Really impressive. What do you bring with you on a long run like this? (I mean to drink, eat and possibly change clothes?) And how can you get enough fluid for such a long run?
@HugRunner In the last year I've stuck to water and solid energy chews (e.g. Shot Bloks). I drink and eat an energy chew every 10 minutes to intake about 200 calories per hour. I usually carry a hydration pack, which I refill periodically. This often requires stopping at gas stations or convenience stores and/or timing loops by my house to get water. Liquid is easy compared to food since your body can only absorb about 200 calories/hr while running slow burns 400-600 calories/hr.
@mataddy9 I only made it 50k on the Great Wall. The hills were so bad that it took me 12 hours to make it that far. Doing a 50 miler in KY next month followed by running 12 hours at a Relay for Life event.

2) Headphones are no worse than listening to music in the car as long as the volume is low
3) You run it, you can make nutritional comments
4) I've done plenty of 40+ long runs, have a good sense of my fitness level, and told people where I was running. Only non-ultrarunners think passing out is an issue.
I'm training for my first ultra, The Highland Sky 40mi trail run in West Virginia June 18th. Should be an awesome run.

What's up with the random negativity?

I agree, heat hurts. I wish you the best on your run.
