You have 55 GSA MEMBERS IN UR SCHOOL?! O_O Wow, our is pretty small. Like, I'd say 25 at most. I only went this year and the last few months too..once a week it was held on Mondays. There are more than quite a few ppl I know who def. support tho, gay, straight, bi, whomever. :) Warms my heart to see supporters, and know supporters. My friends. <3
@NikeBasketball43: Not really, some of my teachers kinda supported too, and those who did were straight. (Even those who didn't say anything were straight as well). The Bible says homosexuality is wrong, God says nothing about it. Isn't God supposed to love you unconditionally? If God hates gays or fags, then he wouldn't have created such sexuality in the first place. We're not bullied b/c it's wrong, but b/c there are narrow-minded, ignorant homophobes & haters who think they're better.
why not just learn how to stand up for yourself? you've gotta learn not everyone is going to hold your hand. you have to make a difference dont be silent stand up and let the world know who you are.
I know it must be so cool and culturally hip to support your gay friends. Aaahhh. How do you show your support for people who get bullied because they're short, because they're not "good looking," because they're nerds, because they are poor, because they're fat, because they have freckles, because they are physically weak, because they're emotionally weak, because they talk funny, because they're Christians, because they have no friends, because they're new at school?? How do you?
@MRkingsman1: LGBT people are 4x more likely to commit suicide than heterosexual. 1 out of 3 queer kids are bullied, beaten and bashed. And people of the LGBT community are MORE likely to be bullied than straight.
Our school did this unofficially. We weren't able to tape over our mouths, but we wore red ribbons around our arms. Most of the teachers were okay with it and didn't make us talk, but some did. The kids in my class had a fun time trying to get us to talk.
this is beautiful. my school lets us do the silence. i did it. silent for the whole day. im strait but i support gay people. this is a good video and song
kids participating in the day of silence at my school - including some of my straight friends, and my gay/bisexual friends. I am straight. I have plenty of gay and bisexual best friends. I took part in the day of silence because I wanted to stand up for my friends, and for something I believe in , which is gay rights. I am straight. At my school, if you wanted to take part in the day of silence, you had to get a purple or rainbow ribbon with a piece of paper attached to it saying that you are taking part in the day of silence, and what the day of silence is. I can't tell you how many people I saw wearing a purple or
I think its great if people are proud to be gay, whatever but I feel like its stupid for anyone, gay or straight to assume that wearing tape will change anything really its just annoying to look at. People say it "raises awareness" but people are already aware I know I was. Idk don't hate, thats just my personal opinion and no theres no way im anti-gay I support same sex marriages and voted against proposition 8 lol
To all the people who keep saying that homosexuality is a sin, just go away. This video was not for close minded assholes to comment your WRONG OPINIONS about lgbt people, they are just like you and me. Love is love. Doesn't the bible say somewhere that we were made in God's image? If so, he made lgbt they way they are and he loves us the way we are. I'm straight personally but a lot of my friends are gay and bi and I participate in this every year. 'Course I don't got to school anymore.
i am bi and this girl i really like her she is funny smart cute loving caring she loves to party but she dont like me she dont see me that way and she has a bf oh she is bi too but what do i do should i tell her how i feel or just be sad and try to forget about it
@gdog4134 i am bi and i do belive in god but if god loves us enogh then he will exept us for who we are but in my opion dont be set on one thing live life as u go it is much easyer dont dwell over one thing
I'll be praying for ya'll Christ died for ya'll just like He died for a junkie, a pimp, a prostitute, etc. He loves you but hates your sin, so don't get it twisted. There is hope and I'm going to counteract this day of silence with a day of love for all ya'll because God is love. Hate the sin, not the sinner.
i will be partisipating this year... we do not have a GSA where i go.... but i am leading a load of people to form one for people in the future!!!! i will be doing this... and i hope soon people will realize LBGT are not any diffrent then other people and will start treating everyone the same...
icet676 and gdog4134 you both have your right to say what you want but I hate that your so negative and it's appalling that in this day and age people can't accept people for who they really are. You just proved that people are still so narrow mined and can't be accepting. So any for any christens ,read this. "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (NIV, Matthew 7:1-2)
@beinmyslef Have you read also that Jesus said the way is narrow that leads to life?We cannot judge, but we are told to expose by the authoirty of God himself, not our own.Truth has always been exclusive.A sinful world does not like the light/Why did this world hate jesus?B/c he exposed the works of it were evil.My goal is not to show respect to homosexuals or mock them, but simply proclaim what the word of God says that being homosexuality is a sin. Now, it a forgivable sin just like lying or
@beinmyslef disobeying parents.and I do not want homosexuals to feel without hope from our message but to realize there is hope in one Greater, that is Christ our Lord.It is not that he cannot set them free from being homosexual, but many do not want to be free. But when we renounce our sins and trust in the Savior, he promises to deliver us.There are literally thousands of ex-homosexuals who are ready to testify to that.
@GodLovesUs100 How, in your opinion, would LGBTs be commiting a sin just for being who they are naturally? Remember, the Bible was written 2000 years ago and was revised and edited by members of the church whose greatest asset was fear. They could have revised the Bible to say anything that agreed with them and keeping their power. I am not against those who believe in God and Jesus, but please do not ask those who live happy, full, and meaningful lives to renounce their way of life.
@Whovian93 it's not my opinion, it is what the word of God says. You see, God made them male and female from the beginning.Scripture affirms that a marriage is one man and one woman cleaved together for life under a sacred covenant, the way the Creator intended it to be.Blatantly going against that is a direct offense to God.I don't believe people are born that way, but even if they were, that still would not justify it in the same way I was born a sinner, but that does not make my sin okay.
@Whovian93 Secondly, where is your proof for this revising the Bible? B/c if we look to history, we see the Bible as one of the most amazingly preserved pieces of literature ever.Look at how much those dead sea scrolls confirmed for us for instance. There are literally thousands upon thousands NT manuscripts that have been dated with 99.5% accuracy WITH ONE ANOTHER, that is INCREDIBLE considering the time they were penned and copied was a time of great persecution of Christians and even poverty
@Whovian93 As early as the third century, we have entire copies of the Bible in Greek and manuscripts dating back even earlier than that.Scripture was affirmed around the time it was written, nothing was ever changed however there were several counsels that only affirmed what was already established about the canon of scripture. So how can the Bible, with 66 books, written over a span of 1000+ years on different continents come together and fit is such unity and harmony?

