  • HOLY COW... worst video ever made on how to fix anything ever...

  • i dont know whats more broken, your laptop or your english...waving your figer around for over 3 minutes is a joke..you havent shown that youve done anything...you watched mixcacoms video and made your own video with their ideas..when you said "heat the whole main board???...no its only the video card..if your going to do something,do it right, not half ass.

  • lol omg this is horrible shit im not a tech and i could give a better tutorial

  • does not work

  • people, he's talking about a reflow, lol. @nividia581, no offense, but before you tell people how to fix this problem, stop saying "pull it apart", etc.

  • yes, i did the same thing with my laptop hp and worked. thks.

  • "Put it apart" REALLY???? What an idiot!

  • Just want to say it's not a myth or voodoo magic. There are Youtube videos showing the disassembly and some showing the heat gun technique. I did it using the heat gun on low for 4 min, then on high for 1 min (because nothing was melting so why not?) then tuned the board over and did 4 min on the back of the gpu. Double layer aluminum foil protecting all but the gpu. Take lots of images during disassembly. Replace the gpu foam pad spacer with a copper shim or the gpu will cont to overheat.

  • omg lol you'll get better results if u do a step by step tutorial instead of saying and wiggling your fingers

  • TIM THE TOOL MAN

  • thats the old one they had recalls on the cause the heat sink went from the cpu over the graphics card then out to cooling i have the newer one and i pulled it apart and they seperated them and put the duo core cpu in it

  • this method by heating the video chip for 0-2 seconds is riski, but it worked for mein a dv 7000 hp. cover it wit aluminum just uncover the chip. after heating it dont move it for 15 minuts.

  • I have a dv 6000 i watched a few of these videos and thought well what the heck and what have i got to lose ,i pre heated the oven to 230 degrees place my motherboard in there for 9 mins let it cool place it back oin the casing connected the screen and guess what it worked.

  • This is a misleading title, and this didnt help me and probably no one else.

  • I'm not sure if it's worth replacing the single chip. I'm quite computer savvy, but I would rather just buy a new motherboard than to try and re-seat the same (or new) chip. I suppose that, eventually, I'll get to that point ... but not yet. BTW, my issue is with an HP Pavilion dv7-1135nr notebook and everyone is correct that HP refuses to acknowledge that this is a wide spread issue with the all AMD dv# series notebooks.

  • I KNEW there was something wrong with my Video card! But I'm not going to fix it myself, I'll kill my PC...

  • OK i have two problems with my dv6000, 1. no audio output device, 2. black screen rest of the laptop works. Now is this a easy fix or no? I heard this problem has to do with some kind of inverter but i have no clue plus laptop isn't really it was my brother whom passed awy so if my parents find out my ass is grass lol. pls help a brother out i'll do whatever it takes to fix this problem. I just hope the parts aren't very expensive to purchase. email me kevin_nieto2007@yahoo. com to help me.

  • Srry what happens to mine is its a hp pavillion dv6 and it turns on fine, all lights are on, hp logo comes up and I can get to startup menu but then after that it goes black but it still has light. I can still open the disk drive but clearly CDs don't work. I'm really pissed off about it cos there's stuff on there I don't want to lose. I have tried holding the on button for 60 sec with no power and that didn't work so if anyone has any ideas it would be great if you could help!

  • @gmanindy1997 I dont know how to help but go to amazon and buy an external hard drive port... you plug your hard drive into it and the usb cable into another computer and pull your stuff off... at least you would have your things

  • What happens to mine is it's an hp pavilion dv6 and I can turn it on fine everythings normal. Hp logo comes up I can get to startup

  • what a clown

  • I have dv9000 and my screen ain't black but it's still the worst computer I've had.

  • my hp latop have a black scrren but its differnt.

when i turn my laptop on it goes straight to a black screen with a blinking line at the top left corner, and it just stays there forever. any one knows how to fix it?

    please help

  • @911noobster

Yes, you just have to format your hard drive! and not just erase your files, but everything! You have to do that with a program called 'fdisk'. burn this on cd, put your cd in the laptop, set up in bios cd writer as first boot, then let it boot. just follow and format. when it is formatted, it will say that the system disk is invalid, just put in a windows 98 startup disk, boot it, let it do, after that, just install windows, and everything should work again.

  • @DJOEFn where can i get fdisk?

