  • YOUR C STRING LACKS IN VOLUME WITH THE OTHER 3 STRINGS, IT DOES NOT HARMONIZE VERY WELL WITH THE OTHERS, ISN'T IT...

  • I love you Mr Queixoso.

  • this is very good for beginner..it's same as when i start to learned my cello also..i love it..

  • BOWTIE!!!

  • Thanks for these inspirational uploads. Fav'd.

  • (Why vibrato ?

  • Inspiring..am with you step by step...note by note!!

  • I was in love with cello, now I'm even more..! Thank you!

  • Who is this mysterious man? His ability with the cello far exceeds his taste in bow tie, and his taste in bow tie is not bad at all!

  • thank you for those videos, they help me out great!!!you are awesome and a very good teacher,i wish i could follow your lesson!!

  • i like how all of a sudden he was like, "what you want to acheive is: bdddbdbdbdbdbdvdbdbvbd". i was like O.O

  • @happybirthdayto007 more like x_x

  • My brain hurts just listening to this XD my left hand is not going to want to cooperate but hopefully I can teach it!

  • I'm shocked cello teachers don't bash this all the time. I would have spent $150 on lessons by now if it wasn't for these videos... Although it would be more accurate to say I wouldn't be learning cello because I'm not about to pay for lessons anyway.

  • ... a price of a small basic car!). Take your teacher with you if you are about to buy a cello for 100 bucks. The avarage good ones for beginners will cost more than a 1000.

Maybe you are in your lucky day and you indeed will find a very cheap one; but don't illude yourself: take a teacher or professional with you (if you want to take cello seriously).

  • cellos are expensive! that's for sure... l haven't seen yet a 2nd hand cello that sounds good and at the same time cheap (unless they are made in plywood, and my goodness, don't learn your ear with a plywood one!) . they are instruments for life and like wine the older the better (if you conserve it properly of course); wood used for constructing is expensive, apart of the work involved on a cello construction (not referring ones made by a craftsman, which the instrument can almost cost...

  • my little brother bought a cheap $400 cello off ebay, when he got it it was the worst cello i'd ever heard. I got mine for $100 off a garage sale and its great ! :D

  • to Fiqx21: I bought a cello a few years ago off ebay for about $250. It was awful. Really cheap. I would definitely rec. going to a reputable music store so you can see and play the instrument. Or, rent one. A poorly made string instrument is going to frustrate you.

  • anyone knows if the e-bay cello costing around $250+ is worth buying?i'm a beginner and wants to play cello as a hobby(for fun).i didn't expect to get a cello of a $1000+ so if the e-bay cello sounds good enough.i'll take it

  • No, it's probably not

Especially if it comes in any color other than natural wood

Learned my lesson the hard way when I got a violin on ebay

    It sounded absolutely horrible

    I suggest renting one

  • @Fiqx21 Hi Fiqx - you get what you pay for. But 'for fun' it will probably be fine. The risks you take are that the wood will crack etc, but if you end up enjoying cello so much you want to play properly you can invest in a higher quality cello. Hope this helps.

    (P.S.) consider an electric.

  • my god what instrument is that??...is that a guarnari? guadagnini?

  • its a cello

  • @hollistercalicuitey wow holy shit you sure know your instruments!

  • @porpoisefathom recursii

  • @hollistercalicuitey this guy is a brian of harvard men

  • i wish i can follow him lol i'm still an beginner

  • its really pretty easy once you practice half an hour a day i can now read notes and im in advance class also i can wiggle my fingers =D and im only 12 years old ;D

  • excellent lesson! so helpful! thank you

  • Thanks for the comments guys. Does anyone know where to get an electric cello at an affordable price? I would need an electric one, cause I live in a flat. Those at a price range of 3000 dollars are just a dream, but I don't know if those ultra cheap Chinese ones are worth buying... A used one would be OK for me I guess...

  • The cello has little in common with the bass or guitar. But proceed anyway. You will be in for a lot of work as not much helps you from guitar. Take it from me a classical guitarist that is still struggling with cello after 3 years to sound good.

  • huh! little common? well lets see they both play in the same clef, both use the same notes. If you have plucked a bass you can pluck a cello. The only big difference is that they are held differently and tuned differently.

  • i agree. ive been playing for about a week after playing bass for 3 years and the hardest part is adapting to bowing. the scales and fingering are cake.

  • @diamondbass11 wow! me to! bass is fun, but cello has so much more scope with what you can play =D

  • @DonkeyManda432 yeah, cello does offer alot more opportunities

  • Anyone started playing the cello after bass guitar? Is it hard? Do they have anything in common?

  • i am playing after guitar, but i have tried bass, which is almost the same as guitar

it is easy the whole left hand thing and the right hand is just getting used to it

  • I play bass guitar, have toured in a couple different bands with bass, acoustic, and I play semi-professionally on the French Horn (having toured to places like south korea and japan). As far as musicality goes, if you are proficient in music theory and rhythm in general, it is easy to apply those skills to any instrument. As far as the technique goes, the left hand is quite easy to adapt to cello if you've ever played fretless bass. The hard part for me was learning bow control. Good luck!

  • I did. There's two things that you get from bass/guitar playing that translate to cello.

    1) You already know how to move your left and right hands independently

    2) You have a good feeling for what major and minor scales are supposed to sound like

That doesn't sound like much, but it allows you to pick up a cello and learn it's differences much quicker than someone who doesn't play a stringed instrument already.

  • You're Great! I love your videos!

  • This video is genius. My cello teacher rushes the lessons and she really does throw me in the deep end. But after 2 lessons i understand everything and i also realised how i was doing things wrongly. Thank you.
