  • 110 pound both hands thats insane strenth for a fighter

  • @goldmine1995 bering in mind he only does weights 2/3 times a week he aint a body builder

  • 8 people are BJ Penn fans

  • 8 people are lazy and jealous.

  • Holy mother of Jesus!! I thought my 20lbs dumbbells were heavy?

  • mad respect for all mma and ufc fighters extreme training but they make it look easy, gsp is a beast

  • I had no idea how string he was, 150lbs dumbbell press, damn

  • @Gwedo898 No, he said it was a 110lbs dumbbell press, not 150

  • the hurdle jumps are impressive

  • do you know how heavy the medicine ball is for the slams and press??

  • damn he is a f*cking animal.

  • anyone notice how little they sweat? haha amazing!

  • omg this is brutal. i want to train there =D

  • thats one big mother fucking dumbbell

  • lol at the yell at 304

  • I'd really like to see Anderson Silva drop the weight and take on GSP. He's bored where he is, and show boats too much, he couldn't do that with GSP, and I'd like to think he knows it. It would be an amazing fight.

  • @mattgchev gsp is moving up to Silva

  • @dtanktdtank gsp is great though he is wee piere scared to move up he needs 5-7 months to fight each fighter at 170 he is great because he sticks to a game plan like no other and trains for each fighter for many months. Henderson has balls he will fight anyone with little notice at a higher weight class. I love gsp as a fighter but he is like mayweather in boxing a safe fighter

  • GSP is going to beat the shit out of Jake Shields...wont' be close at all

  • who you think would win if ever "the crow" fought gsp!!

  • @putrozza gsp without a doubt

  • @putrozza LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • They are 110 each.

  • man i gotta start lifting like GSP! he has been looking huge and strong since training with chaimberg.

  • Jake Shields was the Big Winner this weekend in Strikeforce.

Three of his last five opponents won by first round KO.

Hendo knocked out Babalu, Daley stopped Scott Smith and Lawler KO'd Matt Lindland.

Shields tapped out Lawler & Daley and dominated Henderson. Winner Shields.

  • Does anyone know what type of weight vest gsp is wearing? It looks very portable and compact.

  • @dragonman2006 go to Mirvestsdotcom or weightvestsdotcom and you can find ones like this.

  • jake shields is crazy overratedddd....no challenge for even top 5 ww in the ufc, not including gsp

  • Jake Shields will beat St Pierre.

  • OMG is he using 110 dumbbell in each hand???? Holy shit the big guys in my gym have trouble doing it with 90 lbs and they weigh 265

  • @wowstefaniv I think its two 55 pounds dumbbells not 110.

  • @lakkatony ahh then its not that impressive :P

  • @wowstefaniv YEAH IT'S OFFICIAL YOU SMOKING CRACK

  • @wowstefaniv lol hes a fighter not a body builder

  • @lakkatony no i doubt it those look bigger than 55 lbs. and plus i weigh way less then Gsp and im sure as hell not as strong as him and i can do 55lbs. without struggling so much. it has to be 110 each.

  • do you know how difficult it is for someone who weighs around 175 to dumbbell press 110? this guy is badass!

  • @tmacowns And that's after doing a few pull ups with 100lbs attached to himself (this case 90lbs).

  • @tmacowns he's probably 190-95 before he cuts down

  • @motus Jake Shields will be cutting from 185-188lbs, instead of 210lbs when he fights GSP. It took 2 years of strength & conditioning, protein/whey shakes and all the rest to add the muscle in the right way.

Only had 9 weeks from talking about fighting Silva, to change direction and drop 40lbs & get back to 170lbs. There is no right way to do that, but he made weight and won the fight.

    He will beat GSP.

  • @13seven13 I doubt he will, he had a hard time against kampmann, GSP is a smarter fighter with a great team. Shields might have the edge on the ground, but a hair at most. GSP is much more rounded, It might be an exciting fight but he's got a long way to go before taking the belt.

  • @tmacowns And pull-ups with 90 pounds around his waist .. Intense!

  • A kangaroo would envy GSP's jumping explosiveness.

  • @cowboyup6866 its got a weight component at the end. It looks like the belt you attach when your doing weighted pullups.

  • At the end with the rope pull... How is that hooked up and where is he getting the resistance from?

