I honestly can't wait for this game, the only reason that i think his hair would be like this would be due to the fact that he was trying to lay low and hide, all of the half demons like Virgil have white hair which makes them easy to spot, he would dye his hair black and this would explain the white patch around the roots of the hair since he's been locked up :)

I think that Ninja Theory will do a great job, and this game looks amazing, I am a fan of the original DmC's also, but I am still excited for this one, we get to learn a little bit more about Dante! Give the game a chance at least before you hate on it. Plus, the gameplay looks really awesome, and the scenery is really well done.
utterly not impressed, Dante looks absolutely appalling. I've played every devil may cry and would do so over and over again. I got over the Nero thing over the first half of the last one because the 2nd half with Dante was phenomenal. You cant change the things people associate with most, especially look of a character. Its what keeps the gamers around is getting what they want, and so far 418 people want this and 1,184 people dont. do the right thing capcom, give us Dante back!
i Think its a great idea what they did with it, something fresh and new..its kind've like the 2009 Star Trek movie where they were in this parallel universe as well..so its not really the Dante we know...kinda like it wasnt the "real" captain kirk and Spock like the ones in the series :/ , but had a sort of Twist to it lol..n_n i cant wait to play it
What most people don't seem to get is that this game is not a sequel or a prequel, it is a reboot or rather it is set in a parallel world as the developers put it, with a new Dante and a new origin story. I also think that this game and this new Dante look pretty good and that people should stop freaking out about how different it looks because any re-imagining/reboot will and should have differences from the original or there would be no point in it being a reboot.

This isn't really a new generation of Dante; this is an origin story. If you were a teenager and you were just told you were practically the son of satan, some sort of demon spawn freak, you'd probably be a little bit angsty too. As for the white hair, I'm pretty sure it shows the top tuft of his hair to be white, probably hinting that it will grow white over the course of the game. I for one am very interested in how this games story will play out.
@darktochiro I know that in chronological time line the story begins at DMC 3, DMC anime series, DMC 1, DMC 2 (or 2, 1 either) DMC 4, so it doent make sense that Dante looks younger and black hair.
Capcom is fu**ing up whit their games in the last years.
Althought its just a quick preview of the game, I feel it lacks alot of what we're used to in The DMC series, as seen in this, it lack mostly the strategic camera angle shots witch takes alot out of the "Stylish" combat stlye and to be honest, even thought its Dante when he's young, it doesnt "feel" like him, feels more like some aspired teenager with dante-like powers, neverless its still a work in progress (cant comapre it to the new Tomb Raider thought) and we could only hope it wont disapint

After watching this video, my only complaint so far is that they should have featured metal rock in the trailer, since that IS basically what all DMC music has been when Dante & Nero fight--and it's freaking awesome. Also, I hope they do something with the pants since a few times I couldn't distinguish them from his skin tone and thought, WTF, he's got no pants, lol.

in this origins game, he has black hair in his normal form and white hair in his devil trigger. Do you see where i am going? Imagine devil trigger as super saiyan from DBZ. The hair color changes in both instances. In DBZ, goku was able to do SS for long periods of time. Wat if Dante learned to be in his DT as his normal form, and his later DT was actually DT2

Also , we must play the game before we judge on his attitude being right or not. Dante has developed plenty in each game, even when new installments preceded earlier ones, such as his growth in DMC3 into the still fun but much more adult hunter we see in DMC1. For all we know, maybe he starts having some fun in the end when he begins using his demonic powers, and decides he´s crazy enough about demon hunting to open his own paranormal agency.
Interesting, this makes his usual white haired look into his "devil trigger". It is not without some logic, as Dante learnt devil trigger in DMC3, and it makes sense that he is just beginning to accept his devil half in this game, since, again, he doesn´t fully embrace it till DMC3. The only little continuity nitpicking i can think of is that i´m pretty sure we saw Dante with white hair as a kid somewhere, but there have been larger issues during the series, so no biggie.
Not feeling this. Ninja theory games usually have great stories and cinematic qualities but average to terrible gameplay. And DMC is ALL about the gameplay. I'll go into this one with low expectations. Hopefully this will be awesome and prove me wrong...
My only REAL issue with this new dante is that he seems to lacks the attitude, the flair, and (most importantly) the STYLE that made Regular Dante THE GOD OF BADASS AWESOMENESS we all know in love. When ppl try to describe of Dante, four words should come to mind: dangerous, awesome, badass, and STYLISH. While this new version, from what I've seen so far, seems to be dangerous and cool(but not quite "awesome"), he seems dull by comparison. whew! Long comment....

