  • Ez a video olyan mint egy fekete hideg nyírkos DROG! De szeretem.

  • 0:34- did she say "Play it, Sam?" :P

  • @GranthamStreet she said "play for me" ;]

  • @ahrian69 That's lovely.

  • gyönyörű..

  • The Woman in this, it seems like you would ,when you get into bed with , would cuddle her and just keeo her assured or just hold her and youd be happy with it....happy with that you just made her feel safe

  • i saw the film he did not kill him self it's the men in green suit!

  • @MrBajaki so, it's not because of the song?

  • Everybody must see the movie... There is the answer to the suicide... Amazing

  • Nagyon szomoru.

  • i can't understand a thing!

  • simple question: why did he kill himself?

  • @catrinxenobia because the song

  • Her reaction at 2:04 is FUCKING HILARIOUS.

  • Thumbs up if you DID commit suicide. ;)

  • @marijakely Hi! I should love to translate it to you literally and "faithfully".

On gloomy Sunday I was waiting you, my dear,

with one hundred white flowers and church prayer.

    On dreams chasing Sunday forenoon

the chariot of my sorrow was back without you.

Since then Sundays always have been gloomy.

My drink is only tear, and my bread is only sorrow.

    Gloomy Sunday...

  • Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, so it would be a silly thing do really. Just live your life to the fullest, and always, always be yourself. :)

  • Baww - The movie

  • @Purplecatsoup30 the comment from pszfanyam roughly translated:If you're stupid to understand it,rather shut up!

  • Does anyone know: did Marozsán Erika sing this, or is this someone else's voice?

  • Perchance a spoiler alert haha. Well I will watch it anyway.

  • oh wow

  • i an Hero'd

  • Jeez, this movie has a heavy, heavy, heavy compressor on its audio.

I can hear every bubble of saliva in that bitch's mouth.

  • @aeopmusic ahahaha

  • @aeopmusic In this primitive eastern region of the world, we usually use the term "woman" or "lady", not bitch. If your mom forgot to teach you that.

  • A question about this film: is this a love triangle between the girl, the pianist and the Wehrmacht officer, or is it just about the 'gloomy sunday' song, or what???

    PLEASE ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    lol............

  • @Purplecatsoup30 Ha hülye vagy hozzá, inkább halgass!

  • @pszfanyam Hmmm.....apparently you speak English, which is good for you, but I don't speak Magyar, which is bad for me! I didn't understand your comment.

  • @Purplecatsoup30 Yes, you're right. The restaurant owner Laszlo hires the pianist András to play in his restaurant. Both men fall in love with the beautiful waitress Ilona who inspires András to his only composition. His song of Gloomy Sunday is, at first, loved and then feared, for its melancholic melody triggers off a chain of suicides. The fragile balance of the erotic ménage à trois is sent off kilter when the German Hans goes and falls in love with Ilona as well.

  • Boom.

  • 1:00 The most beautiful women on the face of Mother Earth .......

    and she is Hungarian .

  • @kantor789

Do you know many Magyars called Marozsán? Isn't that a Romanian name, Mureșan?

Come on, man, I was kidding (with) you, she's Hungarian, alright.

She's the most beatutiful woman, but not the best singer. That's Marta Sebestyen. :) Erika M. is the 2nd.

And also the 2nd actress... after Mari Törőcsik.

(Don't know why I needed to write this message)

  • @kantor789 fail

  • @kantor789 yeah looks like it. she is very very good looking indeed

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if you didn't committ suicide (:

  • @k3njishiii I didn't! But the guy who originally wrote the song did...

  • Good movie but I still wanna hear the original

  • Erika played in a lithuanian movie Ghetto a jewish troupe star singer. this looks familiar

  • 49 people killed themselves after thumbing down.

  • i don't believe about it

  • The pianist KNEW the music, so he must have listened to it many times before, still he was alive. Why killed himself? Maybe I should watch the whole movie.

  • @biziclop2 you have a good point there

  • @biziclop2 The pianist composed the music, of course he knew it. He killed himself becouse he was jewish, and the other one with blonde hair was german, and the pianist knew the war is near. He didn't want to experience it, and he knew he will die anyway.

  • @escarei Thanks for the explanation. So this song isn't lethal by default but rather working like a catalyst: speeding up something that is coming anyway. I mean in general, not particularly this claptrap Jewish thing.

  • @escarei war is never a sure promise of death and if you have a future threat of nazis coming in you shouldnt make a bad example for others by killing yourself publically before they even got there, one must have some attempt to leave or fight. however, the reality of the matter is that there's a shitload of suicide in hungary and it's viewed differently there and this is just a kid in california talkin here.

  • @escarei That's not why he killed himself. Even if you hadn't seen the whole movie, the history of the song should give you a clue. Also, in the movie, he was in love with Ilona, but she was being pressured by Hans to be with him. Andras (the pianist) killed himself because of the song, which he wrote the lyrics out of loneliness. His suicide had nothing to do with the incoming war (it was about love).