  • @mixmaster2669 gsp is on a completely different level to the bums you mentioned there, mayhem miller? Haha that spaz doesn't stand a chance in the ufc. The likes of pitbull, fitch, koscheck would dominate those guys. Then look at what gsp continuously does to the ufcs top contenders.

Hendo is a great fighter but he was way past his best, I'm telling you there is NO WAY shields would beat gsp. Respond if you wish but I won't be back for a gay YouTube argument

  • @wallpaperfrog Well look at recent fights, Hardy/Henderson---Alves/Lawler---Fitch/Okami---Penn/Sakurai---Serra/Daley-or Codit---Hughes/Verissmo-or Masaki etc.

Shields kept himself in top 10 opponents by winning and defending four Championships.

  • that dumbells tied to his balls thats how tough he is

  • These are good workout techniques. I always see guys in the gym going up and down too fast. I always knew going down slow is the best way.

  • a fight i would love to see is gegard mousasi vs GSP(if GSP moved up in w. class)

  • This guy turned gsp into a monster in mma.

  • Jake Shields said he wanted Anderson Silva and the # 1 contender at MW, because St Pierre was busy into next year. So no sense dropping back to WW to soon.

  • GSP is just on another level as an athlete

  • @dannydollarfan1 goddam absolutely right. hes on another level. i herd he could have been a proffesional hockey player. i know hes good at ployometrics but i didn't know he was this strong.

  • Interesting to note that the med ball slams immediately following a strength exercise wasn't in chaimberg's dvd

  • Holy shit!! He's really strong for his weight

  • i think the only legitimate fight for gsp is to take on anderson silva. that would be the ultimate dream matchup.

  • Since the Hardy fight Jake Shields looks like an even more dangerous opponent for GSP. Shields is a lot stronger and more explosive at 170lbs, the welterweights are in the UFC.

When EliteXC went under Dana said Shields was the only fighter the UFC wanted and he just said it again last week.

Even if he pulls off an upset against Hendo, there are only a couple fights at MW and none at WW. So it will be the UFC.

  • what is the last exercise on the white sliding thing?

  • that works your inner thighs. you can also do that on ice. what that white pad does is simulate ice.

  • Chaimberg from montreal is widely regarded as one of the top strenght and conditioning coaches in the mixed martial

  • Jesus Christ these guy do a ton of lats

  • i am an mma fighter and my conditioning coach puts me through an hour session of relentless, push ups, burpees, sled pulls, tyre flips, kettle bel excercises etc. I seem to have the best endurance of all the fighters who do the session with me, but i struggle in things like pull ups and jumping over anything high. so i wanted to ask what type of conditioning session people think is better for improving. the more scientific approach seen in this video or the type of workouts i have been doing.

  • @TKfanx94 power conditioning. you seem to have alot of strength, endurance and obviously cardio, but anything with transfering weight from one distance to another is power. for example, i bencpress 300 pounds slowly, but you benchpress 200 but super fast, thats called power.

  • ya casue the actual formula for power is like mass times time i think or time times mass times distance something like that

  • when u hit someone, u want more momentum. Newton's first law of Inertia on linear momentum is momentum=(mass)(velocity). So either get bigger or hit faster. To hit faster, consider plyometrics.

  • Sounds like all the exercises you have been doing are good and you have endurance. However, imagine if you had better absolute strength and were more powerful. If you had greater strength and power to endure you would be taking it to the next level. In GSP's training he might finish some workouts with the sled, burpees, and/or kb's but only after doing some of the heavy strength and power work.

  • GSP is on another level of training. For someone to beat GSP they need to hit harder, have a hard chin to take a punch, out wrestle the best, have strength of an ox, out train, out condition, the list is 2 long....."I'm out of breath just typing the list"

  • @edwin9020 no one is out wrestleing gsp trush me

  • @edwin9020 you dont really gotta hit harder you gotta be more technical !why it always gotta be brute force ,technique always beat force... gsp is a great fighter!

  • @edwin9020 Lucky punch ;)

  • @edwin9020

I dont think anyone can beat GSP. He already beat guys that have the attributes you mentioned that a fighter needs to beat him:

Out wrestle the best: Koscheck was a 4 time all american wrestling champion

Hit harder: Dan hardy, Thiago Alves

Strength of an ox: dan hardy

  • Beast

  • he sounded like fucking Van Damme while on the bench throwing the ball upwards

  • what does the ball slam do?

