  • The translation give an idea of the song but doesnt give justice to the words use in french..

  • okay les idiots la s'tasser les niaisries.

Common. BVV31389 is absolutely right. "Plus rien" translated is "nothing left"... When translating, you don't translate word for word.I know all you french immersion people think so literally, especially when it comes to translating but you can't argue that. Go get more knowledged before you come here and embarrass yourselves.

  • It mean "No more "

  • MOOOHAAAMMMEEDDD!!!!!!!!!

  • je suis content de voir que des anglais aime cette chanson. Au Québec cette chanson à vraiment fesser notre génération.

I'm happy to know anglish like this song. In Quebec, this song was a really big revelation on our generation.

  • OMFG in french class we watched this the whole period. REPLAY REPLAY REPLAY oh gawd.

  • Ummmmmm......deers? mooses? i don't think that is the right grammar but the rest of the lyrics are pretty good.

  • Yep, deers and mooses gotta drink too!

  • @xo2bcute Lol, ya it actually really does say "deers" and "mooses"!

  • Your translations are pretty accurate, but they look like they came right out of an online translator. The words dont flow as smooth as they should, therefor a lot of the meaning and the impact the song should have are lost...

  • Le message n'a toujours pas passé comme on a pu voir à Copenhague, mais peut-être n'aurons-nous pas à attendre toutes les catastrophes de la chanson pour réagir... peut-être. Je suis content de voir que vous considérer le francais comme difficile!

  • Hey, if "stopper" is "stop" then why the hell do all the stop signs say "arrêter."

BTW, merci pour les sous-titres, je voudrais apprendre francais, mais c'est tres difficle pour moi parceque je ne habite pas maintenant pres des pays ou provinces que parle français. Alors, je ne me répéte (trying to say practice here) pas souvent ... comme regardez-vous.

  • French is a complex language. You just can't understand the real meaning of a word out of his context.

  • well, it's not that complex either...

  • if you want add me on msn and you can have someone to chat to, writing is i good start.

    PM if you want

  • stop actually means arrêter he just used stopper to sound english, thats how quebecois use english words.

  • @vkeightyfive

je voudrais apprendre le français mais c'est très difficile pour moi parce que en ce moment je n'habite pas près des pays ou des provinces qui parle le français. Alors, je ne pratique pas souvent... comme vous voyez.

Your doing well ! there's some minor errors but we get your point

  • c peut etre "trop alarmiste" pour certains ms c malheureusement ce qu'il va forcément arriver à notre Planète Bleue qui deviendra grise....

  • kay wow.. im learning grade ten french.. in ontario. so im not french at all ;) but anyways. in literal form it means nothing more simply because nothing is rien and plus is more. but to fit the song, and in order for the song to get its correct meaning out, it's "nothing left" you babies dont have to fight about it. its both right. go cry to your mommies now.
  • it's nothing left ... 100%

  • You said noth

ing left...its notherng more or more nothing

  • No, in that context it's "nothing left". I'll admit my English is not perfect, but I'm pretty sure "nothing more" and "more nothing" don't mean what the singer is singing.

  • "plus rien" plus=more rien=nothing..

  • Dude. I KNOW that. I'm a French Canadian. But I'm also studying Translation at Université Laval and I know very well by now that translation is a lot more than just writing the text word for word in the other language. I stick by my "nothing left".

  • nope.its still nothing more.I proved my point ^^

  • How exactly did you prove your point? You didn't prove anything. I know that the word "plus", by itself, means "more" And that, still by itself, "rien" means "nothing". BY ITSELF being the key words here. They're not by themselves here. There's a whole song to take into context.

If you're so sure your French is better than mine, why don't you present your argument in French, then?

  • I can't say that I fully understand the text without the assistance of subtitles (provided most kindly by people like you). I always thought they were saying 'nothing else'. 'nothing more' sounds wrong to my poetic ears. 'nothing left' is more likely to be correct. Would have to ask to artists to be sure...

I tend to pick at a different line anyways. "We lived with the rhythm of the seasons..." Meh, you translation is still good.

  • Its «nothing left» because in French plus= more but if you don't pronounce the s at the end it means nothing. Even if its spell the same way. In this song it means nothing. «Plus» can be a synonym of «pas» that means not (and step).

Ex : Il n'y a plus (pas) de neige. (Theirs no more snow).

  • "plus rien" veut vraiment dire "nothing left"

"rien de plus" est l'équivalent de "nothing more"

  • Ok lets see

    "plus"=more

    "rien"=nothing

  • Ok, at this point you're just trolling. I'm blocking you. Thanks for trying, don't play again.

  • @Dragonfablemaniac "plus" doesn't only means "more" it depends on how it's used.

  • My French teacher made my class listen to this song to amylyse it. And I find it awesome. The translation is word for word which is very impressive. Jaime Les trois accords et Les cowboys fringants!!

  • A toute les fois que je voies des traductions de francais vers anglias ou que je les faits, je realize encore une fois que le francais est la plus belle langue de la terre...

  • Non,elle n'est pas...

  • Chacun a son opinion et mon opinion c'est qu'elle l'est.

  • this is a great translation i found no faults at all. the only critism i have would be that half the time i couldn't see the english words because the background was very light and the white blended in...that is all

    Thank you very much

  • Si on ne réagit pas avant sept ans, c'est ce qui nous arrivera dans 30 ans

  • Je ne pense pas que ça va arriver dans 30 ans. Je te trouve un peu alarmiste! L'humanité ne se terminera pas dans 30 ans...

  • Je parle surtout du passage avec les catastrophes... sans compter les guerres qui nous guettent

  • c'est très très beau

merci à rebel pour le partage

Prenez-en de la graine messieurs que je qualifierais de politico-profiteurs !!!

  • The translation is not bad at all!

  • this song makes me cry, but this song is also right! we must stop our ways before its too late to turn back! look around you! we die of old age or die like everyone else! we have screwed up *so bad*, all of us!

this song has a message! Listen.

  • Les paroles sont un peu gnangnan (et puis la propagande écolo on commence légèrement à en avoir ras le cul) mais la musique est sympa.

  • Comment removed

  • aaah hurricanes, c'est ouragan. Meuh. J'me sens moins idiote! Tu vois, tu m'apprends encore, lol. Maintenant j'comprends mieux pourquoi l'équipe de hockey s'apelle comme ça. M'enfin, bien fait, bonne synchronisation.

Mais encore une fois, le son est de basse qualité, mettons.

  • What is this?

  • It's my translation of the lyrics. As is written in the video description. What were you expecting?
