I am an HGV driver and lifelong cyclist and THAT was totally unacceptable,i would have reported him/her.....it looks like an EMR (European Metal Recycling)truck to me...its people like this that give lorry drivers a bad rep!!!
Please, purchase a copy of the highway code, and refer to the following; 67 162 - 169
I am sorry to say, as a cyclist myself, and PSV driver, you are in the wrong, no matter how you look at it. Judging by the height of the camera, you made no attempt to check behind you for traffic approaching.
Now I can hear you saying, 163, give vulnerable users room, but you failed to adhere to 67 and 162. You could automatically argue 168, since any and all vehicles will attempt to overtake you.
It's a bit like sailing a dinghy in front of an oil tanker and saying I have the right cos I'm sailing and you have to give way as you are under power. Personally I would slow down a little and let the hgv pass before I pulled out. But I'm one of those cyclists who actually doesn't enjoy being a hazard to others.
Nothing happen, i will wait for your video where it is going wrong because you don't looked over your shoulder. You know that you have to look in your mirror when you drive in your car before you move to the right or left and you don't do that when you on a bike?
That is really stupid of you because you always have to watch around for people who don't see you on time and have to react on that if you want to be a good driver, and you are not.
@ZaxIntel yeah but he was in the parked cars side of the road.. to come out from that side (you can sort of look at it as a separate lane) to where the traffic is moving you really should look behind your shoulder
Hell i hope that wasn't a helmet cam there is no way I'd pass a car without looking first after all flesh and bone is no match for a car let alone a truck!
as a bus driver I would have held back and waited for you to pass all of the parked cars, anyone who disagrees obviously doesn't drive and if they do they shouldn't have a license! Very dangerous driving by the HGV.
LOL thats funny, you actualy thought the Lorry should wait for you..........appart from that.......your not very road safety concious, holding up a phone so you can take a video while your meant to be riding. I think you would find that IF the driver hit you and IF it went to court YOU would be at fault for "without due care and attention".......sheesh do you cyclists think your above the law or something?
@aquanick2001 I don't think you realise how stupid you look.
"your not very road safety concious, holding up a phone so you can take a video while your meant to be riding"
Focus on the basics first, Maths, English and Science before you even consider law school, but don't let anyone dampen your ambition to be a lawyer I'm sure your "trolling" of cyclists videos is all research, not just the fact you're a social retard and have nothing to do while all the other kids are playing.
Yeah give way to the traffic on your right. You shouldn't just suddenly come over to the right hand side and expect that lane of traffic to stop or make way for you. Consider taking up primary position before you get to parked cars. Alternatively, wait until you get to a parked car and then veer over to the right hand side and find yourself under the wheels of an hgv. Up to you really.
I am going to say this is your stupidity! You did not look behind you to see if you could go. If you did you would of noticed a lorry and with all common sense (I hope) you would of stopped. And if the lorry hit you, you would probably not be here today. It would also be your fault, you did not check your right, probably did not signal your intentions. FYI its a lot easier for you to stop the the lorry.
I dont usually support the cyclists who post these videos as 99% of them show a large degree of ignorance and hostility towards motorists. However in this case the lorry driver was clearly in the wrong.Im a coach driver&instructor and I feel the lorry driver should have seen that the cyclist would need to move out and that there was a car positioned ahead of him waiting to cross his path into a sideroad. The bottom line is we teach motorists to give cyclists a 2m gap.He would have failed his test.
One day you will get your ultimate video, shame you won't be able to post it. All just to make a stubborn point. Remember: Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
Tyler and Steve smith you are idiot s and need some driving and cycling lessons.
It is not a legal requirement to signal when passing an obstruction. Nowadays car drivers are advised (and taught) that signalling to pass a parked car or other obstruction is unnecessary. It should be obvious to other road users you are not just going to drive into the obstruction. Hence a signal is unnecessary.
The lorry driver would have failed his test driving like that. That says it all.
JameyCam you are a bit of an idiot and need some driving and cycling lessons.

At the end of the day if you was driving down a 2 lane dual carriageway & there was a car parked in the left lane up in front you wouldnt just move round it without any regard for the traffic in right lane. You wouldnt expect drivers in right lane to expect you to just move out without any signals. Learn how to use the road you muppet & get a life!!!!!!!