  • it's an explosive exercise that also targets the lats, which the pullups were also targeting.

  • Jake Shields will coach grappling for the Chuck Liddel TUF team.

    Oh say UFC !!!

  • power and speed

    champion

  • this might be a random question but what is the name of the rope pull machine you use?

  • It's called a rope attatched to a weight.

  • Comment removed

  • Now thats what I call functional strength training

  • George is such a gentleman I love how he reracked the weight during his bench and didn't just drop them on the floor like every guy at my gym does.

  • i wish i could train like that .the again i.d problable die

  • ifight365: GSP said Jake Shields would be a Dream Fight, like Fedor vs Lesner. Then said " I think Shields would beat me in a grappling match, I'm being honest, but I think I could beat him in MMA, but there is only one way to find out." I want to put this out, I think it moves the fight it a little closer. Shields vs GSP is THE FIGHT I've been waiting to see. Like most people I've seen GSP fight a lot, but I have also seen Shields fight 12-13 times. P4P & GSP wants him, he's good.

  • st pierre gonna win over shield go st pierre

  • No way Shields would out grapple GSP. GSP is just way too strong and fast for Shields. GSP would take him down and be ontop of Shields. Shields wouldn't beable to reverse it.

There are better WW's than Shields, like Fitch and Alves.

  • @rtc7788 what? Alves? GSP made Alves his bitch at UFC 100 and he tore his groin in the 3rd round!

  • Yes Alves > Shields. I know GSP made Alves his bitch. But Shield does not = GSP.

  • @rtc7788

Pretty solid analysis. I haven't, to this day, see any 170 that can wrestle or grapple with GSP. Not even Kosheck could, and that is saying something.

  • that would be a dream but now GSP is facing...Dan Hardy :\

  • beastt

  • I was doing something similar to this style of strength work at home for my lower body. I would do 3 pistol squats per leg with a weight allowing for only 3 reps, followed immediately by 10 jumping squats while holding that same weight. 5 rounds, 60 sec rest in between. It would take no more than 7 min 30 sec to do. Very quick and intense way to blast your legs!

  • The only reason to think Shields doesn't belong is because he's not in the UFC. Sports Illustrated, Inside MMA, Sports Today all have Shields in P4P rankings. Check out his record and compare it to a WW ranked between 2 &10. Jake has 6 top 10 and 7 top 20-30 wins. For comparison, Swick and Hardy have 2 top 30 wins each and no top 10 wins. The winner of their fight is next for GSP. Name recognition is not the same as tough competition.

  • cant even believe ppl are comparing jake shields to gsp

  • GSP would destroy jake shields!

  • dudes like a fucking kangaroo

  • SHIELDS for GSP the UFC needs to get SHIELDS asap.

  • Jake Shields is the last fight at ww.

  • yeah i agree.. i think jake shields is the only legitimate fighter left for GSP to fight....Others like mike swick dont stand a chance

  • @CopyNinja87

jake shields would get raped, just like the rest of apparently "biggest threats yet" that gsp wastes every time. the only two fights that he lost he redeemed and shouldn't have lost in the first place. he's more or less invincible at ww anyway. i reckon he'd wipe out most middleweights as well. he trains with lightheavys and takes them down all the time ( suga rashad and jardine), so he'd have no problem with mw.

  • @wallpaperfrog Jake Shields was going to be killed by Sakurai and Kikuchi, he was going to be murdered by Okami, Condit and Daley. Then he was going to be rapped (latent homo term ?) by Lawler, Mayhem and Hendo.

Shields is P4P and ranked behind Silva at middleweight, and he is an natural welterweight.

  • @CopyNinja87 Jake Shields is for sure real and I look forward to see him in the UFC.

  • @CopyNinja87

    never

  • @CopyNinja87 john fitch is a smart dude i think he could at least give gsp some difficulty

  • @icharuswing i agree.. if koschek loses to GSP then fitch could be next.. it wud be a good fight as well

  • @CopyNinja87 true, but he would get smashed on the stand up if he doesnt change his striking style. hes too stiff and slow when throws his punches and gsp is too quick and powerful for him. i say he might not even win his ufc debut, but who knows?

  • @FromDaPeg yeah i agree to man...over all, i think GSP would still beat shields..He will do his usual tactics, take the opponent down in the early rounds, then when the opponent is ttired, hes gonna box with him coz their shoudlers are weak and tireds already, then another voring decision win for GSP..

