Whatever happened to the saying "If you don't have anything good to say then shut up".

I am so tired of wasters posting negative comments on YouTube and forums, be they about music, cars, motorcycles, guns etc. There are always some armchair experts out there criticizing. I don't see them posting or doing better. Get a life you jerks.

  • I honestly wish that this kind of music was in the charts.. so that listening to the radio would not be as painful.

You bring sweet healing tunes to my ears, keep it up and release a darned cd or check out Magnatune and get signed =P (So i can listen to you on repeat)

Love your work, you inspiring greatness, Dont ever stop!

Beautiful how your feeling it too not just playing a sheet of music but using your instrument as an extent of yourself as it should be.

My gosh this is stunning an absolute pleasure to listen too.

    Beautiful escape

    Thank you

  • hi crazydaisydoo

where did you get THAT playalong from? (; sounds very nice!!

    very good job!

  • Nice! Im playing this for my audution at the New England Conservatory This Saturday. Love Your Solo and phrasing. Nice backing track too.

  • I was going to rate this AWESOME,but I hit 2 star instead of 5. Our jazz quintet plays this. You have given me some new ideas to toy around with on this tune. Thanks as always....

  • super sonorité qui es cet artiste,,,

  • Really soothing ~ nice!

  • This is great! you have some real talent! But I think you shouldn't have deleted Bb Blue off of YouTube, I listened to it all the time. :)

  • Great rendition! Pure magic..... I do an unaccompanied version of this on my channel.....You wipe me out!!

  • I suggest that anyone who wishes to pick fault with this to upload a video of themselves playing it better

  • in me you now have fan too. keep going on and let me listen pls

  • How long are you been playing? It`s awesome...

You gained a new little fan from Spain.

    Keep doing this good =)

  • beautiful tone..ive always loved this tune...

  • Nice control and expression :) What size reed are you using? What mouthpiece?

  • beautiful and impressive! Thanks for this! I don't miss anything.

  • Hi Matt

    Great sound, appreciated.

It would really help to hear a raw track, without mixing though - what about it?

  • Good!))

  • what i say my students in their very first lessons:

    keep your fingers round man!!!!!

  • I have absolutely no problem playing at high speed. This is jazz not classical. Watch the flying fingers of a lot of jazzers, not all adhere to the "larry teal" book of playing. I am self taught, maybe I should have come to you?

  • you must be kidding, even hindemith doesn`t have a part as fast as a doubletime-line over a medium swing tune....

as a self taught you know how to pick the informations you need to get better so take this one for free...

and another one(for free): try to use the 7th-chords to give your solo some tenions by augmenting it...

  • Very nice. However, I do feel that if you would have thrown in a double time lick every now and then, it would have made the overall quality of this recording even more respectable.... Other than that...Nice job!!

    :-)

  • @crazydaisydoo

one that definitley doesn't keep his fingers glued to the keys is good 'ol Sonny Rollins. Not the worst of sax tenor players :-)

  • @crazydaisydoo This is nothing but very very good judging from that you're self tought!

  • @crazydaisydoo you should make a cd and I would definitely buy it.

  • @yohannes80

Like to hear your interpretation of this piece,

You can teach , so you must be very good?

But its first time i hear people teach jazz?

so your style must be very rigid.

Hope your music is not as rigid too.

    Lets have a listen, huh?

    regards

  • @ftisimex

sorry man, you dont make sense!

first, im talking about technic. you can be a great musician without it, but it helps a lot! beeing able to do the thing you would like to do!!

second, of course you can teach jazz! where do you live?

but what a strange conclusion you do. yeah, that MUST be it!!!

  • @yohannes80 hahaha, not make sense? you think too much of your technique. Music is art form. there are many important things. creative expression, groove, feel, least of all technique. Go try teach Stan Getz or Sam Taylor, see where you get. I don't know, which shell you crawled out from but No musician will critique another for technique. Lets hear how you sound. Yes do us a jam session, lets see what you made of. regards
  • @ftisimex

yes, and you dont understand that i dont disagree with you, of course there other important thing.

but again, where do you live that there arent people that teach jazz?

that would also explain why you think that musicians dont critisize other musicians technique....

  • @yohannes80 you suck, the way you put your fingers is important when you have troubles, but if you put them as you want and it is confortable then it doesn´t matter....go to school and keep studying

  • @pablosaxo

whatever! its your problem, not mine. good luck with that!

  • @yohannes80 . Thís guy has a great tone and plays beautifully. What the heck are you trying to tell us ?

  • This, is called,

    Great Art

  • This is wonderful! Great!!! Thanks for posting!

  • im a tenor player... i have a selmer/ bundy 300

  • wow, thats very good

  • Great work!

  • We'll be expecting a bit more of this smooth jazz thang from you in the future Mr Stone!!

