Following comments about Mel Collins-I saw him in Glasgow with king Crimson circa 1971-what an excellent performance he gave and how appropriate his contribution to Camel as this performance shows.
hmmm well he certainly doesn't sing on Seen one Earth, Speed of Light, Water Colors, and only a little on The Answer and write my name in the dust. does he sing on Big Sky?
other than that I don't know any other Bardens albums...so according to my knowledge, my statement was pretty true ;)
@MadJohnEscapes Well, MadJohnEscapes, he is singing several songs on Further Than You Know, on The Art of Levitation and indeed also on Big Sky, so as I said: the later albums.
By the way, I dont posess The Answer, Write My Name in The Dust and also not Heart to Heart. Would you recommend purchasing those too?
@MadJohnEscapes he sang a few tunes on his solo stuff, didn't he....I'll have to dig out some albums...Heart to Heart was another album...not popular but i think it's great...Slow Motion, Julia, Raining All Over the World (probably a tune about the camel split)...that's 3 he sang from that LP...and then he sang (ish ) The Answer, I can't remember (was that the title).....all the best.
Una lástima la calidad del video pero mejor que nada, la música es excelente. A bit of shame for the video quality but the music is excellent. Thanks for posting...
Oh for the days of rock music by groups such as Camel. The entire western world has sunk into utter mediocrity in every respect. Why? Because that's what the evil, money grubbing corporations want - everyone dumbed down to the same moronic level so that they can be fed with crap and be grateful for it. Watch the film "Idiocracy" - it's not a great film, but it shows where we are headed. Be afraid.
P.S. Peter Bardens solo here always blows me away.
I noticed that Peter Bardens didn't do any lead vocals in this show, even on this track, which he wrote. Was this becuase of the tensions between Andrew Latimer and himself?
its so cool...i love camel....watch my friends first music video ...new cool prog rock band.thanks .....dont forget to comment ....just search for 3DF love machine part 1
I just recently discovered Camel through youtube yesterday. What a great bunch of musicians. I never realized that Mel Collins played with these guys. One hell of a good band.
Hey, what HitMeWithIt is saying is that Richard influenced Camel's sound, not the other way round ;-)
Here you can hear the bass line that is typically Richard's, which is also heard in early-Caravan and Hatfield & the North, and his unique bass play adds to "Never Let Go" a jazzy taste that was not heard in the original version in Camel's 1st album.
I divide my life experiences between before and after seeing Andy Lattimer and Camel perform in 2003. I continue to pray for Andy and his family and friends. For all the glitter and "persona" in performers of progressive rock - his performance seemed as authentic and non-contrived while also heartfelt and blazing in intensity as anyone - for my money that is.
Not to mention he was also accessible to fans after the show in such a natural way...
You can tell Richard Sinclair has influence here. The bassline is so much like a Caravan bass. Listen to this track on most other versions and it's so different. I like this one :)
Check out Camelproductions, com. Well, huharoto, it doesn't look too good for another tour, but you never know. Since 1991 Andy startet camelproductions and gave out 4 new Camel albums.
Thanks camelandu2, is a pitty to know that you´ll never see again Andy in concert, i had the opportunity to see a camel show in 2001 here in México and was fantastic and nostalgic to see them, but well this is life. See you
Thx so much for posting this. I got the "Live Record" double LP (heavy duty japanese Vinyl, the only LP that gets my HI-FI to its limits;-))and was always looking for some video of Camel with Richard Sinclair on bass. Remembers me of better times when I was young...
Love this rock-latin version too. Peter Bardens demonstrating his excellent keyboard playing (and without looking!). Everybody excels on this - bloody marvellous.
It's really fun to see fantastic Collins on sax. They gave him much more space in King Crimson the old days, but he's still O.K. with Camel! Thanks for posting!
One of the most haunting and beautiful rock songs ever written. This is a wonderful instrumental side of it, while the album version displays a more poetic side: two versions... Was this footage from the Camel Footage II DVD or is this an alternative recording of the same performance or another performance??
hey now hey now. If you're one to prefer the original lineup of Camel, that's fine, but please, Sinclair's technical ability and voracity is well evident, especially when he does that solo!
I'm sorry, i can see why you thought that. What i mean to say is that Caravan with Richard was the best group ever. He should never have ended up with these group of hairdressers!
oh...well yes they were a great group. sorry about the confusion. I hope you at least get some enjoyment out of the "hairdresser's" (camel) music too. Both solid.

does that extra part they go into in the middle section remind anybody else of Ace of Wands by Steve Hackett?

If what I read is accurate, Bardens preferred not to sing. All his solo albums don't have his vocals either.

I'd give away my nipple to watch a good version of this concert, and particularly this great song.

I saw and heard it live in the seventies.
If I could here this agalng with "Ice" and "Hymn for her, live i would give one of my balls away.
I read Andrew is getting better, tired but composing a bit.
The fake and soulless music of today needs him.