Hopefully, GSP will have the courage to fight A.Silva at 180..GSP is a biog welterweight anyway

  • @CopyNinja87 to me its not really boring like alot of people like to think, but if you've ever grappled or anything like that you'll understand the technique that goes into the ground game. either way standing or on the ground gsp will dominate, theres isnt any fighters in the ufc welterweight division that can beat gsp at the moment, and yes that would be a good fight if gsp fought silva, but just wait silva will have his first tko or ko loss to vitor belfort. first or second round tko or ko

  • @CopyNinja87 Jose aldo would be a good fight for GSP at a catch weight as well as Anderson Silva.

  • @xRelentlessx1 I like the way you think bro. anderson would i think aldo might be a little 2 small

  • wow gsp lifted 220 lbs with pretty good form and ease...i wonder how much he maxes but judging by his pecs i wouldnt say too much but it doesn't really matter for his sport hes such an accomplished fighter....

  • Pec size does not necessarily indicate upper body strength.

  • no it doesn't but its a good indicator to how much someone benches hence most of their upper body strength. would you agree?

  • Again, not necessarily, watch this: Does this guy look like he has the size to dead and squat 704 lbs? Well he's only 165 lbs!!!! His arms are not that big at all and yet he is deading over 4x his bodyweight. Most 200 lb bodybuilders can't dead 704 lbs. Yet their arms are twice as big as this guys. And I have never seen a 200 lb bodybuilder that can dead 4x his bodyweight....or even close. Yes, a bigger muscle can be a stronger muscle, but only if it is trained properly.

  • yes i agree, not necessarily.... but it is a good indicator.

  • the point is to be explosive witch makes the muskle build with more power. still to compare a mma fighter to a bodybuilder by the amount of weight they lift is a bit silly for bodybuilders dont train to lift huge weights. and im not saying that your comment was bad, it was a good comment=)

  • You guys find the dumbest shit to argue about.

  • ?????

  • weight vest is awesome and GSP focus on safe and good technique is great! and seems to be rarely seen by a lot of other trainers...much respect!

  • The combination of slow twitch and fast twitch muscle training is old news. His trainers are run of the mill; dime a dozen; unoriginal.

If you want good fight conditioning tips, do football drills. Those techniques really improve your cardiovascular conditioning as well as improve strength.

  • If theyre run of the mill why is GSP in such good shape that he dominates and wins his fights? and why don't I see any football players on GSP's level? hmmm...

  • "If you want good 'fight' conditioning tips, do 'football drills'."

Do you not see something wrong with that? GSP is not a football player, therefore, he shouldn't have to train like one. These exercises in the video are for his explosiveness and strength which aids his takedowns and maintaining dominant position in a fight.

  • lmao, so youre implying that football players are in better shape than mma fighters

  • To answer all of your questions, idiots, they are completely different sports. Although, the strength and conditioning techniques of both athletes are HIGHLY similar. I trained both MMA (non-pro) fighters and College football players.

Look up cave man training and crossfit training. Those are more football conditioning drills that MMA fighters use.

    Get your facts straight.

  • clearly you're the idiot. telling someone to change their "unoriginal" workout, to go do football drills, when their "dime a dozen" workout clearly works and isnt broken..

  • Very well then. When you are NASM, ISSA, ACE, and CSCS certified, you can tell me the way I train is incorrect.

By the way, what in your resume or education, even, gives you insight into HOW to train people.

I never said these workouts were incorrect, but rather, not as effective.

GSP is a dominant figure in UFC because of his fighting technique. Technique and conditioning are two different training fields.

  • i'm sorry but you're a fucken idiot.. his video is about maintaining and building your explosiveness throughout the rounds. so i donno why you keep bring up cardio and conditioning . and as for GSP, sure he has technique, but the main reason for his success in the ufc, is cause of his explosiveness combine with his strength/speed along with his conditioning and ability to execute his trainer's gameplan .

  • As for my insight, i've wrestled for 6 years, boxed for 2 year, muy thai 4 years, judo 3 years. Ive seen some many different athlete come through the mats and football players have the worst conditioning out of them all. and i'm just curious, when did i ever say the way you train is wrong?

  • Now, what caliber of football players have come into the the ring in your experience? That may be the difference in our opinion. I have seen college level athletes who have played football move into MMA and have had much better conditioning than those who started in MMA.