  • Fantastic, you play all my favorites. When are you going to do Desafinado Matt?

Hey, I'd buy a CD too - that is at least 11 then lol!

  • Outstanding! Fantastic sound and phrasing... Check out my version of this song unaccompanied on my channel.... It is one of my first ones over a year ago.... You should find it interesting. I am subscribing to you!

  • You are masterful Matt. You bring the fine sound out that a saxophone can make.

    Best to you always, pard!

  • I had some friends over, in the morning i was listening to this and they woke up to this and said " This this is amazing music to wake up to" .. So it's official you sound good enough to wake up to :D Merry Christmas

  • Thanks for continuing to entertain and inspire us Matt, another enjoyable listen.

You should listen to darrel122, I'm sure you would sell more than 5 CDs, may be 7 LOL (only joking, you'd sell many more).

Merry Chrsitmas to you and yours Matt and thanks for all your Youtube videos.

  • Cheers flyhalf. Thats about 12 in total. I'll warn Simon Cowell so that he doesn't release a Leona record on the same day. Cheers for the kind words yet again flyhalf, you really all motivate me to try and do better.

  • Great!! real smokey bar. You really pulled of the sound that i think this song portrays. Ever think about makin a cd?

  • Cheers Darrel, I think a CD would sell about 5 copies (that is my family) I am not really up to the required standard yet. Nice idea though. Have a great Christmas

  • No, Matt, Darrel pretty much asked what's on everyone's mind. I would definitely buy your CD. In fact, I'll buy 5 for my family to support you. It's a pledge.

  • Wonderful........Happy Christmas to you and yours from Italy

    Michele

  • Thanks, my favourite country (we honeymooned in Siena), and your playing is wonderful!

  • wow very cool and sophisticated love it crazy

  • hey your awesome dude! keep playing! i love listening to your music, it's so relaxing!

btw, i wish you a merry Christmas, and a happy new year!!

  • Every time you post it's a real treat. Once again a beautiful piece of playing. Many thanks, Phil

  • Cheers Phil, much appreciated. Happy Christmas to you and yours

  • Thanks Desertlight for this tip, the only way to get stereo on this is to cut and paste &fmt=18 onto the end of the URL (the web address at the top of the page)

  • I wish you a merry christmas ! Formidable ! Merci.......

  • Merci! Thank you for all your nice comments, but I have to translate most of them, as my French is not as good as it should be. Happy Christmas to you too

  • hi mat, very nice and smooth really . do miss christmas tunes though.

have nice christmas and your family and thnx for the music.

  • Glad you liked it, I cannot find anything decent Christmas tune wise, I might do Auld Lang Syne, watch this space....Happy Christmas!

  • Wow, ur incredible. I play the alto but im only a begginer. How long have you been playing? I posted some vids on youtube, maybe you could check them out and give me pointers!!!!

    Thank you

    -JPMS

  • Fantastic! I used to think George Benson's(guitar) rendition of this was the standard but this is even better!

I don't know what's going on with YouTube, but in clicking on the high quality playback, only the video improved in resolution while the audio remained in mono. I added &fmt=18 to the high res URL and then I got good vid and stereo, and what gorgeous sound it is.

  • I forgot to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a fulfilling 2009.

  • And to you and yours :-), you are supposed to get stereo according to youtube, but we can't complain as it is free! I thought the &fmt=18 trick was redundant now because of this new HQ thing. Good tip though! Thanks for your support throughout the year, have a great Christmas

  • your so inspiring to me. YOu make me wanna practice my Tenor more.

  • cheers mate, much appreciated. Listen to the greats, thats is my tip for improvement. Don't listen to mediocrity (myself included) go for Getz, Desmond, Parker, Coltrane, Mulligan, Brecker... the usual suspects, get to the point where you can sing along to solos, that really helps.

  • so cool

  • Hi Matt, thanks for this wonderfully relaxed performance! Great sound and interpretation.

I, too, wish you and your family a nice Christmas with enough time to spend together playing games, going for walks etc.

I am looking forward to more videos in 2009!

    Uli

  • Cheers Ulli, No Christmas tunes from me this year :-( but the same to you and yours. Christmas has well and truly started here, not like Germany where you don't put your trees up until the 24th. (that seems very sad to me, but I guess it is what you are used to) I caught my 5 year old with her feet sticking out from under the tree, squinting up at the baubles and lights. I remember doing that too :-)

  • Matt - you've done an awesome job on this Leon Russell piece. Great sound on both upper and lower registers. I must say that this is one tune I expected you to break out your guitar. Merry Christmas to you and the fam. Cheers, Yared

  • Cheers Yared, I did think about it, but there is only one chorus to solo over :-) I love Bensons stuff in this period, I once spent a month learning Affirmation by ear (before tab). He is very underrated as a jazzer. Thanks, and Merry Christmas too you too!
