  • Where did you get the pipe/screws to create the casing for the striker rod? That is a great idea.

  • @rlmarin1968 Thanks for watching and commenting. I had a piece of scrap aluminum tubing(black), I believe from an old tent. I cut the aluminum tubing to size to fit the ferrocium rod and used tap/die set, went to lowes and picked up 2 wingnuts (smallest they had).

  • yes superman u have saved the world

  • @SuperAaaaa123456 hahahahahahahahaah. Good comment . Thanks for watching, and commenting :)

  • @Tritonnl Glad you like it. This one was really fun to make. messing around with stop motion photography...I took something like 200 photos and spliced them together.LOL. Thanks for the kind words. JimmyG

  • @Sancastrochez Thanks for the kind words Amigo Santiago! Thank you Sir :)

  • @ez2curanut you are welcome. keep sharing the good ideas that you have.

  • Cool Vid Man AWESOME MOD thinking of try'n that one Myself

  • @tylerdurden1971 thanks tyler. yeah its pretty simple if/when that flint fails. it doesnt seem like the manufacturer drilled the hole deep enough into the handle, as I have heard from others on here that had same issues.

  • @ez2curanut I think i'm goint to make my tube a littl longer so i can cap the end an put some mag shaving down in it,you know just in case lol

  • @tylerdurden1971 mine has a small amount of room to stash the wing nuts and a very small piece of cotton, barely any. Good idea tyler; let me now how it works out

  • Jesus, I saw the title thinking "dude, It's just flint.. you can't mod it..."

God, I was wrong, you get SO many more flares now, that was brilliant!

  • @TooGoldForThisShit thanks man. i like the play on words- brilliant. yeah...that flint is a beast now for starting fires. you are correct...i get some serious flare action now :) thanks again.

  • I like the video, fun and creative. Those tiny thumb screws would be a problem for me though I bet I'd lose them first thing. Great video.

  • @DrunknShooter thanks for comments; i appreciate. Yeah those wing nuts 1st came to mind when building this, but i do agree they can get lost easily. i dropped one the other day, and found it later. I may try threading the flint and jb weld a nut to one end of tubing at some point.

  • This is probably the greatest firesteel video ever

  • @NothingCoherent ... I definitely appreciate the kind words.. Thankyou. There are others that I feel are better as they give an in-depth on pros/cons.I use mine quite a bit and it is a conversation piece. Thanks again for commenting. :)

  • Great video.

  • @EDINBURGSTAR thanks Man. I appreciate the comment. I take it you live in Edingburg? I have some cousins that live there.

  • Steve Austin the good old day that is the best video on youtube i just love what you did .

by the way what is the diameter of the flint?

  • @falcon02012 thanks for watching, and commenting. The flint is 5/16" diameter; pretty hefty. there is a company that sells just the flint rods solo, and can be had for 0.69 cents and 1/8" diameter online and larger...up to 3/8". Steve Austin was the man....

  • what did you use for the rod holder?

    great vid by the way

  • @theTicklemehellmo Thanks for watching and commenting. I had a piece of scrap aluminum tubing(black), I believe from an old tent. I cut the aluminum tubing to size to fit the ferrocium rod and used tap/die set, went to lowes and picked up 2 wingnuts (smallest they had).

  • Once again we are very impressed with the creative way you see things. Excellent JimmyG.

  • @EconoChallenge ooops... I'm sorry that i didn't reply earlier. I appreciate the comment coming from you. I too enjoy seeing your vids. :) Thanks again.

  • Excellent production! Bionic! Great fix / idea!

  • hahahahahaha. i had a lot of fun making this video. i remember watching six million dollar man growing up, and thinking he was cooool. hahaha glad you liked it guys. it took forever to make using stop motion and moving the parts and taking another snapshot and so forth. There are quite a few stop motion videos out there, that i wonder it must have taken forever for them to be made.

  • Ha ha, great video! I love the six million dollar man theme, I got a good chuckle out of it. I use the same striker. The first one I bought did the same thing to me, except I lost the rod in the bush. It was branded North49, but it's the same one. I took the handle and receipt back and got it replaced with the Coghlans branded one, no hassle. Now I support the rod with a finger when I use it.

  • Haha! That was good man...haha! :o)

  • @Ggreenvideos Wow. You already saw this one two months ago. What have I been doing?

  • @EconoChallenge Whataya' been doin' man?...hehe!.

  • Great, fun video Jim :)) I thought it just going to be another demo....

    Jim...

  • @Woodenarrows Man...I must be getting old... I am sorry no replies earlier to your comment. Thanks Jim for the comment. Yeah I wanted it (as I'm sure you know by now) to be different. LOL. my apologies again. :)

  • @ez2curanut Not a problem Jim. As I keep trying to explain to my wife, not all comments require a reply :))

  • @Woodenarrows ... yeah, but i aint your wife. HAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHA 8O no worries man.