  • Not as effective as WHAT? GSP is a great fighter because he has technique, power AND strength. And his cardio is solid. But what Chaimberg is doing here is working on GSP's strength and power. GSP takes people down because he has good technique, BUT he has the power and strength to finish the drive. All the wrestling technique in the world is useless unless you have the speed and power to go with it. And I train with a guy that fought GSP and he said GSP is strong beyond description.

  • I usaully drop the dumbells in pain. GSP stood up and put them back on the rack lol hes the man. Much respect

  • Big fucking dumbbells

  • HOLY SHIT look at those goddamn dumbbells

  • GSP IS THE MAN!

  • good shit

  • the best

  • I actually really like the mix between fast and slow wieght training think I'll add that into the old routine

  • holy fuk!

  • Denis kang is a fuckin tank

  • Blackberry at 2:43

  • it will happen the same thing to you then BJ Penn, Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves, no 1 contender, the biggest challenge of his live and bla bla, finally complete domination by GSP ....

  • omg 2:42

  • LMAO @ Ovaltine

  • fuck you dude, you're dreaming, go fuck yourself ass hole

  • post vids or fuck off

  • ok kid.

  • that hurdle shit was wild, this man is in the best shape that anyone has ever been in in life!

  • wow..

  • GSP is a great gentlemen as well as a fighter.

  • Yes, he wipes his ass with versace fabric and washes his hands after shagging.

  • 2:55 i believe he can fly

  • Sa c'est une entrainment comme j'aimerais faire =D

  • wow, GSP cleared those hurdles with a few inches to spare !! insane...

  • nice randy couture t-shirt

  • wow I'm most impressed by GSP's hurdle jumps!!! That was amazing!

  • I would like to train with Mr. Chaimberg how would one do this

  • these people must have a lot of physical and mental endurance to do that kinda training!

  • What a gentleman GSP is. Notice when he was done doing the dumbbell press hes trainer said just put them on the floor and still GSP places them back on the rack. If it was me I would have dropped them like a shit brick. Truly a gentleman and good gym etiquite.

  • Spartan Training

  • Woow 110 pounds is like 50 kg daaamn he is strong !

  • Some "MMA" guys at my gym have been doing those body rows lately, now I know why LOL. (this comment isn't a slight to MMA which I am a fan of, but rather the 18-21 year olds who go tot he gym in Tapout gear and do horrible flailing punches/kicks at the heavy bag with a badass look on their face).

  • What about the 17 year olds, and the 22 year olds with the Affliction gear? lol

  • Um... he gets tested for steroids several times a year. Maybe some GH or testosterone boosters, but I highly doubt he's juicing.

  • the slow negatives are paired with explosive concentrics, which are in turned paired with yet another explosive exercise. The negative increases strength and queues the muscle to use all of its muscle fibers, which then get their full explosiveness out of things like medicine ball slams. And in BJJ there is a lot of negative work, wrestling is explosive but when doing BJJ you will feel the benefits of resistance training.

  • complex training?

    totally new since the 70's.

  • You're talking out your arse.

Sets of 3 exhaust the muscle? Pffft.

  • not if you do it at a controlled pass in numbers like 10 each time psshhh that's like saying staying awake more than 8 hours a day is going to kill you and whip away any chance you had at being mariied and make you look like you were mondona lolz

  • That's true people, universatile is right. Don't just give him thumbs down because you hold GSP' training on some untouchable level. Training the negatives slowly causes you to take a LOT longer to recover. If you don't beleive me, try it your self. Bust out 5 sets of 10 @80%, then proceed to Smack your self when your muscles still ache a week later, from that one day @ the gym. LOL

  • As he explodes in the concentric phase he uses as many muscle fibers as possible.

as he comes down he uses slow excentric movement to recruite many muscle fibers also.

He uses this with functional movements a push then a pull basic but very effective

  • so that's where gsp's massive back came from. those workouts hurt my back just watching.

  • GSP's back isn't even that big. It's just his tiny waiste and good bone structure that makes EVERYTHING look Street Fighter 2 like. Plus, even though his muscles are small, they're VERY matured and dense. IDK if that's natural hyperplasia or a result of external igf-1 but cha'.

  • what u talkin about man, do you know what POUND 4 POUND means ?!