  • stupid fuck lmao

  • I found out how to fix the screen...go to my page, type in cazooooooo in the search, and look for my video, you will thank me....no unscrew because your just screwing yourself...no heating up video chips, your just gonna burn your system PLEASE FOLLOW MY SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS....WILL WORK 100%

  • they is another way to do this al you have to do is block the fan vent in the laptop for about 20 min 4 the graphic card 2 get get the soldier on the mainboard works good but it is not long lasting the name of it is reflow

  • mypcmobile(dot)com/mypcmobile/blog/

  • fuck you moron

  • payaso.....

  • LoL sooo... you want them to turn on a heat gun and use it on the "main board" for 10-15 minutes... and next he is going to make a video telling everyone if their laptop is slowing down all you need to do is take out the hard drive and stir fry it with carrots and teriyaki chicken.... computer wont power on? easy fix hook jumper cables from your cars battery to your processor... gray lines in your screen? drop your laptop in the bubble bath and then go download more RAM...

  • @yunggawd wow nice comment bro i was laughing for about 10-15 minutes... seriously... =]

  • this shit really works thank you nividia581.................thanks

  • /watch?v=bnkQNmKauEc&feature=related this guys is showing you how to

  • right after he said "put it apart" i stopped watching

  • @RobAndTot the guy is trying to help but you are 100000000000000% right man

  • @RobAndTot lolol... that's funny but he said pull it apart, obviously he has an accent... Funny though...

  • i am going to show a car on street and tell u on how they made it. u maybe never seen a pc opened

  • not worth the effort you can't guarantee its going to last just sounds like a temp solotuon.

  • the issue is the gpu gets so hot, all the expanding and contracting of the soldered pins to the board begin to disconnect. Heating it up will re-melt the solder and they will reattach to the pins on the gpu.

  • @jeffokada81

    It is not correct!

The issue is on the VGA chip and NOT between on the motherboard and the VGA chip .The definitive solution the VGA chip(if have southbridge too)change!!!

I am a notebook serviceman so I know the truth.

    Bye!

  • this guy is retarded

  • Get a He-Gun!

  • Can I use a blow torch if i don't have a heat gun?

  • I gues this guy doesn't know what BGA rework is...

  • It's been a year since this was posted - does the computer it still work now? Those who fixed their computer using this method (or others similar found on youtube) does it last?

  • @rowee270 Of course not, but you never hear anyone about that!

Only replacing the chip with a new one will fix the real problem, but no one does that because they don't know what the hell they are doing. I replace 20+ chips a week, doing it the right way :)

  • @DukeFawks so you get 60 dv9000s every week with the same problem?

  • @slinkydonkey

Actually 70% of the motherboard repairs are Nvidia failures at the moment. At around 40 machines a week you can figure it out :)

  • @DukeFawks wow you must be taking on pc world over there shame ive never heard of your company or you...

  • @DukeFawks

    I accept with you.

  • @duracell7777

Hey, yes, it sounds stupid, but I tried the one with covering mine up with a blanket or coat for about an hour, cooling for 15 min and it turned on! Problem is that it is not a permanent fix. It no longer works for me, but my piece of crap is useless now, so I may as well try this!

  • @pls1024

Well..that was stupid.Try what? This guy doesn`t show anything.Try search again for a solution or go to a service.

  • Try a copper shim to lower your gpu temps 15%. Only $5 and includes thermal paste. Search for "DV6000 Copper Shim" on ebay. Works with any HP TX1xxx/DVxxxx model or Compaq Vxxxx/Fxx models.

  • bullshit man you are noob and go to scooooooolllll

  • Copper shims can be very damaging to GPUs. Modern GPUs have no thermal interface material to protect them from being crushed by a shim.

I'm sure that chips2381 means well. I really do. But I can't agree that a shim is an appropriate solution for this issue.

To learn more, please see the Q & A located at PrecisionDivision . com

Listen, shims are great for other things - southbridges, desktops - there's plenty of reason to buy shims - but this isn't one of them.

  • GEEZ dude!no doubt ur a total idiot BUT i love that headset

  • If you live in Manchester UK and you have the Nvida chip problem get a quote from me.

  • Wouldn't it make more sense to type this onto a blog, instead of posting a video of nothing, full of mumbling?

  • @duracell7777 same here, ive been trying to fix it but NOTHING works. ive tried so many things and watched so many videos but none of them help at all

  • FUCK U

  • Dude ur not showing anything to anyone, for all this video shows u never even opened ur laptop... -__-

  • Not a permanent fix. with the heat gun the temp of the cpu will not be the same throughout. You dont know if your hitting the ideal temp of 120 degrees and if your not your just repairing it temporally. You also risk damaging other components with the heat gun. The solder balls underneath will only be liquid on the outside but be cracked on the inside which will eventually work its way through the whole solder ball again.

