thats the best pan to use too, I have the exact same one. Would never go back to useing the other ones. The high ridges are great, you can shake out alot faster.
@Discokid715 The gold is floating because there is a very slight amount of oil in the pan. Your idea of using dawn is just perfect, then (as it is an emulsifier).
thanks for the offer seanengman im moving to alpine wyoming in may and plan to do some prospecting in the carriboo area of idaho you familair with that area.my girls folks have some land between boise and nampa idaho would like to learn that area.i also have a 2 inch dredge we will have to figure something out .
I mine a lot in Eastern Washington, North Idaho and in the Boise Basin. You didn't do too bad. I don't know if you can email me through this, but if you want to go play with dredge (2" and 5") I am always looking for a second man to work with.
get it all down to one end of the pan, and tap the other end of the pan. Watch the gold move upward, seperating from the black sand, or dry it, and use a small magnate to seperate blk snd fm gold...good luck. I think you're right. The best is yet to come.
i thought gold doesnt float?

looks like your gold is floating. put a drop of dawn in the panning water to break the surface tension and it wont do that anymore.
