  • Jazz buffs recognize that the bass solo borrows heavily from Chameleon!

  • slappa da bass

  • Holy crap we played this in our award winning jazz band last year... Tht wasn't 2 bad, but doing this while marching has 2 b freakin suicide on a drill chart

  • just got this song passed out in marching band today!!!

  • I was best friends with the song writer of Dancing Men, John LaBarbera's son. He actually came and directed us playing that song back in 1995....cool...we also played Tiger of San Pedro. He's a jazz professor at the University of Louisville. Awesome teacher, great guy. He also wrote "Pop pop fizz fizz" Alka Seltzer to the Rescue. No Joke. I met Doc Severson because I name droppede him and he turned around very interested. John also introduced me to Wynton Marsalis. Awesome stuff!

  • @nmt593 If I remember right the higest not for the lead trumpet is a triple c, which isn't that bad

  • @nmt593 The saxophonist is Steve Marcus.

  • we always took it a bit slower...

  • Probably my favourite fusion song there is.

  • What year was this recorded?

  • @GC2010Trumpet 2007 i think

  • @toson569 I don't think that's possible. I'm pretty sure Buddy died in the 80s.

  • @48rulesall oh then im thinking of a different song

  • @48rulesall Buddy died in 1987

  • i am playing this in marching band, haha.

  • @incurrentstanding1

We played it at Terry Parker High in Jacksonville, FL the 1982 football season. I had the tuba solo!

  • Brings back some memories. Played this song with my high school jazz ensemble.

  • Possibly my #1 BR chart. But correction: the other version is off the "Rich in London" album. That said, I agree this is a tighter and certainly acoustically better version. But I miss the Lin Biviano top at the end.

  • This sax solo kicks the other version's ass hardcore. I love how the bassist playing funk over Buddy Rich's signature quick swing style...it works so damned well, that juxtaposition. I always loved the Buddy Rich big band stuff where he had electric bassists.

  • @FablesOfFaubus the other version being off of his album "Time Being" which I believe you also posted. Thanks for putting this stuff on youtube!!!

  • buddy's da man!:)xxxxxx

  • possibly the greatest jazz drummer of all time

  • does anyone know who played bass?

  • this song kicks total ass

  • awesome
