  • nice i have an uncle who did similar same gen as your ranger he didnt go with as big of a motor just a 351w. he looks all beat up to hell has a nice little trick on it, he has a splitter on his exhaust so that at the flip of a switch it goes from whisper quite stock sounding to pipes coming right under the rocker panels that are enough to blow some ear drums its so funny when he pulls up to ricers with fart cans revving and he just flips the switch right as he guns it leaves them miles behind

  • Dude, Not saying your lying or anything but it's kinda hard to believe you have a 429 big block under the hood. That motor is wider than my 390. You would be all into the brake booster and the steering rod. You may be telling the truth but i think you might be pulling our leg just a little. I like the truck but i smell BS.

  • Did you have the 4.10s? see my problem is that i had 3.73s in the factory 7.5" diff. i have the little bitty 3.0 so i had to floor it wherever it went. i was too cheap to regear and now im gonna end up paying almost double what it would have cost me in the first place

  • I had 33's on mine and rallied them... never broke a thing, it shouldn't break if the tires break loose.

  • they had to of been shot to begin with cuz mine have had 33's on it since 97' and aint broke once.

  • yea it probably lived a hard life. the previous owner said he had to have the engine rebuilt so that sent up a red flag. from what i understand the 3.0 is the hardest ford engine to kill. but do you have the 3.73 gears and a 3.0? if so is it a dog? mine was a slug. im going to 4.10s as soon as i pay off a couple debts

  • i have vids of my ranger on my account if u wanna check it out. yes i have 3.73 gears and mine is a 2.9l with a 5 speed. with the 33's and the 2.9 and 3.73 gears i get about 19 or 20 mpg and thats drivin about 50mph everywhere i go(most my drivin is backroads) honestly the way my truck is set up itsperfect for a daily driver that handles its own dern well off road.

  • It's been a while since i messed with fast Ford's but i think there were 3 different 429's excluding the mighty Boss 429. The normal 429 (called a thunder jet ) for big cars,the 429 Cobra Jet with a larger cam and more carb.Then there's the 429 Super Cobra Jet. This is the motor that was built to be raced with the stronger bottom end,great flowing heads, better oiling,much larger cam,better intake and larger carb. I think they also had factory headers but i'm not sure.

  • That's no 5.0. It's a 429 (7.0 LITER). Still, 5.0's are great engines.