  • Is that Farinelli on the piano?

  • The singer is hot. I'd hit her.

  • I can't still see the similarity between Hungarian and Finnish...

  • @Monaqute

we say vaj they say voi

  • @Monaqute

  • @danny204ful Hi! Is there a faithful English translation of this song?

  • @marijakely And the second verse:

Come over and see me on last Sunday, my dear.

There will be priest, coffin, hearse and shroud.

At the time flower waits for you, flower ...and coffin.

This travel will be my last one under flowered trees.

My eyes will be open to see you last.

Don't be afraid of my eyes, I'm blessing you if I'm dead.

    Last Sunday...

  • @tocobono I don't realy know who translated, but still so sad!

I only knew the normal lyrics which english words but I knew it woudn't be the real real reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal one! Thnx a lot!

  • @Wadeddcita I did. You're welcome.

  • i like her voice and the song but i dislike the actuation and the movie (i don't know if is a movie or what) whatever tomorrow i will speak about rezso seress in my english class :DD xD

  • @MoonYagami666 it s a movie,dude,it s calling gloomy sunday,u should see it to understand,but i recommand u in german or if u are lucky in hungarian.

  • And if not for us Americans, you Hungarians would be speaking German or Russian!

  • @normanroger LOOOOL XDDD

Probably the biggest bullshit I have ever heard :DD

Little (true) history: The Soviets came in Hungary in 1944 to overthrow the FASIST regime.(no USA)

While the country was sufferd enough from Trianon (which was a lie) and from WW2 ,they still has to occupy our country for more than 40 years. (no USA)

Finally when there was the 1956 Hungaryan Revolution against the SOVIET regime, we called for the USA to aid us against that. THEY DIDN'T FUCKING CAME.

    So STFU

  • Beautiful song. :)

  • shosho utosho artolokkkkkkkkkk vosharnoooooooossssssshohogaakkorrotsoho

  • Working sunday night shift, dark all over the place, listening all night to Gloomy Sunday and Surprisingly enough i SURVIVED.

It seems that i am a Natural Born Survivor.

    Working next sunday again.

  • I wish I could understand Hungarian. :-/

  • Such a beautiful song and a great movie. As for the talk of americans being idiots. It is somewhat true. Too many americans are racist, intolerant, ignorant jerks. I am american. But I know quite a few americans who are intelligent and accepting of all people. Like me. : )

  • The song and the scene are so tragic together, especially considering what happens in the movie.

  • 48 people committed suicide

  • Why do people love to fuss and fight? It's just some music. Hell, enjoy it.

  • Ki az a durván 50, maroknyi szívtelen ember akinek ez nem tetszik???

  • nekem játssz...

  • such a beautiful language , but stupid americans with their idiot english has dominated the world , the stupid english preventing the world from learning such a beautiful ,sweet , hungury language

  • @314eddy Hungarian is a notoriously hard language to learn, even to people who have never heard a word of English, you ignorant dip. Learning English has NEVER prevented anyone from learning any language, but did it ever occur to you that people learn English rather than Hungarian beacuse IT IS MORE USEFUL? Over 500 Mil people speak English, and almost all major western websites are in English, including this one, only approx 12 Mill speak Hungarian, 40x less, get it now?

  • @wendighoul I'm from England and English is my first language. I started learning Hungarian because of two incredibly good friends, and sometimes even they laugh and ask me why I do so :P

  • @nirmz94 I'm from Canada and English is also my first language, but I went to Hungary on a student exchange when I was about 13. I learned the very basics, jo napot kivanok, etc, but it was a struggle to learn even that. Just try, as a native Englsih speaker, to properly pronounce the name Gurgi! I have nothing against Hungary or the Hungarian people, I just found it ridiculous that 314eddy was blaming English for people not learning Hungarian.

  • @wendighoul Haha, no, I get you, I should have probably mentioned that before :) Ah, cool, my friend's family is from Toronto! At the moment, I really want to go to Hungary, but that's partially due to my friend. One of the plus sides to this is that it taught me how to say kedvesem properly, whenever I type it I never thought of it like that. The pronunciation is indeed so hard. It's one of the few languages easier to write than speak, for me. :)

  • @wendighoul

It is true, but this 12 Mill people is very lucky!

Because they know what means this sentence:

"s tudom, hogy mit jelenthet egy nyári alkonyon

a házfalakról csorgó, vöröslő fájdalom. "

  • @mortel0 Found a decent translation on Babel Web Anthology, from a poem by Radnoti Miklos called nem tudhatom: "I know who walks the road, whither and at what hour, I know what it might mean if reddening pain should fall". Of course, I am sure it sounds better in the original.

  • @wendighoul

    it is better translation:

"I know who walks on the road and where they are going,

and what it might mean when in the summer sunset

the house-walls shimmer and drip with crimson-agony."

  • the chick is HOT

  • Dude. I died listening to this. But then I realized I am a fish lol.