  • Try my copper shim to lower gpu temps in hp dv series laptop 15%. Only $5 and comes with thermal paste free. Search for "dv6000 copper shim" on ebay.

  • i agree this guys video says HOW TO not TELL YOU HOW I DID IT....fuckin waste of time

  • Hmm....

I humped mine and it started to wine for a bit but then it worked again... :B

    TTHHHAANKSSS

  • This is easily fixed by turning the laptop on and then quickly shutting the lid and then waiting for vista or 7 to start up. This will work but you will need to do it everytime you turn the computer on.

  • @n33dallhelp This works!!!!!!!!!!

  • @n33dallhelp Quickly shutting the lid? What is lid?

  • @n33dallhelp THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! IT WORKED!!! MARRY ME!

  • @bradskaallama haha ;)

  • @n33dallhelp thank you so much, you save my life (hahaha) I really appreciated that you share the solution with us, thank you very much!!!

  • I do have hp mine is windows 7 and never had any problem

  • i got the same computer AND headphones

  • DV2500 , aka DV2000 AKA DV2845SE

An extended warranty was put is place for some models , although my DV2500 was not on the very limited list . , it is the same issue . HP are trying to cop out . there are thousands of users that are unhappy as all have the same issue , bad design .

    my serial number is 2ce8124453

    DV2845se .

    no boot no post .

any ideas , hp support bouncers said your not on the list .

  • He has the right idea, just sucks at explaining it. Some will not work though, on rare occasion the chip itself fails. Most will come around with a hot air reflow but really it's best left up to someone that is familiar with hot air reflow or you can seriously damage the board. To tear down go to HP.com and put in your model in the support search box, look for manuals and service manual will be there for download to help in teardown.

  • Yes, and if I can replace it myself I will save $300.00. How do I go about relacing this on a hp Pavilion 9100?

  • stupid....

  • Try my copper shim to lower you gpu temp and keep the no video problem away. Only $6 and comes with thermal paste free. Search for "dv6000 copper shim" on ebay.

  • "pretty much is not anyting to really know about, just take all the stuff, all the screws and all that, get the main board heat it up for about 15-20mins (seriously?? are you crazy?) around the video chip which should say nuh-vidia, make sure you put foil around the plastic places cuz it will melt, if you have comments you would like to like, would like to leave" lmao.

If anyone HONESTLY needs help..search the "mixcatcom" channel.Thats what this kid watched and is trying to pass off as his work

  • lmao, "rye next to see pee you is da nuh-vidia chip" its (en-vid-ee-uh) lmao "its gonna be rye around here (makes circle gestures with his finger) lmao. Please Please...dont post anymore videos..your killing us. If you think your helping anyone, your not. Your incapable of doing such a thing. Your not smart. So stop fooling yourself.

"uh, see if uh..it turns on and uh, as you can see mine worked, annnd...there it go" lmao.

  • i call BULLSHIT, you didnt do shit to your laptop, i bet nothing was even wrong with your laptop. you came across mixcats DIY video on how to resolder the BGA Video chip and you record yourself talking? you sound dumber than a rotten apple. your not convincing anyone that your capable of spelling your name lmao. poor guy. trying to feel important and smart off of someone elses accomplishment.

  • 10-15 min. on 700 degrees, is probably hot, but make sure you touch it to make sure it is hot!.....

  • It's not so much hp's fault. It's more the nvidia graphics chipset. Nvidia has been known to produce mobile graphics chipsets that are very vulnerable to overheating issues. But its hp's fault for also not providing adequate cooling for the said mobile gpus. In another clip I saw that HP made it so that the gpu and cpu shared one copper heatsink. A very stupid way to cut back on costs!

    Ebay item number: 260595095107

  • unless you really know what your doing I highly recommend that you do not do this... Just send it back to HP because if you don't know what you're doing and break something then you are screwed because this voids the warranty

  • i have this computer but the screen is broken is possible to change it??

  • Try my copper shim to greatly lower your gpu temps. Only $6 and comes with free thermal paste. Search for "dv6000 copper shim" on ebay.

  • hp stands for horse poop

  • LOL its funny how everyone sais he sucks, but in the end he's right, thats what the problem is and he's not the only one telling people this. good vid

  • u should honestly commit suicide, like that is the most useless garbage on youtube, i only watched a minute of it too

  • Again, like I said sue HP. I got a few emails about this is my first time ever suing someone - it was the same for me. I sued HP, and that was my first time. Shit I was only 18. (Now I'm 19, but whatever.)

