do you know how i would go about making one similar to one of these? I'm planning on using a tonepad layout (i have no experience in making pedals) but i was wondering if i could have an opinion from someone who knows what they're on about, great videos by the way!
30 years ago I used an original Big Muff Pi and it had so much gain it was louder than the OCEAN and I had to turn it off after every song...I watched some demo's on them and they dont have near the sustain as the old ones now...and completely destroy to tone of your guitar...(no natural harmonics shine through at all)...Thought about building one, but not now...lol...Good demo though ! I learned how the kits can sound for sure...
I got a Double Muff a couple of years ago, I like it, but it doesn't have the classic Muff tone really, it's got more treble and does sound quite compressed.
Yeah, I was thinking about selling it and just getting a Big Muff . . That was the one I wanted in the first place, but I don't think I could afford it.
But then I suppose the Little Big Muff has the advantage of it not being so big . . XD
The same happened to me xD I asked a little big muff for my birthday (they are cheap here) and I got the double muff, but I was quite dissapointed with the sound to I got the little big muff which is absolutely AWESOME!
I find the volume on my NYC Muff to be rather low as well. About a year later I got one of the Little Big Muffs, which sounds much thicker and LOUDER, which suits me, as I find the NYC Muff a little thin-sounding.
I'm also going to check out the BYOC Large Beaver kit, and possibly try modding the NYC Muff.
I have recently experimented with my amp settings, but I still feel, no matter how I set things up, it's still quieter than the LBM, and a little thinner. Still sounds great, both are different takes on the Muff sound.
I might consider getting one of these green ones though.
I experienced the same with my standard nyc big muff, especially in rooms with a carpet. Good tone, but the volume seemed to decrease alhough volume knob was on max
