsible for paying its bills? Should they have their incomes cut if profits go down? Can they be sued if the business does something illegal? True socialism is every bit as authoritarian as you believe capitalism is.
I'm confused. You talk about capitalism as if it's a dictatorship, and yet it's a system based on the choices of consumers and entrepreneurs. You want to restore liberty by taking away the world's most free economic system. A government large enough to give you everything you want is one large enough to take away everything you have. And who would want to start a business in a society where you'd be just as well off at an entry-level retail job? Capitalism provides incentives, socialism doesn't.
A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
"People don't like to be meddled with. They tell us what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. They're in our homes and in our heads and they haven't the right. They're meddlesome."

this is what its trying to make people understand

@ProIndividual This. We should do every thing he said, but for the republic that has been destroyed. It must be rebuilt.
This is a very strong and moveing speech, I like chaplin as both a silent film star, and I gues now a public speaker too.
