@Strefanasha I don't think that that's exactly right. There is a righteously divine joy in Christianity, but that does not mean that the mark of a Christian is not suffering. Christ says that you cannot follow Him if you do not take up your cross for Him and suffer for Him. The joy and prosperity are spiritual in nature and they occur during this suffering, but that does not make the suffering any less real. A faith which does not involve sacrifice is empty.

Matthew did not collect taxes, but he became rich (more than what is needed) by doing so.The fisherman had lavish lifestyles by having "hired servants"in the NT! St Francis of Assissi did just that, even though he lived in or around the around the year 1100 or thereabouts. He had the opportunity to live a lavished life. Sold off everything and begged others in order to survive. He had such a great faith in God and later on became the patron saint of the animals. You are misinterpreting scripture kingdom. You forget it was God's will on earth that his own son should suffer, be beaten, persecuted, and crucified all because of his proclimation of being the Son of God. It was God's will that nearly all of the Apostles lived in poverty traveling all over, preaching Christ and him crucified, and meeting their Savior again as martyrs. I find it strange that your vision of such living is not given by any of the apostles in the new testament.

I don't know what you are talking about? The apostles were professional men(fishers,doctors,tax collectors,tent makers), some had hired servants...were did you get this poverty stuff from? Oh, that's what you were told...i get it!