@tyler4164 This isn't a dual-lane carriageway, it's a one lane road, so you're talking shit. Anyone is perfectly entitled to move around obstructions however they please as long as they don't veer across into oncoming traffic (which I didn't). What happened here is that the HGV decided to overtake me at a piss-poor time when I was already going around a parked car. He's at fault & if anything had happened I'd be taking him to the cleaners. PS you're now blocked from posting. Off you fuck.
@JameyCam I was using the dual as an example u complete moron. When changing direction on any road you are taught to check mirrors or in your case look over your shoulder. Stop acting like a retard & learn how to use the road. Maybe you should go & gain your cycling profiiciancy you dick!!!!!!
@tyler4164 I didn't change direction - I carried on going forward in the same lane, without crossing the central white line, just like I had been for quite a while before the beginning of the clip. All of the decision-making was done by the HGV behind me - he decided to make what's technically called a "dick move". That's why the police sent him a warning letter when I reported him using this video. If you think he did nothing wrong you're a gaping twat. End of.
the most dangerous part here was not passing the bicycle but the approach to the junction at speed, they take some stopping and theres allways one dick who will pull out half asleep whos just set off from home
that was rather naughty on the hgv part,i was a truck driver for a lot of years and that could of been bad but the real criminals here are the firms working the drivers to death 15 hours a day, fatigue is the most major problem with the job, thats why i got out.
why do cyclists insist on driving on the road when there is a cycle lane on the road,if the truck was on the cycle lane there would be uproar, and cyclists never stop at lights or give any legal hand signals !!!!
i bet traffic signals don't apply to you neither, cyclists can be their own worst enemy and put themselves in danger instead of just looking over their shoulder or holdin up a second or two, thankfully due to my skill and vigilance there are a few more cyclists that live another day to carry on being irresponsible self righteous twats.
At the start of that clip, you were directly behind the parked car. You then pulled out to pass it without looking behind you to check if the road was clear, and simply expected the following traffic to stop for you. You were lucky not to be killed, but I'm afraid in this case, that was your fault.
@98SmithSteve If the person behind crashes into you it's their fault. That's according to the Highway Code and (probably more importantly, in today's word) insurance companies... If the person behind honestly thought I was going to just plough straight into the back of a parked car (instead of, gasp, moving out and going around it) then they probably shouldn't be driving any sort of vehicle at all, let alone an HGV.
@JameyCam You're half right. If a vehicle which is following you in the same lane fails to stop and goes into the back of you, then the other driver will pretty much always be at fault. On the other hand, if you change lanes in front of another vehicle, which hits you as a result, then the fault is at least shared.
@JameyCam At the start of this clip, there were effectively two lanes of flowing traffic, you tucked in to the left, and others to the right, as evidenced by the citroen which passed you with plenty of room, within the marked lane. You then moved several feet to the right, effectively merging with another traffic lane, without looking, and just expected the truck to give way to you. Although it isn't visible on the clip, I'd have a tenner on you not giving any signal either.
you could always respect the other traffic and allow for them as you expect them to allow you ,if you pull out without looking its safe to do so,i would say its your fault, another idiot cyclist that think they have a god given right to do whatever they like on the road, you, gaz, pompey biker and others should just stop posting these petty videos and get some sort of a life you repetetive boring petty hitlers
@yamahait1 What, and have y'all seen yamahait's videos? Riding a motorbike like an utter twat. It's the sort of riding that features regularly on police, camera, action.
@JameyCam You should definitely have looked behind you before pulling around those parked cars. However, the lorry driver should never have overtaken there.
@JameyCam Any other vehicle on the road would not pull out in front of someone. You were traveling on the left side and moved into the middle part of the road to pass parked cars. This is a action that needs to be done while making sure there is no other vehicles around you. If you did this on a driving test you may well fail it, if you did this on a motor bike test you would prob fail it again. You cant just move out into the middle of the road without looking.
Also on your point of "if he crashed into the back of me I would take him to the cleaners" yes you are correct if any accident entails another vehicle crashing into the rear of another the vehicle behind is at fault...BUT if that vehicle in front moves directly infront of the car behind without looking then the person behind is not at fault. BTW if he had hit you, you wouldnt be alive to do anything to him let alone "Take him to the cleaners"
@mabaxter1981 I'm guessing you're the driver of the truck (or someone who works for the company it's registered to) and you've just received your letter from the police and decided to dredge up an old YouTube account you hadn't used for ages in order to comment. Hello.
@JameyCam i would love to know have you ever got anyone prosecuted for bad driving. i did not think that the police would be interested, i suppose you are handing it to them on a plate, not a lot of detective work to be done heh!
