  • Its as simple as A B C

A: Tyson is on a path to greatness and despite the death of his surrogate father and mentor Cus D Amato, his trainers and managers continue with the mission at hand.

B: Jim Jacobs, Tyson's second closest confident after Cus passes and the champ is devestated and vulenarable. Don King professional parasite slimes in, poisons Tyson against his old team, convincing him, they're stealing from him.

C: Tyson breaks away from his old team and the ending of his greatness begins

  • John Russel comes off as a real pos in this video.

  • i love the music at 3:37.. whats the song?

  • After watching this it occurred to me that James Douglas actually deserved to win this fight.

  • SURE WE COULD ALL AGREE THAT IF MIKE WAS STILL WITH KEVIN THEN HE WOULD HAVE WON THE FIGHT BECAUSE KEVIN WOULD HAVE KEPT HIM RIGHT--MENTALLY ETC.BUT IT DIDNT TURN OUT THAT WAY. u can tell by his training around the time of the fight that he was not the same.look at the footage with him when he was knocked down in training...waaaay off

  • i grew up in the same hood tyson grew up in BROWNSVILLE...we still love that dude over there

  • alot of great heavyweights beat them selves even Muhammad ali. thats all that happened.

  • Tyson let the fame get to his head after he fired Kevin rooney and let that dumb nigger don king tell him what to do he was shit

  • 4:30 This is why there are no great heavyweight boxers..Jim Lampley was right..

  • Wow - thanks for taking the time to post all of these - they are great!

  • Not only a great upset but the second best fight of the 90's. (Chavez-Taylor the best)

  • Just bc he has a big house doesn't mean he's not in debt... Tyson is not broke but he isn't rich like he is suppose to be bc of bad management of money... he was to stuck on drugs and surrounded by the wrong people...

  • @MrPsychopath83 Broke? you wish. Check out his movie that put out a few years ago and look at his impressive home. Learn the facts before you start talking out of ass. You're a hater and that's why you will never become anything yourself.

  • Buster's mother would of been proud.....

  • John Russel has to be the biggest idiot in the history of boxing for believing that Mike Tyson was well prepared for the fight. However, there are no excuses on the night of the fight. Tyson said so himself. It took me nearly 20 years to admit the result of this fight, because of the love i have for Mike. Today I´ve learned to appreciate Douglas win, andI really have no grudge against his win. He earned it, regardless of the surrounding conditions.

  • Don king would kill his mother for a dollar, thats all you need to know....

  • jim lampley u an me in the ring lets get this shit on u bastard

  • aaron snowell is so full of crap too. He didnt even dream about tyson heading towards a buttwhoppin - yet he is saying he was thinking so and told him so.

Just by looking at how terribly prepared was his corner with snowell incharged, it is obvious they were all expecting tyson to KO him in a couple of minutes, nothing else.

Snowell you are full of shit

  • Seems like when Cus D'amato died, Tyson lost, professionally.

  • @Sledge070685 thats what it was

  • HIEEE GIUU-GIUU.... JODT-JHEEEEEE..... JHEEEEEEEEE!!!

  • Sure Tyson was having difficult times and was clearly struggling with his personal life and training... but take nothing away from Buster Douglas; he fought a great, great fight. He really put in an unbelievable performance and was one of very few fighters that refused to be intimidated by Tyson.

  • Snowell had no business being in the corner...what an asshole.

    LOL

  • Don King ruined Tyson's career. He replaced his corner with a bunch of jerkies...look @ them use a glove filled with cold water to stop the swelling in this match. What a joke.

  • After seeing the Tyson-Tucker fight from a few years prior, I honestly think the writing was on the wall for Mike.

Tucker - tall, good boxer (perhaps not as good as Douglas), worked behind a good jab, knew how to smother Mike's offense...and most importantly, WASN'T AFRAID OF MIKE TYSON.

Tucker won the first four rounds of that fight. Mike was totally stymied. It wasn't until Tucker's hand broke and rendered him a one-handed boxer that he lost that fight. It was the prelim to Douglas.

  • Well in my opinion when Tyson fired his trainer and replaced his team that's how it started. His head was being brainwashed and manipulated by that bastard Don King. It's a shame cuz Tyson had he kept his head straight could have remained undefeated.

  • Fuk u Don KIng!

  • Oh by the way, my girlfriend is white too. White women love us too, and you know what they say about us so-called niggers down south compared to yall. I wont say it. I think I've shut your ass down enough.

  • @michaeljackson1978 they say what ? please tell me i'm curious

  • Really. That shows how ignorant and stupid and racist u are. Don King is a piece of shit and everybody knows it. He ruined Mike Tyson's career and life. So did Givens and Desiree Washington and prison. As far as the word "nigger," anyone can be a nigger. The definition is a person that is uncooth, no manners, no type of class or respect for themselves, it doesnt say "black people." Im black and I grew up in a suburban neighborhood, and so did many other blacks, and i still live in one.

  • The biggest upset in boxing history....