@SuperZiggy95 Go to the vice principal, superintendent, teachers, staff, faculty, students, and anyone else you think will support you, and get them to sign a petition for it!
I'm going to participate this year!!! But sadly I haven't come out yet so I'm just gonna say I have a sore throat/lost my voice }: hopefully one day I'll be brave enough to actually put tape over my mouth...
@TheMayusama I don't think you should have to be out to show your support. Support your friends, or just support the cause. Good luck! I'm glad you're going to be participating either way. <3
I'm bi and I am so proud of it. I've been bullied and taunted but on the 15th day of April, this year, I will be participating in the day of silence. I even got 2 of my completely straight friends to help me. This video moved me to tears. I wish everyone would just see that being LGBT is not bad. I live in a rural area so it's twice as bad, almost everyone around here is anti-gay even my own father.... But we will make a difference. I wish my whole school would participate.
@darthkiller14 Silence is far more noticed in a world of noise than adding more noise to it. It's also more mature than yelling and screaming and holding signs, I think. I'm sorry you disagree with the method of protesting, but hopefully we can agree to disagree. :3
16th we had people actually pinned against the wall during DOS. Was pretty amazing how much hate was broght out by people yuou wouldnt excpect it from. Good luck to everyone on April 15th!
What's the name of this song? I'm proud to say that i'm from a tiny village and I participated in it. I got 4 other friends to do it with me, and I am going to do it next year too. maybe i can get a couple of clubs to announce it next year
This is going to be my first year doing it and I'm excited, our GSA is doing a lot to be heard, we participated in Ally Week, We are going to pparticipate in No Name Calling Week, and possibly MLK weekend. This is great that you spread some awareness in your school.
when is the day of silence? is it april 17th? i need to make a stand. im gay and me and my girlfriend walk in the halls hand in hand with our heads up high and so many people gag and say mean things, i finally got the nerve to come out and tell the world and all i want to do is run back in the "closet". my school needs to see what gays go through. if you agree and you know what i can do please message me.
I've been thinking of suggesting it for my school...but we live in the belly of the bible belt...in a small town. I don't think it would go over too well.
I'm also from the bible belt. Even if your school doesn't approve theres nothing stopping you, and anyone else who wants to participate from doing so. I'm looking forward to participating this year. We make t-shirts, and give out the little card with the spill on what we're doing to any one that asks. Peace!!
I'm straight but I did the day of silence last year. It felt good sticking up for what I believed in. I didn't talk throughout the whole day. It wasn't as hard as I thought I would. I have been called a lesbian all day long, but so what? LGBT rights all the way :D
Unfortunately, I couldn't participate this year, because I was on a retreat with my school...so silence probably wouldn't have been appropriate yesterday. But I can't wait until next year. My heart goes out to the GLBT community who must deal with bullying and harrassment every day.
Day of silence was fun today. I'm not gay but it feels good standing up for my friends who are. what really bothers me though is that i walked into German class today and this kid saw me wearing the DOS sticker and said "wow you must be gay, faggot. go kill yourself. having fun with your bf?" i didn't mind that he was calling me gay, but I am bothered because i know he was doing it to make fun of me. i hate homophobes with a passion
our school has a gsa and im glad. this will be the secnd time ill be doing it. there are so many people out there that cant come out because of comments like the ones we see whenever a supportive video for gays pop up on youtube. its like they specifically weatch the videos to show exactly what we're standing up against. im gay and i only have friends who accept me for me.
I participated in this, cuz i am bi, and my chorus teacher was so mad at me, she sent me to the principal cuz i wldnt talk. and i the nest day i told her tht she had to get over it cuz im not goin to sit down if i shld be standin up 4 wht i am and believ in. and she was really mad. So i quit chorus.
this is a great video. i wish our school participated like this. next year, im making posters and stickers and shirts and im gonna do all i can to promote this because our little town isnt open enough to the LGBT community!
ok maybe i was wrng we don't have the same rights bur we should!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we r no different from anybody elese !!!!!! i hate ppl who r so judgemental and show hatred towards lgbtq ppl!!!!!!!!
My boyfriend is bi and weve been going out for less than a week , bu ti am doing this tommorow and i will show my respect for Lawrence King. Let's just hope i dont let anythign slip..i'm pretty exciteed...
Gays do have the same rights as straights? Tell that to all the people around the world who can't adopt, who can't get married, who can't do half the things straight people take for granted. I'll be going above and beyond tomorrow. I'm making posters, going to hopefully have my friend make an announcement on the school tv, and have duck tape over my mouth that says "Bi". I'm going to make a difference, whether it hurts me or not.
now, u can be mad at me for this, but gays have the same rights as straight people, so wtf, also, gays are never silent, there quit loud actually just watch home design shows, message me on ur thoughts!!! teehee
I'm gay too, like you, capon, and you and I are a minority in the lgbt world. Next time I hear South Pacific or Oklahoma, I'm going to go berserk and pull your hair out.
Im gonna put this as NICELY as i can.... FUCK all you people that think its gross or a sin ! its who we are , so GET OVER IT <3 (:

