Actually both made good progress, the reason why Hitler failed was due to one small thing. Cockiness, the Barbarossa campaign was too impractical to start with but he was on deep waters. If he chose to finish Great Britain Mr.Stalin might launch an all out offensive while most of his troops are focusing on the British Isles. So he chose to attack the USSR first, a bold plan but a risky one. One small slip and it's all over. Turns out he slip of the stairs.

They are somewhere in the game folder in .vaw or .mp3 format, I don't remember. I think you have to go C:/.../Civilization IV/assets/sound/diplomacy or something like that.
