Let me start by saying I love european cars and not a fan of american cars, however give credit where credit is due! The "magnetically charged suspension system" was invented and patented by Cadillac engineers and used universally in all supercars but no european reviews ever mention that.

Actually someone in South Africa does own one I have seen it. Its a white one with similar Decals. Had the 599 GTO badge on it. But more Importantly. Judging by the way he drives it it would seem just to call it a Proper Ferrari.. But my opinion. I'd still steer off the Road, Pull into a Lamborghini Dealership and buy a Superleggera or an SV. Love how the car tries to snatch the wheel out of his hand every time he pulls the shifter. Also want to see this on a track versus a zr1 corvette with the chevrolet magnetic ride suspension. And before you guys ridicule me for that comment think about it. Both are around 650 hp, both have magnetic ride suspension and both are the ultimate road legal version of their respective brand's top cars. I'm sure the GTO would spank the ZR1 but still would be an awesome showdown.

for all those whining about this car not deserving the GTO badge, u need to remember that although it wasn't built for racing, the older GTOs where "ROAD RACERS". this means that if such a competition existed today, then the 599 gto would probably be eligible to enter. It is also the fastest ferrari ever. The value of the older gtos is mainly brought about by their rarity....this GTO would probably gain such status in the next 50 years.

The 599GTO is just a faster version of the normal 599, which ain't very fast (relatively of cause) and is not at all a racing car. It is not a rule breaker, it is not smashing any records. The F40 deserved a name like that, this don't. This car is only called GTO to jack up the price, and sell more of them.

Love this car!! only thing I question that Jason said; is whether it will reach the collector status of the 1st iteration GTO's - those cars had race pedigree -- shame Le Mans dissolved GT1 category Ferrari needed to race the FXX or 599GTO as a GT1 car (imo) & win some trophy races.. Comparing LFA to a 599 GTO, you are a mor*n! LFA is full luxury while being a track car. 599 GTO is a stripped down to the welds track car with everything stripped out.

LFA also is $125,000 cheaper than the 599 GTO so comparing them is completely moronic! LFA beat the comparable 599 GTB HGTE with $30,000 handling package in CarAndDriver magazine comparo. It was faster both in a straight line and around the race track and also 400 pounds lighter while carrying more luxury.

I want to point out however that most reviews seemed to agree that the LFA carries an unexpected price tag while they all agreed that the GTO offers good value for its price. Also remember that tax and duties differ from place to place, if you came over to europe you'll find the LFA is not exactly 125K cheaper than the GTO.

And maybe the top speed, braking and cornering wise this would blow the doors off the lambo, in a straight line you aren't gonna have a big gap. In the corners it is a horrible mismatch, I love the sv for being the lunatic traditional lambo is, but other than the 0-60 time it really has nothing else on the gto.
