You make some great points, I think the Colts will be the best next year if Peyton Manning is the qb, with trading the pick they can get some help in the defensive backfield and a back to keep pressure off Peyton from the pick. btw their d isn't really that bad, the team was built around the fact that Manning is the quarterback which = lots of points, so the colts invested in smaller pass rushers and dbs to stop the pass because opponents would have to throw to keep up with the colts offense
The colts oust manning save almost 30 million start with andrew luck and use the money saved to recruit new talent peyton old news and with that serious neck injury ,one big hit and its over again for manning ,i mean dont get me wrong manning is good but its to risky plus he done had is time to shine
u can't build a team on draft pick unless u have been bad for 10 plus years like the lions, if u want a change right now u have to do by trading for young proven players and veterans and changing the personnel, but the colts will never be this bad again so u have to take luck, and if they r this bad again there will be a 1 in a 100,000,000 chance it will be in the same year that there is the greatest QB prospect in 10 years, and plus it will bring in revenue so we can afford better players.
i didn't say u could get all that from manning, although u could probly get a good CB, but what i am trying to say is the u can't fix the team with 1 move it starts in the front office.
and when u r talking about the chargers keep this in mind where are the chargers now and were have they been, 0 super bowls and now we r talking about how good actually is philip rivers, so there may b a flaw in ur argument.
the problem with ur argument is the colts have drafted the worst in the NFL, so u get rid of our GM, then in the New Orleans game our offensive line is so awful that when u give a QB like Drew Brees that good of field position he is going to score 60+, yeah r D is not the best but u take luck because how much would u pay to hav a good chance of basically having manning for 14 years, and u trade manning and get a good LT, CB and a run stopper and then u get rid of our coach and D coordinator.
@PancakeSell thank you for commenting but you couldnt get anywhere near that for manning. I think he is the best QB of all time but at 36 comming off double neck surgery to expect a LT CB or run stopper is ridiculous let alone all three. they are looking at draft picks probably that are contingent on his performance. And cmon man rivers is a good QB everyone has bad years. and just because they didnt win a super bowl didnt mean they didnt get good amount of draft picks for that trade
Vivalasexy your wrong your right is the best prospect.but the key word prospect I think kellen moore should be the best in the future.i think moore will be like a christain ponder drafted earlier than expected but would be rookie of the year thats my guess
@youngflyabs Well at the end of the day who knows, we could both be wrong and they could both suck. My opinion is Luck is and will be better and any team who gets the #1 pick has to take him
No your wrong, i understand what your saying completely but your wrong. First off, if we draft Luck we trade Peyton. Peyton is not starting 2 years if we have Luck. 2nd, Luck is the best QB prospect in over 10 years, just like you said. You do not pass up on that. QB is the most important position of all sports and if ur able to pick up a player that could potentially be elite you don't pass up on that. Trading Luck to stock up on other picks is to big of a risk when theres a guy that good
@vivalasexy thanks for the feed back. but they will not trade manning if they get luck. their owner said that manning is the 2012 starter and it wouldnt make sense to trade manning he is 35 and comming off neck surgery they wouldnt get much for him at all i think he maybe the best QB of all time but due to that injury and his age they wouldnt get a good value for him i understand carson palmers worse but he is 5 years younger and the raiders are dumb
@yournflguru I love Peyton and i don't want him to go, but the team comes first and taking Luck over Peyton is the best option for the team. I agree if we trade Peyton now the best we will get is a late 1st round pick or a 2nd round pick but that. Also what do you expect the owner to say? "Where going to draft Luck and Peyton is going to be traded or forced into retirement" No... Of course they say Peyton will start, every team would say that. Luck's potential is to high to pass on
@vivalasexy you also have a good point but i believe this guy is right.. the colts don't need just one guy (Luck).. they need quite a few guys.. and manning isn't done yet so why get rid of one of the best ever when he can still produce and possibly coach up another qb for the colts for the future.. everyone is banking that luck will be all-pro asa he gets in the league.. what did they think of ryan leaf..same thing.. keep peyton, get players, and build an entire team fresh..not just one player
@brianm010 People think Peyton will come back as good as he used to be. Not only is he coming back from a year off, and not just a minor injury, a neck injury which he has had 2 surgeries on. Peyton is not gonna come back as the Peyton we know. Look at Brady a couple of years ago, it took him ages to get back to an elite level. Peyton will be 36 when he gets back coming off a major injury. You have to take Luck and get rid of Peyton. It's the best option for the teams future
I understand what you are saying, but think about this:Peyton Manning is basically the Colts entire team, and he won 2 championships with them. If the Colts had an average QB those Super Bowl wins wouldnt have happened. Thats why I think that who ever has the first pick should really take Luck because of how great he will most likely be. But I completely understand what you are saying, that first overall pick would be worth a lot. I'd like to see your mock drafts, you seem like you have insight.