  • Like an overconfident Joe Louis, who got knocked out against Max Schmeling in their first fight, Tyson also grew overconfident, unmotivated, and trained indifferently, a sitting duck for a very motivated and in shape Buster Douglas.

  • who is iron mike laying out with the upward bunce left hook at 58secs into the clip???

  • tYSON IS A GOD

  • douglas looks like he ate tyson after the fight.

  • Don King and Donald Trump ought to form an eccentric harido club.

  • Comment removed

  • doesn't william douglas look like a "beaten" Jack Johnson at 3:42. (using the term "beaten" loosely)

Snowell you are full of sh1t, again.

  • @glutamin111 Yep- you could tell when first watching the fight clear back when it first aired that Snowell had NO idea what the heck he was doing. Tyson's starting to swell in one eye, and suddenly between rounds, I see Snowell with a rubber glove filled with ice(?) holding it to the eye... eh?

  • 8.01 hahahhaha funny cunt

  • This is what is great about youtube, finding really interesting stuff like this.

  • Great stories by the way, many thanks for uploading this!

  • lol and the prime of Lewis was before he lost to McCall, and the prime of Holyfield was before he lost to Bowe. Before those, no one could beat 'em!... Sound stupid right?

It seems some boxers are in their prime till' they lose, then they become shot and get many excuses for the loss.

  • @Koukinaba

u make an excellent point! this is what these fanboys cant understand!

  • lol at lampley, every fight is one of the most memorable fights in 30 years of boxing on hbo haha he says that about every fight he talks about

  • Saga Genesis: Buster Douglas Knockout Boxing !

  • 23 years old, he looks like a 40 year old monster...

  • Tyson is one of the greatest of all time when in his prime.

  • @CtrlRm How Long Was Tyson's Prime Anyway ??? 3 1/2 Years LOL

  • @07liberian 5 years. Please, if Lewis actually fought like Tyson did and didn't fight like a girl, he wouldn't have lasted as long. He was a defensive fighter, Tyson was an all out offensive attacker. Lewis did not dominate his opponents like Tyson, ever, because he couldn't. Look what happened when he fought Rahman.

  • @CtrlRm lol you know jack shit.lewis dominated the fight every time he won,the fight was fought at his pace he ko'd them and barely got hit how is that not dominating? .i like tyson alot but he was an overly aggressive guy who got beaten by 90% of good fighters he faced after rooney, without someone to tell him exactly what to do he had nothing he couldnt think, and by calling anyone who isnt a brawler a pussy shows your stupidity its called 'BOXING' coz your supposed to box and lewis was a master

  • this was James Douglass's time this was just his moment in time & it belonged to no one but him not Tyson Holyfield Whitaker Taylor Chavez Bowe etc. this was Buster Douglass one moment in time

  • @Duecewilliams

    We'll said!

This is a great inspiring story. People love Rocky how can they not love this story. This is real life Buster did this for his mom and was the best boxer in the world for 1 night.

  • I find is interesting how no one talks about Tyson's car wreck before the Douglas fight in which he was knocked unconscious. That's the equivalent of being knocked out cold in a fight. It could well have had an effect on his punch resistance against Douglas. I think physically he was in shape, he looked it and weighed in at a good weight. I think his being out of sorts was more mental than anything else.

  • @bpatrice49

That's because it didn't happen anywhere close to the Douglas fight. It happened in Sept. 1988. After, he beat Frank Bruno and Carl Williams...so obviously, he was just fine against them. The reality is, Douglas kicked his ass. Plain and simple. People can grasp at all the straws they want, but Buster Douglas was the better man that night.

  • @cbaldwinjr Actually he looked awful against Bruno and Carl Williams was a contraversial stoppage. He was fine against them if you only look at the record at Boxer rec but if you watch the fights it looks a bit different. He had fought infrequently and his skills were quickly diminishing.

  • @capablemachine

I saw both fights live and Tyson was fine. Williams didn't want to fight...he looked dazed until it was stopped, then tried to protest. He was able to bitch out of that fight. Bruno landed some shots, but he wasn't an out and out tomato can. Tyson wasn't running through decent fighters. He didn't destroy Tucker, Bruno, Mitch Green, etc. He looked great against scrubs and good against decent fighters of the era. Still doesn't change what I said...Douglas WHOOPED HIS ASS.

  • @cbaldwinjr No he didn't destroy people who wanted to hold and had longer reaches. Bruno was the first fight after Rooney and Tyson was easily dazed in the first round. A lot of people couldn't destroy Tucker, his first TKO loss was 17 years into his professional career. Mitch Green was a counter puncher just trying to survive in the ring. The great fighters of the era he was in he beat the ones you're referring to got started in 89 91 just before Tyson went to jail.

  • After Tyson lost, you could see Don King scurrying to be on the shot with the new champion, instead of hanging with his fighter Mike Tyson.

  • i think this fight is what a prime tyson vs a prime holmes fight would have looked like

  • @cv003799

Finally someone giving Larry some credit! I agree!

  • Buster's corner men were all Nerds with glasses, they probably formulated some algebric formula or brewed him up an energy drink. While Tyson has all the rude boys.

