It's actually Oprah Winfrey's Legend Ball and these group of videos are some of the most inspiring videos/tv shows that I've ever seen. I'm thankful for Oprah and all of the LEGENDS that she celebrated. Watching her show makes me want to be a better, more productive person.
Rihanna and Nicki Minaj need to watch this. There were alot of blk women who the paved they way for them but too many of these youngsters are hooked on Marilyn Monroe. What about black beauty?
@shipp715 Oprah invited Beyonce but she couldn't make it. Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and more also couldn't attend due to schedule conflicts etc.
@TheGoldenEyedboy Certain people want to be included in everything we do, like we are great friends or somethin, lol. Its called narcissism, and self righteousness. They think the world does and should revolve around them....
Im so upset that some idiot in the comments dared to say TINA TURNER didnt need to be there!!!ARE YOU INSANE!?Tina broke Barriers. She is THE QUEEN OF ROCK AND ROLL and made way for MY FAVORITE entertainer of today BEYONCE to be the amazing performer that she is.TINA IS AMAZING i cannot believe how dumb people are
Can't believe that Oprah served something with pistachios. I thought that "nut-free meals" were like an un-written rule of dinner parties. So many people have nut allergies.
On another note. I'm a little offended that Oprah didnt invite me. lol
If there is one time or place in the world I could have been a fly on the wall, this would have been the place. An amazing gathering of legends, an amazing show of respect to women who made a difference in EVERYONE'S lives...not just black women.
johannna, thank you. thank you very much. i missed this when it aired. i've favorited it so that it will show on my channel, as well. thanks for posting. God bless!
Tina Turner deserved to be there as much as anyone- She survived incredible personal problems from violent abuse/rape etc to name a couple. she faught hard to get to where she is now.She forged a career for herself even when she had debt. and turned her life around. She stands as a True legend to survival.and proved that You could change your life for the better no-matter what. She became the true Queen of Rock and Roll. and a wonderful role model for everyone young/old etc..
@ludel Your right Diana Ross did some amazing things in the early days but once the 80's rolled around she stopped charting and only had success in the UK. On the otherhand Tina has spent the last thirty years of her life breaking ticket sales records and charting worldwide
I barely even have a front lawn, I have more front dirt! It was a wonderful idea. That's the thing about being Oprah, you can put some of your ideas into practice.
@jmaine44 Tina Turner sang a few songs , there are women there who changed the way the entire wold views civil and human rights , if you think tina turner shaking her ass on stage is more important than that you need to seriously re-evaluate your life.
@Matty3Mite3 Tina Turner is a singer/songwriter/entertainer/mother/grandmother and a girlfriend!! so i suggest you stop this mess before your ass get dealt with!!!!
@Beyoncefan1000 How pathetic do you look making threats over the internet? Get a grip. I'm not saying she's not an amazing singer, but there were people there that changed the world, that changed the way your parents lived their lives, that changed the world you grew up in. That's more legendary than winning Grammy's.
@Matty3Mite3 Lokk here, Im not about to feed into your stupidiness ok! you know damn well who Ms.Tina Turne ris and how she influeneced a mirage of singers/entertainers who came after her and her life story gave women and men alike the courage to leave situations in their lives that was hindering them from getting to their rightful destony!!! she is a LEGEND who changed many lives and in turn changed the world!!
@Beyoncefan1000 I'm not denying her music helped, but her influence was minimal compared to some of the women there, some of the women there changed the world as you know it, they effected laws, government bodies, legal doctrine. They made it possible for you to be allowed to insult people you do not know over the internet without consequence purely because they don't share your opinion.
@Matty3Mite3 lol My problem with you is that you have the audacity to insult a Legend who has paved the way for alot of female as well as male performers but, because she "quote on qoute" didnt really fit the bill then your ass want to voice it on youtube!!! Bitch please!!
I almost cried when I watched this. Its SO GOOD to see a sista like Oprah APPRECIATE and give props to other sistas from the past who paved the way for SO MANY others. You see so much self hatred and envy with black folks now days...it was very refreshing to see this. I love Oprah and all of the legends and youngins, who continue to represent black people with out being half naked as a video vixen or wear their pants sagging and being a thug. Thank you Oprah and god bless everyone in this video.
I'm still stuck on the "front lawn" bit! Damn Oprah. That's some Billionaire grass