I don't see what the big fuss is. I've played the DMC series from the start when PS2 came out and i have no problem with the redesign. Hell it seems this dante's devil trigger is to look like the old one. Who gives a flying fuck if he looks different or smokes or whatever? @zaknafayne The explanation is: Ninja Theory's art director wants the new Dante to look like him, so he does. Ninja Theory didn't get to make Heavenly Sword 2, because Sony owns the rights and won't let them, so Rebellion now transforms into a scythe and axe. To explain that in the story, they make Dante half angel instead of half human, so the scythe is holy, and the axe unholy. Pretty fail, but that's how it works.
assides from the hair i cant see the twlight connection I mean you never see a squeky clean twilight character smoking a ciggerate then stubbing it on their enemies face. this young dante seems to edgy for that besides the gamplay looks great hope its better than dmc 4 as that wa dissapointing and hope they have virgil involved in this
@awkwardpizza This trailer would've been a whole lot better if they used Dante's moves and combos. Music is also a plus because it sets the tone of the game. This song makes you think you about to go raving instead of fighting demons.

Really, though, as a fan of the series to someone who has yet to try the series, i urge you to go and pick up DMC1 and DMC3 for the PS2 and try them out. (PS2s are dirt cheap, nowadays)
Because a lot of fans feel like they are just trying to cash off in on the tween punkcraze that Twilight and the newer Harry Potter movies started with the new Dante. Plus we only got to play the new Devil May Cry system with Dante for 1 and a half games. There are still loose ends that haven't been concluded as well. A lot of fans are also worried about how the gameplay will come out because thus far the new developer has only developed mediocre games.

Marketing is designed to say nothing but positive things to make sure their product get's taken by the masses. The game, in the end, has to speak for itself, BUT, thus far, with what's been show, what's been confirmed, and what excuses they seem to make, it doesn't look like it will live up to the hype the developers or the PR groups have established.
@pb9882 Well, there is no longer just a 90 second trailer before us, and a fair few of these so called "rumors" are now confirmed (with the exception of whether or not this game is set in it's own universe, or is supposed to tie in with the other DMC games).

So framerate will drop, graphics bland, long loading times, going to be a button masher and a easy ass game. But oh it will be so cool even at five hours! :D Fucking kids these days. To be honest at first when I saw this trailer I was disgusted but after a few weeks I see some potential. But they should change the name of this game and of the main character and completely destroy any ties this has to devil may cry. And capcom if you don't want to continue dante, vergil or nero's story then at least make an anime movie like final fantasy advent children. We deserve at least that.

I started reading devil may cry fan fiction a while ago to fill in the gaps the game makers left out. my theory is that nero is vergil's son with a human woman. but vergil left the woman before he found out she was pregnant and when the woman had the nero and saw his arm she just abandoned him in a church. that's why nero has some sort of blood relation to vergils power and that's why he's demonic energies are blue like vergils :) but that's just one of my ideas

@darktochiro I know that in chronological time line the story begins at DMC 3, DMC anime series, DMC 1, DMC 2 (or 2, 1 either) DMC 4, so it doent make sense that Dante looks younger and black hair.

Althought its just a quick preview of the game, I feel it lacks alot of what we're used to in The DMC series, as seen in this, it lack mostly the strategic camera angle shots witch takes alot out of the "Stylish" combat stlye and to be honest, even thought its Dante when he's young, it doesnt "feel" like him, feels more like some aspired teenager with dante-like powers, neverless its still a work in progress (cant comapre it to the new Tomb Raider thought) and we could only hope it wont disapint

I think it makes sense that, were it an origin story, that Dante could achieve his white hair by first activating his devil blood.
... if it did not appear that he's already doing high-powered stuff here.
Maybe that changing weapon of his is giving him that power while he comes to terms with the devil powers that are awakening inside of him?
So whenever his hair is white, he's like he was before, and when it's black, he's still weak, relying on weapons.

After watching this video, my only complaint so far is that they should have featured metal rock in the trailer, since that IS basically what all DMC music has been when Dante & Nero fight--and it's freaking awesome. Also, I hope they do something with the pants since a few times I couldn't distinguish them from his skin tone and thought, WTF, he's got no pants, lol.

in this origins game, he has black hair in his normal form and white hair in his devil trigger. Do you see where i am going? Imagine devil trigger as super saiyan from DBZ. The hair color changes in both instances. In DBZ, goku was able to do SS for long periods of time. Wat if Dante learned to be in his DT as his normal form, and his later DT was actually DT2

Also , we must play the game before we judge on his attitude being right or not. Dante has developed plenty in each game, even when new installments preceded earlier ones, such as his growth in DMC3 into the still fun but much more adult hunter we see in DMC1. For all we know, maybe he starts having some fun in the end when he begins using his demonic powers, and decides he´s crazy enough about demon hunting to open his own paranormal agency.

