I think the quality of life for most ancestors of the Taino Indians has actually gone up within the last 500 years thanks to European contact. Maybe the arrival of Columbus wasn't such a bad thing after all.

@chamukoboi After doing some research you will notice that before europeans set foot on the america's, the first nations tribes were warring with each other. For example the bella bella tribes were always being atttacked, raped and enslaved by the Haida. The Incas did the same to the chochapoyas tribe. My point is that war exists in every culture.
