Eric Marienthal, Stefano di Battista, Kenny Garrett, they all predecessors Parker! And it is not news that they are playing. Because they once plowed!

@nyuknyuknyuk101 coz it's a hell lot easier to listen to for many, those that like this, listen to it, those that like CJ listen to that. He makes more albums sales becaause he does. Which of course is NOT the main thing, but it does make life easier.

his finger technique is outstanding. keeps them curled and on the pearls at all time. it's like they're barely moving. what i would give to have that kind of control.
@cantcatchthejoker I had scholarships to berklee and was refused to the school, apparently scholarship and admissions were a different process... and the director of admissions did not like me
To me, I think its crazy to see how much Marienthal's have grown since his first encounters with the Elictrick Band in the late 80s or early 90s. Then watch him do this. My favorite sax player hands down. You cant beat his personality!
Ok... long time ago, I was kinda....eh about Eric, because I thought he only played smooth, but seeing that he plays like every kind of music has changed my perception of him.
I saw these guys at Cambridge university England, They were awesome...I got to spend some time with them after shooting the shit about jazz with eric and dave weckel...Great jazz musicians..
highly recommend erics book to sax players in particular but anyone interested in jazz would benefit IMO.

He's so good because when he got kicked out of college, he waited tables at night and practiced 7 hours during the day, every day.

I love how Marienthal is able to adapt so well to what kind of music he is playing. Everything he plays is great. I think his sax is magic.

apologies to montreauxs, that previous comment was supposed to be a response to someone else's comment, but showed up at the top of the list.

He always has these melodic overtones, even when he plays advanced stuff like this. Electric Band without him wouldn't be the same.

The most amazing yet underappreciated horn player! He's a walking tribute to the founders and an amazing inspiration to modern players.

That's "Got A Match?" one of Chick's best tune. The way the rythm evolves (starting at 0:50 ) is ABSOLUTELY CRAZY ! Those guys are legends !