  • ????????????????? WTF are you talking about, LMFAO, heat up the motherboard with a heat gun?????? the black screen is do to overheating and you want to apply more heat.........

  • @noriushavok

i have this laptop all you do is take out the battery. lol

  • yah man just heat up the motherboard and you definitely wont fry everything in the laptop. and feel of its hot with ur finger. molten solder. nice 1 numb-nuts. im surprised you could turn it on at all.

  • yeah kill your self

  • Shitty video but that's not the point I have one of these and my screen has done this before and I just left it alone for awhile and then it worked but just recently my screen has been turning everything that is on the screen green if u put it at a wrong angle I think it's just the hinges

  • it works, one try only!

  • oh yes, it works for me, one shot only!

  • touch it to see how hot it is? what a fucking dumb ass, yeah "if its pretty hot stop doing what your doing" and then get to the hospital with 1st degree burns. The human race amazes me sometimes, its inevitable thats someone like this guy will one day accidentally blow up the planet,

  • I thought it's "NVIDIA" not "NIVIDIA"...

  • Dude.WTF.R u on crack

  • why don't you show avideo where you actually show how to do the job?? because thsi doesn;t help at all dude

  • WTF are you talking about?

  • this is the stupidest video ever , this guy doesnt even know what he did ..

  • why don't you show avideo where you actually show how to do the job or do something ?? because thsi doesn;t help at all dude

  • I sued HP and got back more than I paid for hte laptop. I only paid $15 to serve them with papers, and 3 weeks later they called me offering to settle.

If \you want to... just send me a message. I will give u info/help on suing HP.

  • @sushiserv it'll be great if you could give me a hand with suing them! But the thing is that I had a one year warranty and I have had this computer for over two years.

  • Every computer brand is crap, search on Dell, Gateway, Apple, Lenovo, Micron and you'll find someone with a problem with one of those brands too. The biggest problem is with Nvidia and their overheating Video chips. I'll take ATI over Nvidia every time.

  • my 2 years old laptop stop working. never buy hp again.

  • Actually he was in the right ball park for mine I did essentially the same as this guy and it now works, I did not heat for 15mins but I used cooking foil with a hole cut out for the video chip and layed it over the board to protect the rest of the components and heated it with a heat gun for about 3 mins until the solder melted.

  • make it melt?

  • My screen broke. CRAZZY !

  • i'm trippin cuz all these expensive hp laptops & my 500.00 g60 is better probably must ..lol

  • your a fucking moron for posting this. You explained nothing visually, you pointed at your fucking keyboard, go die.

  • in other words solder the graphic card back into place

  • i have same problem but still dont work

  • until it melts?

  • This guy is an ID10T!!!!

  • @InnotechComputing

this guy sounds like an HP call center/customer service agent...

  • @InnotechComputing

Yes, and crasy.. You need to atatch like 200 celsius to get it right done.

Other wise his dameging his computer.

  • I find it very interesting that no one is mentioning the fact that in such cases, the solution to such issues is NOT necessarily the mother board, but the LCD INVERTER!!!!

  • @InnotechComputing how can you tell if it is the " LCD INVERTER" ? the problem I have got with my dv9000 is a black screen when start-up and the only way to get my laptop to start-up is to disable my nVidia 8600m gs driver, then it starts-up fine in using VgaSave driver at 1440 by 900 pix in highest 932 b it) but shit!

Please does anyone know what it could be wrong with it???

    thanks

  • @MarcADenham simple your video chip needs reflowing check on ebay does it for £55

  • Considering that excessive heat kills computer components I cannot believe this worked. You are lucky you didn't melt something and really screw up your laptop.

  • I have thea solution !

After I tried many things to solve this problem I finally know how to solve it.

    There are 2 options :

    1. (BEST SOLUTION) Hold "fn" button and press "F4" key/button. (Fn + F4) -Let the PC power up and wait few seconds until the windows comes up, ( Wait tell the windows is logged in - in case of one user just wait 60 seconds ). -Press fn with F4 keys on the keyboard and the Screen will show up !! Done !

  • 2. REMOVE BATTERY -Shutdown the PC, by holding the power button for 10 seconds. -Then remove the battery and replace it back. -Turn on the PC and now the screen will show up.

  • That doesnt work i've tried it a million times.

  • The issue with the DV2000, DV6000, DV9000, TX1000, F500, F700 laptops happens to be both your fan, video memory, and video card.

If you do not update these files, you will need to have a BGA reflow service to fix your chipsets to restore your wireless and video. What will happen is you will get no video, all blue lights, and the system will cycle on and off every 1 to 2 minutes.