  • cállate la boca todo lo que pendejos de mierda...and good song

  • a beautiful film, regardless of the cat-fighting.

  • this song is fucking beautiful, I think that those who "committed suicide" (supposedly) misunderstood the lyrics!

  • I am Finnish and i can totally relate to this song. I m not contemplating killing myself or anything but the song is really mesmerizing..and the girl..reminds me of Rachel Weitz!

  • @cleantonight1972

Rachel Weisz's father, George Weisz, was a Hungarian-born inventor:)

  • Gyönyörű.

  • Gloomy Sunday has caused hundreds of suicides...I had to ask my mum to not allow ME to.

  • @TaylorMousse well i think th etruth is that many suicides have been while listning to the song..there is no science why a muisc can cause suicide..

  • Comment removed

  • What a haunting song! I read about it in histories of Indian cinema, and how it had moved our composers in the 1950s

And if this film was made in 1943 it speaks volumes about the extremely high levels of filmmaking, including photography and set design, Hungary had reached by then

    abszolút zseniális!

  • This song is both beautiful and horrible. Because i just listend to the German version before, so i understand the text: The lady sings of planning a SUICIDE. I think this is terrible......VERY SAD !!!

  • hermosa cancion

  • Great song, good movie.

  • Magyarul is pretty dang melodic, I must say. Some people say Italian is the most melodic language, but this video proves that Hungarian is the most melodic one.

  • Wehrwolf1943 it's mostly about suicide. The closest translation to English is "Gloomy Sunday" by Sam S Lewis or Billy holiday or a bunch or other versions in English but the original Hungarian song is the absolute best!

  • man its not the original its from the movie

  • After listening to this song and to the magic voice of that beautiful girl, I have a stronger desire to live, not to die!! Hungarian is a wonderful language

  • This is a wonderful song in any language. I don't understand Hungarian (I don't know what the language is actually called, if it's different forgive my ignorance.), but the song sounds just as beautiful to me in it's native tongue. I haven't read into the arguments about this song on this post, but @PeacyKat, please don't consider all Americans to be idiots. I am an American myself, but I'm far from whatever preconceived notions you have of Americans. I appreciate people for their differences.

  • @CountStackula510

native tongue? All american are idiots.. (:Rohadt volna az anyádba a fejed te nyomorult amerikai fattyú...

  • @Pretz93 you cannot possibly say, with any honest sense of conviction and justification, that ALL Americans (or people from any other nation) are idiots. I'm an American, and I agree that we are, as a whole, an ignorant, lazy, and self-decidedly under-educated country, and what makes us so intolerably childish and stupid in our behavior, IS OUR TENDENCY TO GENERALIZE THE NATURE OF A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE AND ATTEMPT TO DEAL WITH THEM ALL IN A HOMOGENIZED, HEARTLESS MANNER. So for you to make,

  • @Pretz93 the same kind of statement, out of your anger and misunderstanding, is equally idiotic, and I urge you to promptly go fuck yourself.

  • @Pretz93 I would prefer if you didn't call me an idiot, thank you...as a country, a lot of Americans are stupid, but there are a few smart people. You are doing the exact same thing the idiots do, though. You are making a statement that says EVERYONE is this way. You are stereotyping.

  • @Pretz93 na, ez mar tulzas

  • @CountStackula510 Americans tend to be idiots. The song was composed by Rezso Seress, who was Hungarian, and the words were written by Laszlo Javor, who was Hungarian and also shares my last name.

  • Szívbe markoló...

  • ezt hallgatva örülök hogy magyar vagyok. :)

  • beutiful sound... ah, hungarian is beutiful... but what is she singin' 'bout?

  • Beautiful movie! I bought the dvd for keep too.

  • she is beautiful!

  • why is the Waffen SS in this?

  • @Madara2233 watch the movie :)

PS: waffen ss peoplre suck !

and don t think all germans were nazis ;)

  • This is such a beautiful piece. To my ears (which people may say are fried from screamo and metal) this is best sung in the original language, Hungarian, even though I speak English and don't understand a word of Hungarian.

  • @Exodiamad Es la cancion original, pero no es el interprete original.

  • @Exodiamad no

  • amazing voice! so beautiful in Hungarian!

  • ben becker is a hot piece of ass.

  • wow thats so beautiful.

  • what the fuck shit .....

  • There is no way to do justice to this song by translating it into into any other language. In Hungarian you can shade the words by adding sometimes multiple suffixes, so the single word can get much deeper and subtler meaning. It is no coincidence that out of all languages in the world it was the breathtakingly sad and hauntingly beautiful Hungarian song that managed to drive people out of their mind. Respect.

  • @Happyascanbe1 still, it sounds beautiful being sung by billie holiday

  • @Happyascanbe1 Yeah well fuck that for a game of soldiers. The most important parts of the world speak English mate!!!!!

  • @jimdivax

There are more and less important parts of the world?! Hm interesting. Does that perhaps have something to do with where you happen to be? Well, I thought so. ;-)