@AmericasTeam0822 yes im not denying that he made that team but what im saying is if landry jones or matt berkley sit behind manning for a few seasons they will be great nfl QBs and while they won one super bowl with peyton carrying the team imagine what they could have done with a QB of a little less talent with a lot more help around him on both sides of the ball. Dynasties are built by teams not players and manning may have been enough to win one but not 2-3 thanks for the feedback
If the colts do go with a QB though it would be Luck though. They have a lot of options like draft Luck and trade him, simply trade the pick, have Luck sit behind Peyton or trade peyton. Luck is easily the BPA though and everyone else isn't nearly as good in any position. It's hard to say what is the best thing for the colts to do.
@spfan68 if they dont trade the pick they will deffinetly take luck because there isnt a defensive player in this draft worth the first overall pick im just sayin i think they should trade it rather then draft him
@spfan68 yeah i would think if they could theyd go claiborne or kalil. they have freeney at DE and mathis (he is a free agent i think he will leave) and they have pat angerer who is playing great at LB so i would think theyd either look to improve their ofensive line for who ever their future QB is or try to help their weak secondary. They also might look to go for nick foles or ryan tannehill in later rounds for their future QB. both have talent and would flourish if they sat a few years
Justin Blackmon too maybe to be the future weapon of whoever and be that double threat with Wayne like Peyton had in Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. Trent Richardson is a possibility too if they traded down a bit of course. They certainly need an upgraded RB.
@spfan68 I dont see them going with blackmon between wayne collie tamme clark and garcon wr isnt a big enough need for a team that needs so much help. richardson would be interesting because i feel like rebuilding teams should go for starting with the run rather then the pass since its easier to build an offense around it
It could be a possilbility with Blackmon. Wayne is not that young anymore and i feel like the other WR's are a little incosistent. If they did trade down and Kalil and Martin were gone then i definetly think Blackmon could be looked at by the Colts. Unfortunetly for the Colts there aren't a lot of top defensive players. Coples could be a top 10, but his stock has really dropped this year and Morris Claiborne should be a top 10 though CB's aren't quite as regarded as DE's and DT's.
@spfan68 yeah i know he's old but the WR isnt as big a need as others and yeah i see what you mean but if they trade down im guessing it will be to washington or seattle and if so i think cleveland or st louis will be ahead of them and they both desperatly need wide outs. ill be doing a mock draft later in the week check it out if you want
@yournflguru Wayne and Blackmon could be the new Harrison and Wayne duo, that'd be pretty nice. I'll check yours out for sure. here's mine based on record and net points: 1.IND - QB Andrew Luck 2.STL - OT Matt Kalil 3.MIN - OT Jonathan Martin 4.CAR - WR Justin Blackmon 5.MIA - QB Landry Jones 6.SEA - QB Matt Barkley 7.CLE - WR Michael Floyd 8.JAC - WR Alshon Jeffery 9.WSH - RB Trent Richardson 10.ARI - OT Riley Reiff
@spfan68 looks solid my only complaints are i dont think the rams will go OT since they just got jason smith a few years ago and they need a WR for bradford i think floyd is lower on the big board due to character issues and bad route running (he is a physical beast) and between Ryan torian tim hightower and roy helu i dont think the redskins will go RB especially when they need a QB so badly look for them to go RG3
Jason Smith has been a real bust though and people are saying he should be moved to guard. Bradford got hurt and they give up a lot of sacks it would really help out the injury prone Steven Jackson too. Blackmon would help Bradford, but Kalil would help him + protect him. I thought the Saints had a pretty good duo or trio of RB's, but they went with Ingram last year so i think Redskins could definetly go with a great RB in Richardson who is considered the best since AP.
@spfan68 yeah but teams normally give tackles some time to develop even if they give them too long and their are some good tackles they could snag early in the second and i dont think ingram has been a great pick up for the saints and i feel like the skins need QB right now the saints obviously had brees. after starting off hot the redskins are showing now how bad they need a QB
With the Rams giving up so much sacks and people saying Jason Smith should be a guard not a franchise LT as he was supposed to be and Bradford struggling this year and getting hurt, i think Kalil is best than they get his weapon in 2013. Well if Jones and Barkley are gone and RG3 doesn't enter the draft i think Washington should go with Trent Richardson. He's a lot better than ingram and is considered as good as AP. Ingram wasn't said to be very great, just good.
People are saying RG3 will go in 2013 instead. I think that he would so that he can be a higher pick next year as even though he's had a phenomenal year he's considered the 4th best QB by most. Next year less teams will want a QB and Washington can really pick who they want next year and could be RG3. Michael Floyd is having a really good year though and with Jeffery having a poor year i think it'll boost his stock. I've seen a couple of mocks with Floyd in the top 10 and even 5.