Check Doubleclickittofixit on Google to fix it.

  • did you heat the back side of the board or the front side of the board or did you do both

  • i had my board changed. any advice on how to take care of it?

  • @cucumber810 If it was fixed by hp then chances are they put in the same defective parts and its gonna fail again sooner or later. I would recommend you buy a chill mat. The things you put under it and have fans. Also you could make the internal fans run at all times. You could also underclock it to prevent it from overheating.

  • actually.. the board was just ordered in an hp service center, they guaranteed it new and i didnt send it to hp, just a manual change of board, by another technician, they bring the board here, and we fix it, not them, so, cooling pads are a big help? wish it could last for 2 yrs, im not that heavy user, even with lots of care, will it die?

  • and how will i set the fan in forever mode?

  • the internal ones

  • just had my board changed, pls tell me how to take care of it

  • I've heard of this before. The HP dv6000 and dv9000 laptops are renowned for it.

Have contacted HP but they told me to.......off (let's just say that they didn't care).

Will try it tomorrow and report back.

If it works (as I suspect it will), you're a hero. I guess the reason you're not working for a major Company is that you're worth more than minimum wage, but that's all the cretins will offer.

Hope you get where your going, realise what you're worth and have some along the way, to boot!

  • it railly works

  • The issue with the DV9000 laptops happens to be both your fan, video memory, and video card.

If you update your BIOS that will help with the overheating, and update your video card drivers directly from Nvidia for the GO6150 series.

If you do not update these files, you will need to have a BGA reflow service to fix your chipsets to restore your wireless and video.

Check doubleclickittofixit com for tips to fix them

  • Comment removed

  • thank u this worked 4 me but i used a hair dryer so yes it does work with a hair dryer

  • I have that modell too. It gets black screen sometimes when it boot up. It uses to disappear when I taps fn+f4, so it could be that it has locked it's self on an option from projector "One display only". If not it may be fixed with disc defragmentation.

  • HP is crap

  • Hay How do you know if hp is crap i have a hp Laptop and i never had any problem with it if you think hp is try installing windows 7 works great on hp laptop Because mine runs on windows 7 and it work's great So i say shutup and stop complaning about hp laptop!

  • @Chickenbandana Hate to argue but HP -IS- crap.

  • Can we use Hair Dryer?

  • scribd (dot) com/nb812

  • i cover mine with clothes or something else for a while and its starts working :) Mine has the 3time beeps problem with the display

  • wait wait wait!!! what do u do?

  • wrap it up with blanket or something else while the laptop is running with open lid, cover just the keyboard and cover all the places from where air can circulate, wait for a while and when the area near the power button is hot ,turn it off and then on,if nothing happens then do it again,if it heats to much it should power off it self

  • For anyone interested, this week (Feb 2, 2010) Harbor Freight has 50% off Heat Guns - $10, and non-contact IR thermometers, regular $59, now $29. I bought both and ordered copper shims from ebay to do it again if (when) it quits. So far the penny with Arctic Silver is working and I used no heat. Maybe using heat will give me back WiFi, looking forward to trying it - meanwhile I'm practicing on trashed boards to find right heat settings.

  • hey i did what u said do u have to use a heat gun?

or can u use a hair dryer?

i use the hair dryer and the fan started to turn on but the screen dident

  • Almost forgot to mention the use for the penny. Sorry, but I am writing this on very few hours of sleep. The use of the penny is to act as a shim between the nvidia chip, and heat sink to add 1 mm more down pressure on the chip. The reason, your Hp went back to black screen of death is probably because it was either not reflowed properly perhaps, or it just raised off the board again due to heat expansion with what I believe to be design flaw of the heat sink from hp. Tell us what happens. G.L

  • I did a 60 sec wide circular motion heat bath on the bottom of the board around the nvidia chip at low, and then did a wide circular motion heat bath on top of the board around the chip at low for 120 sec, then finally did a concentrated small circular heat bath directly around the edges of the chip for 180 sec with the first 20 secs on high, and then the last 160 sec on low. I didn't touch the board for thirty minutes. I hope some of this information might be helpful. Good luck.

  • After you get a real nice pre 1982 penny all nice and shiny. Make sure you clean all your previous thermal paste off the cpu, and nvidia gpu. Use rubbing alcohol 60% or better with q-tips, and clean the old thermal paste of the heat sink too. The heat guns out there vary in output temperature. I used one that operated 636F on low, and 1000F on high. Look up your model of heat gun, and see what it puts out if you don't know. I didn't heat mine for ten minutes. I heated it for 5 in three stages.
