it does seem cruel but that set up is alot larger than alot of major zoo's pinniped facilities (the ones for holding show seals/sea lions that can't be seen).

You are so naiv.The sealions are not "kept" in the tank,they are circus performers and work twice a day,they have a extra pool inside a trailor.Dont think they are "kept" in that tank all the time,its not true!
Yeah, the only way to stop cruelty to animals is to avoid circus where animals are kept...and we hope for stronger laws that prohibit keeping these kind of animals! And perhaps these animals one day have a better and happier life in an other place or animal reservations!!!!
The tank is far too small for that many sea lions. Additionally, they don't have enrichment, such as rocks, kelp, or toys, to keep them occupied. They don't have a shade awning incase it gets hot out - and the tank is very shallow. Sea lions are large, intelligent, social animals that require vast amounts of care. They cannot be kept in a tiny tub like this...
If you were to put any natural things in that pool it would just make more free swimming area full. A whole new pool would be a lot better. SeaWorld's habitat for their sealions is 100 times better. And this looks like a traveling circus, so at least they don't spend all hours of the day in that tiny pool.
None-the-less, if they had enrichment, such as rocks, toys, etc, they would be mentally stimulated and thus more active/healthy. These animals are kept in tiny, unnatural cages and tanks and on the road for many days at a time. It's stressful and I would call it "cruel." Sea lions are such intelligent, social beings --- they don't deserve this pathetic treatment.

Plus, they don't even have any land to haul out on - they just have a tiny metal cage on wheels to sit in... they probably don't even all fit in it!

That is so wrong! The best way to stop animals from being kept in these kind of conditions is by not visiting a circus that has 'performing' animals.
