What I don't understand is why "kamisama no birthday" was translated as "the blessed birthday" when "kamisama no birthday" literally translates into "God's birthday" or the more common translation "Birthday of God" although a more properly localized translation would replace "God" with "Christ" since Christmas celebrates the birthday of Christ contrary to popular belief.

essentialy its about christmas time, though christian faith is a minority in Japan, Christmas is still celebrated (at the very least for economic reasons, and like its western counterpart as a celebration).

It is essentialy a "christmas song" even if it does not recognize the religious reason for celebration.

So, you're saying that the reason God isn't in the translation is because the Christian faith is in the minority? That reminds me of the war on Christmas in America where people are trying to remove Christ from it. It sounds to me like the translator is one of those people that doesn't want Christmas to have anything to do with religion so the translation was purposely butchered because I am not fluent in Japanese and even I was able to spot that error.

It's all just the difference of celebrating Christmas as a Christian holiday and Christmas as a general holiday.

Besides, Christ wasn't born in December, he was born around June/July. Christians chose Dec. 25 as the day to celebrate because that's when the Pegans celebrated their holiday, and Chritians were trying to stamp out Pegan holidays and traditions.

You can't just look at people supressing Christians, you have to also see how Christians supressed others.
