While riding linehaul towboats,we'd always get a thrill when the Captain or pilot would tell us on the intercom that "The Delta Queen's passing down the starboard side".We'd all go out to wave and watch.I know a guy who almost caused the DQ to roll over at the St Louis lock while he played Charlie Pride's "Roll on,Mississippi".

This song should be released as a CD single with the proceeds going to help save the Delta Queen. I know I'm interested in buying a copy.

I live in Natchez, Ms. I am only 27 years old but I can remember, since I was a little girl the beautiful and majestic sights and sounds that the Delta Queen brought to my small river-side town. Its a part of our history that should not be destroyed. It brings visitors to our community and helps boost our local economy. Natchez will truly be missing a part of its history if we loose her. Please save her!

Thank you Dan Landau and others for caring enough to fight the whims of 2 congressmen who are using their preference for Unions above the real issue of the bill, which is safety. The safety of the DQ has never been in question, as certified regularly by the Coast Guard.

That isn't enough. Anyone can say anything. If you want your point of view to be taken seriously, you need to provide competent evidence that supports your statement. She was built to travel on rivers, she has a hull, she floats, and the United States Government (Coast Guard) recently certified, in writing, that she is safe. Plus, she's been on the ocean as well as the Panama Canal. So tell us, please, why doesn't she belong on a river?

She is as safe or safer than the boats that ply the river now. The Coast Guard is not a fly bye night group. The have strengent rules and would NOT certify her (DQ)if she weren't worthy of being certified.

I don't know why you would make a statment like this.

Not only is she worthy of being on the river, she is a part of our disappearing history. History that we river folk hold very dear. History that needs to stay on the river for the generations to come.

Interestingly enough - not all music has to hit the top 10. Some music conveys the emotions many of us feel about the Delta Queen. I am very surprised your guitar teacher does not recognize the many values of music.

I grew in Natchez, Mississippi. As far back as I can remember the Delta Queen has been stopping in Natchez. Let's keep this beautiful majestic queen alive!