  • weird there's no tyson holyfield legendary nights show

  • @leon30001 It's because the network that carried that fight was Showtime and HBO is responsible for these documentaries. I agree that would be a great one.

  • @Shirashama amazing that showtime had it and not hbo...

  • Tyson was the most intimidating boxer of the 80's and early 90's.

  • it has been sais that if poetry was bullshit then don king would be SHAKESPEARE

    and i agree

  • Don King ruined the careers of many a fighter...Mike Tyson being the first one.

  • tyson is not the greatest but in his prime i think he could beat anyone

  • Honestly I still think this is one of the most underrated upsets not jus in boxing but in sports. If Mike didn't go 2 jail tho I still see him recoverin from this loss and had a good 3-4 more years of dominance.

  • @snkammar2...well if the odds were 1:50 for tyson. then I guess soo...

  • @Gubby007

no 1 even heard of buster douglas lol... & after the holyfield fight no 1 ever heard of him again LoL

  • My respects to Mr. Douglas for having overcome so much and KO´d Tyson... I just pray that he will get in shape.

  • He's doing good in life. Unlike most atheletes he saved his money and takes care of his kids.

  • I already knew all of that. Thanks anyway, boy.

  • yeah and it wasn't either atlas's daughter but his niece and atlas said that he never ever saw tyson again after cus fired him

  • what everyone in the world who WORSHIPS tyson doesn't understand is that at the end of the day a boxing match is just one guy fighting another guy!!! that's it, this guy lost his mother 3 weeks before the fight! kudos

  • Yeah people make excuses for Tyson that he lost Cust well Douglas lost him mom and turned it into motivation

  • a cocky attitude, horrific corner men and lack luster training regime had no chance against a guy that might've had the last chance at a title shot, after getting divorced, finding out his son was diagnosed with leukemia and losing his mother just before the fight. with all those factors, luck ain't have a goddamn thing to do with it.

  • Well said Avery...I think you speak for everyone who knows ANYTHING about this brutal sport.

  • @AvEryBadApPLe

I thought he lost his mother ages ago?

  • @AvEryBadApPLe

Sorry completely misread your comment lol I thought you were talking about tyson soz

  • @AvEryBadApPLe Except for the luck of having all of those factors happening at once. I mean... really?

  • @DWiens421 luck??? what's next, you believe in easter bunny, too? lmfao

  • Lol rite. I felt that after Mike Tyson fired Kevin Rooney, allow negative forces such as Don King and Robin Givens enter into the picture, his career was over.

  • @Humblenation google much? lmfao

  • EVERYBODY has problems to overcome in life, not just Mr Tyson.

  • Mr Tyson's problems mattered.

  • Feel good for Douglas...but bad in the same way for having lost his mom.

  • Don King is a criminal.

  • don king is a scumbag

  • he single handedly destroyed boxing

  • @Bulldog22031 yes he did thats true. but he also changed boxing too.

  • @MrDavaj yeah...for the worse

  • @andreboy1 AND FUCK GIVENS TOO

  • @andreboy1

no he is not. he is great. He is doing a great job dealing with these niggers. He makes us white people feel safe by screwing over the blacks so they dont' have enough money by the end of their careers to move into my white suburban neighborhood. So how how can he be a scumbag?

  • @andreboy1 agreed. one reptilian motherfucker.

  • wow....in that training video...Mike looked completely lost and frustrated. This was just a loss waiting to happen.Larry Holmes EXACTLY predicted Tyson's future and said that sooner or later...Tyson is gonna destroy himself and will be his own downfall.

  • 1:47 my god!

  • Fear Tony Tucker's Mullet

  • Apparently Aaron Snowell knew Tyson was going to be beat.

  • why did tyson fire Rooney?

  • He came on to Rooneys daughter so Rooney pulled a gun on him.

  • no that was teddy atlas who was his assisstant trainer

  • Oh my mistake

  • all good.

but if anyone knows why tyson fired rooney then if you could please tell me.

    thanks

  • He fired Rooney because Don King got him to fire him because he wanted to place people in there that he could control to get at Tyson's money.

  • It's just a black thing.

  • I made a mistake and then acknowledged it. You need to grow up.

  • not to be annoying, but according to other documentaries that was teddie atlas, idk maybe he did it twice, he was very flirtatious with girls, but yea i wonder why he fired him

  • I've read that it was Don King kinda brainwashing him into going with their crew and away from guys like Rooney who kept his head on straight and away from all of the publicity and whatnot that King wanted. After D'Amato died, Tyson was pretty vulnerable (especially cause D'Amato had kept him away from all the bad guys), and Tyson was like a baby being thrown into the jungle.

  • Tony Tucker's haircut is awful

  • c'mon give Douglas credit a had a tear in my eye from his story, even before the fight my heart wanted Douglas to win, and Don King is a dick trying to take Douglas's win away from him

  • What the hell did Douglas do to himself?!?

  • Ha! Yup. If he had Kevin Rooney in his corner this would have never happened. Thank you Don King.

  • aaron ' whats a end swell ' snowell. yeah right u knew he was gonna get beat you mangy dog.
