I have a 2005 v6 with efans deleted ac 4.10 gears k&n intake Mac headers full dual exhaust with no cats with xpipe sct tuner with a full dyno tune. But I have 37" tires An after all that I only have 181hp to the wheels. You need to do motor work to hit good numbers but next week I'm dropping in mysupercharger with cam throttle body an maf. I'm hoping to hit 300 ish
man it is amazing the difference between an auto and a manual in these trucks. i counted a near 11 second 0-60 on yours. mine with just the intake ran about 9.0-9.2. then i moved to colorado and it was back to about 11-12 seconds. then got my SCT tuner and its back to around 9.2 again. if i was still in PA i would think an 8.5 second 0-60 or so. going back in may to go back to the track to see what i gain with the tuner
i have an 08 4.2L 5spd. right now it just has a K&N cold air intake with a "helper" tube that i put in to help it get a little more outside temperature air going into it. just ordered a SCT tuner with custom tunes last week but havent gotten it yet. but i cant wait. also alien do you know that you do have a tachometer in your truck? if you want to know, ill tell you how.
@timmypstyle tried out that digital tach thing - kinda cool, and useful as i'd like to keep an eye on the rpms when i tow (found out my idle in park when warm is around 680 - 700 or so - maybe a problem there?) thanks for throwing that vid up tho
@timmypstyle the one where you hold the trip reset when you turn the ignition on (without starting) and hit trip reset a few times to cycle through the data fields?
4.10 is a pretty good gear. It's what I have. But people fear gearing way too much. It has a much smaller effect on MPG than drag, wheel/tire weight, and rolling resistance.
90-100lb tire/wheel combos for the big all-terrain tires are extremely detrimental to MPG and acceleration. What's worse is people using stock gearing for those big tires.
@fubecabr yeah 4.56s if you want to be at 4000rpms at 65mph. my 08 is 3.55s which are the highest you can get from the factory in the 4.2L. they had 3.31 or 3.55s. the older ones also had 3.08 as an option. my 04 heritage was a 3.08 with a 5speed so it wasnt too horrible but my 08 would blow it away. i agree with alien, 4.10s max
@helicopter18 It was an IMCO Extreme single in / dual out muffler installed where the stock muffler goes then just dumped right after the muffler. It sounded good in person but created alot of drone in the cab.
for info on your f150 or if you have questions or whatever, join f150online. it is free and there are very knowledgeable people on there, including people who write tunes for programmers for f150s which are usually their specialty. also there are people who have had their trucks dynoed.
@timmypstyle Not sure if that was directed at me or PitbullV6 but I am a member of f150online. Just don't get on there much. I am a regular on V6F150 though. Many people on there are also on f150online.
im not bein a dick when i say this, but you wasted your money on that k&n intake. i have an 08 4.2l f150 and i gained the same horsepower just by adding a k&n intake and cutting the air filter box from around filter. 16 horsepower gain and exhaust got a little deeper
@PitbullV6 I wouldn't say I wasted my money. I could have cut up the stock airbox and added a K&N filter. Sure it might have done the same thing but the K&N looks better, IMO then a cut up stocker, and if I ever decide to sell it I can put the stocker back in and keep my K&N. Also how do you know you gained 16 horsepower? Did you get it dyno'd and if you have I would be glad to see the graphs.
@AlienInferno you didnt waste your money. i have my K&N also on my 08(its for a 04 heritage i had) and you get your money back in mpgs after a bit. he is right about the fact that you could have paid a lot less. look up the "gotts mod" its about $50 and works the same. and according to the guys who actually write tunes for our trucks, you only gain a few hp off of your intake. maybe 4hp.
@PitbullV6 you are full of crap dude. your intake and exhaust only adds maybe 10hp to your truck if that. and thats 210hp in a 2wd truck that weighs over 4000Lbs and you are saying it is just as quick as a 210hp AWD eclipse turbo that weighs like 3000Lbs. dont think so. i know people who have what you have plus a tuner, underdrive pulleys, electric fans and the quickest is still in the mid 7 seconds for 0-60
is that an extended cab or a 4x4, seems a lot slower than my 04 heritage was and my 08 is. both are V6. 04 was 03 body style reg cab longbed with K&N intake and 3.08 rearend. my 08 i have now is reg cab shortbed with same intake off my 04 but it has 3.55 rearend. both are 2wd and 5spds. i know yours in an auto so you have 1 less gear so they have to be longer gears in the tranny, that could be a big reason. still not too shabby for a V6 auto tho.
i take that back, this is actually slightly better than my 08 so you would have whooped my 04. my 08 is about 5 seconds quicker to 100 than my 04 was. i think my 08 takes like 28 seconds to hit 100. i have a few vids but all of them are with 150Lbs in the back so i could probably keep up with you with no weight
my 3100 series buick goes faster lol

Did you get better fuel mileage with the K&N?

Are you posting about the supercharger on any forums anywhere? I'd be interested to hear about the install. Or see pictures.

I also have an 08 with a 4.2 (xl pure work truck) what do you mean with the tach being there??

@rharveyr i have a video that shows how to use it. there is a digital tach on all the trucks. check out my channel.

@rharveyr glad you got it to work. 680-700 is about normal. i bought a SCT tuner and raised mine to about 800-850 but i have a manual tranny.

You need a 4.30 or 4.56 pinion gear. 3.55 stock gear is an epic fail for acceleration.
fubecabr 1 year ago
@fubecabr I would prefer 3.73's IMO. 4.10's max.

its the auto that kills it... my 4.2 w/ m5od gets up a good bit quicker
erik42355 2 years ago
@erik42355 yeah my 08's 0-60 is about 9.2 seconds and i ran a 16.9378@81.66mph with just a K&N intake. reg cab shortbed 3.55LS 5 speed
timmypstyle 2 years ago
@timmypstyle i think its a little faster than that. my 08 4.2 has k&n filter with air box removed and dual exhaust and mine runs 0-60 in 6.7 seconds.