Interesting, this makes his usual white haired look into his "devil trigger". It is not without some logic, as Dante learnt devil trigger in DMC3, and it makes sense that he is just beginning to accept his devil half in this game, since, again, he doesn´t fully embrace it till DMC3. The only little continuity nitpicking i can think of is that i´m pretty sure we saw Dante with white hair as a kid somewhere, but there have been larger issues during the series, so no biggie.

My only REAL issue with this new dante is that he seems to lacks the attitude, the flair, and (most importantly) the STYLE that made Regular Dante THE GOD OF BADASS AWESOMENESS we all know in love. When ppl try to describe of Dante, four words should come to mind: dangerous, awesome, badass, and STYLISH. While this new version, from what I've seen so far, seems to be dangerous and cool(but not quite "awesome"), he seems dull by comparison. whew! Long comment....

@zaknafayne The explanation is: Ninja Theory's art director wants the new Dante to look like him, so he does. Ninja Theory didn't get to make Heavenly Sword 2, because Sony owns the rights and won't let them, so Rebellion now transforms into a scythe and axe. To explain that in the story, they make Dante half angel instead of half human, so the scythe is holy, and the axe unholy. Pretty fail, but that's how it works.

Because a lot of fans feel like they are just trying to cash off in on the tween punkcraze that Twilight and the newer Harry Potter movies started with the new Dante. Plus we only got to play the new Devil May Cry system with Dante for 1 and a half games. There are still loose ends that haven't been concluded as well. A lot of fans are also worried about how the gameplay will come out because thus far the new developer has only developed mediocre games.

Marketing is designed to say nothing but positive things to make sure their product get's taken by the masses. The game, in the end, has to speak for itself, BUT, thus far, with what's been show, what's been confirmed, and what excuses they seem to make, it doesn't look like it will live up to the hype the developers or the PR groups have established.

@pb9882 Well, there is no longer just a 90 second trailer before us, and a fair few of these so called "rumors" are now confirmed (with the exception of whether or not this game is set in it's own universe, or is supposed to tie in with the other DMC games).

So framerate will drop, graphics bland, long loading times, going to be a button masher and a easy ass game. But oh it will be so cool even at five hours! :D Fucking kids these days. @beautifulpassion Oh I will apologize for the guy part I meant to say person. Now I will admit the game may not be terrible but I will say its not close to being a Devil May Cry game. I will also admit that I don't know the whole story but I know judging from the interviews thats they are changing everything, this Dante will be angry sadist, and they are using punk references in the 70's. I also know the draw backs of the UE3 engine which is by far a poor engine choice for a hack n slash.

you know this wouldn't be so bad if the producer of the game hadn't modled Dante after himself. you do NOT take one of the coolest video game characters ever and turn him into yourself just to fulfill some weird fantasy of yours.

To be honest at first when I saw this trailer I was disgusted but after a few weeks I see some potential. But they should change the name of this game and of the main character and completely destroy any ties this has to devil may cry. And capcom if you don't want to continue dante, vergil or nero's story then at least make an anime movie like final fantasy advent children. We deserve at least that.

@A1KH0J3 but this is the same dante dude this is just an organ of the story because we all know devil may cry 2 is the last chapter in the story they just didn't know what to do with it like how many times can we make prequels.
Anyway this is a game that supposed to be a rebirth of how he became the person we know of him

@darkheart407 i'm aware of that but i just think they first need to shed more light on the questions they left us with at the end of dmc4 and dmc. by now capcom and ninja theory should know that the fan of dmc don't want another origin story and that we want our questions answered. i don't know how long you've been following dmc but if you have been through the other games i think you can understand my point. either way that terrible but we deserve more

@A1KH0J3 oh of course I feel you there things I wanna more about his father like they should do an organ about how he saved the human world closing the portal for his love and and 2 sons. Other is vergil like remember when dante said its been a year since we last met like what was he doing sure there a manga about it
but I much rather wanted to see at least movie or games about it lol Other thing that bugs me is nero like there still questions about him having sparda blood in him so its a mess

@darkheart407 I KNOW RIGHT!!!! I started reading devil may cry fan fiction a while ago to fill in the gaps the game makers left out. my theory is that nero is vergil's son with a human woman. but vergil left the woman before he found out she was pregnant and when the woman had the nero and saw his arm she just abandoned him in a church. that's why nero has some sort of blood relation to vergils power and that's why he's demonic energies are blue like vergils :) but that's just one of my ideas

But since DmC trailers came out alot of comments like the guys comment that you're defending do it for thumbs ups which most people call them thumbwhores. Now I seen it more than once so if that is not the case I will gladly apologize. Yep I replied in a kind way so does that make me an asshole? lol
