@rlmarin1968 Thanks for watching and commenting. I had a piece of scrap aluminum tubing(black), I believe from an old tent. I cut the aluminum tubing to size to fit the ferrocium rod and used tap/die set, went to lowes and picked up 2 wingnuts (smallest they had).
@Tritonnl Glad you like it. This one was really fun to make. messing around with stop motion photography...I took something like 200 photos and spliced them together.LOL. Thanks for the kind words. JimmyG
@Reallybigmonkey1 Woa...in my most humblest replies>.....Thank You...for the very kind words you have posted here. I am working on another video not quite so action packed, but is full of "goodies". Stay tuned, and again...Thanks for stopping by watching, and commenting here. JimmyG :)
@BushcraftOnFire Thanks for the comment man. :) I appreciate that. thanks for the editing comment as well; it took sem time to make this vid, so glad you liked/enjoyed. I've seen your vids and know that you know they take awhile to get them just right. Much appreciated by your comments :) Thanks again. JimmyG
@tylerdurden1971 thanks tyler. yeah its pretty simple if/when that flint fails. it doesnt seem like the manufacturer drilled the hole deep enough into the handle, as I have heard from others on here that had same issues.
@tylerdurden1971 mine has a small amount of room to stash the wing nuts and a very small piece of cotton, barely any. Good idea tyler; let me now how it works out
@TooGoldForThisShit thanks man. i like the play on words- brilliant. yeah...that flint is a beast now for starting fires. you are correct...i get some serious flare action now :) thanks again.
@DrunknShooter thanks for comments; i appreciate. Yeah those wing nuts 1st came to mind when building this, but i do agree they can get lost easily. i dropped one the other day, and found it later. I may try threading the flint and jb weld a nut to one end of tubing at some point.
@NothingCoherent ... I definitely appreciate the kind words.. Thankyou. There are others that I feel are better as they give an in-depth on pros/cons.I use mine quite a bit and it is a conversation piece. Thanks again for commenting. :)
@falcon02012 thanks for watching, and commenting. The flint is 5/16" diameter; pretty hefty. there is a company that sells just the flint rods solo, and can be had for 0.69 cents and 1/8" diameter online and larger...up to 3/8". Steve Austin was the man....

hahahahahaha. i had a lot of fun making this video. i remember watching six million dollar man growing up, and thinking he was cooool. hahaha glad you liked it guys. it took forever to make using stop motion and moving the parts and taking another snapshot and so forth. There are quite a few stop motion videos out there, that i wonder it must have taken forever for them to be made.
Ha ha, great video! I love the six million dollar man theme, I got a good chuckle out of it. I use the same striker. The first one I bought did the same thing to me, except I lost the rod in the bush. It was branded North49, but it's the same one. I took the handle and receipt back and got it replaced with the Coghlans branded one, no hassle. Now I support the rod with a finger when I use it.
@Woodenarrows Man...I must be getting old... I am sorry no replies earlier to your comment. Thanks Jim for the comment. Yeah I wanted it (as I'm sure you know by now) to be different. LOL. my apologies again. :)
Where did you get the pipe/screws to create the casing for the striker rod? That is a great idea.