I'm bi and I am so proud of it. I've been bullied and taunted but on the 15th day of April, this year, I will be participating in the day of silence. I even got 2 of my completely straight friends to help me. This video moved me to tears. I wish everyone would just see that being LGBT is not bad. I live in a rural area so it's twice as bad, almost everyone around here is anti-gay even my own father.... But we will make a difference. I wish my whole school would participate.
-Bi and PROUD!

ok by not saying anything dosnt make a difference your suppose to shout and do shit not shut the fuck up honestly
darthkiller14 11 months ago
@darthkiller14 Silence is far more noticed in a world of noise than adding more noise to it. It's also more mature than yelling and screaming and holding signs, I think. I'm sorry you disagree with the method of protesting, but hopefully we can agree to disagree. :3

I'm pansexual (a bit of a sub-category of bi) I wish my school would do this.

I don't think it would go over too well.
puggles360 2 years ago
I'm also from the bible belt. Even if your school doesn't approve theres nothing stopping you, and anyone else who wants to participate from doing so. I'm looking forward to participating this year. We make t-shirts, and give out the little card with the spill on what we're doing to any one that asks. Peace!!

I'm straight but I did the day of silence last year. It felt good sticking up for what I believed in. I didn't talk throughout the whole day. It wasn't as hard as I thought I would. I have been called a lesbian all day long, but so what? LGBT rights all the way :D
fieldhockeyislove93 2 years ago
I really want to participate. I hope me and my friends can!
FrostintheDesert 2 years ago

Zanmuseiri 3 years ago 29
now, u can be mad at me for this, but gays have the same rights as straight people, so wtf, also, gays are never silent, there quit loud actually just watch home design shows, message me on ur thoughts!!! teehee

Go in front of your class and tell them you're gay. Note the majority of their reaction. People like you disgust me.
Scientist1992 3 years ago
Do black people disgust you?
How about chinese people?
Mexicans?
Who doesn't disgust you?
We are all people, and we are all on this planet, stuck together on this oasis in space, and to survive we must coexist.

gays have the same rights already, wtf, this day is just tearing both choices apart, not bringing them togather

This day is very important, no matter what you say.

they have the same rights
but that doesnt stop the discrimination....

its about equal treatment...
