they should rename this "Deadliest warrior:THE MOVIE" the battle scene is like someone grabbed a bunch of different warrior classes from all over the world and made them fight. I laughed my head off when i saw the samurai get into position. they never fought in thailand. the Chinese, maybe but the samurai? no way...lol I give the movie a 2.6 out of 5 the costumes and lighting were great dialogue was kinda crappy. 3d effects Horrible fighting lacked climatic energy.
@gamefox120 samurais and ninjas were there in thailand because portuguese caled them to fight with them against enemy.portugal haved trade routes even to japan(nagasaki).so they were here to help portuguese
its true that the Portuguese traded with the Japanese
that doesn't necessarily mean any Japanese left with them back to the west.
if you read any history on samurai you will find that the only foreign land that they ever stepped foot on was Korea. but they were beaten back. they were never in Thailand. period.
@gamefox120 Actually, there was a well known cluster of Christian Japanese who moved to Portugal and also a larger number within the Philippines and other christian colonies. Some of them even adapted the name Japan as a surname. During WWII, the Japanese decedent Christians from Philippines and other countries with exiled Japanese decedents were conscripted by the Japanese Imperial army into service. According to "The Portugal Story" The Portuguese did indeed ship away many onto these islands.
In the History wich the fiction is inspired, we know that many Portuguese lived and served in Thailand since the 16th century to the 18th and 19th centuries. There are entire neighborhoods in major Thai cities of Portuguese colonies origin. Soldiers, missionaries, politicians - they served the Court and many kings and dynasties. They participated in several civil wars with many men and also defended Siam from Burmese invasions.
But practicing such oriental martial arts with they skilled Thai friends is new (lol) awsome. The fictional-Character in the movie is called Fernando da Gama.
Isn't it funny that the Spaniards have British accents? haha
I made the mistake of renting this movie and half way through it I turned it off, it was just too horribly made to watch til the end. I get that there are Chinese, Japs, etc. in the area because of trading but everything else about the movie didn't make much sense.
Its jesus! he can do anything!

Why are there ninjas, British outfits, and chinese elements in a movie supposedly set in Thailand?! Did Gary do any research at all?
ThaiLakornFanatic 2 years ago 7
No, that's why a mercenary from Portugal knows martial arts. But there are no brits, just spanish and japanese mercenaries.
Btw the ninjas can fly.
