  • best ww2 soviet fighter.

  • This is a great fighter .)

  • Spitfire MK XIV was also very fast with a service radius and ceiling way above the rest

  • In my opinion the LA-7 could very well be the best dogfighter below 5k of WWII. Fast, high rate of climb, amazing roll rate all behind a round engine. If I were a figher pilot during WWII, and I didnt need to go far, I'd choose this little airplane over just about anything else.

  • La-7 shoot down even 2x P-51 mustangs by the hand of russian ace Ivan Kozhedub.

  • my fav plane in il2 :)

  • @AIVger My favourite plane as well

  • Can someone say whether the La7 was more feared by the German pilots? More so than say the the Yaks?

  • @mistersmith6000

No.. The real Yak9U was the aircraft to fear from low to high, Yak3 for low .

The La7 was also a great aircraft ..

  • @mistersmith6000 nobody cares about the planes!..they scared about shit red asses ruSSians!...

  • One of the prettiest planes ever (beside Bf 109, P-51 and MiG-3)!

  • nice lavochka 5***** ...pitty a can't understand what they say

  • The La7 was a very good fighter.

    One of the best ww2-fighters.

  • The german plane TA-152 H,the best plane of 2.World War. Maximum speed of the TA-152-H :760km /h. P-51 no chance ,also the fast LA-7 .

  • Хорош!!! Летный танк :)

  • USArCOWARDS you are so wrong...

  • Lavochkin series were not slow! Are you reffering to Il-2 attack plane?

Lavochkin was one of the fastest prop plane in 1944-1945

  • Try picking up a book.

  • The Soviets had talented pilots...but hurried, and inadequate training as well as crude aircraft. The La-5 and -7 were easily the best best fighters they flew--if you don't count the lend-lease aircraft like the P-51 and Spitfires. Stalin was a jackass and FDR wasn't far behind him.

  • @DDiscus54 Quoted for truethness. However one little remark. The Soviet Union used only the P-39 P-40 and Hurricanes as the main lendlease types. Other types (P-51, Spit, P47)were tested and evaluated, but were operated only in very small quantities and mostly not directly at the front.

  • @DDiscus54 And also, their types (La and Yak, next to the P-39) were the ones suited for the kind of war on the eastfront, were in that situation the La, Yak and P-39 were considered better than P-51 and Spits. But that has it's own reasons, and that's already another discussion.

  • It had armour on its under side.

Making it perfect for tank destroying runs

  • It shot down 3100 german aircraft for the loss of only 115 la 7. The top scoring allied pilots flew it.

  • BTW, of those 115, only half were due to ennemy figthers.

  • And don't forget, that in those 3100, there are +- 1200 destroyed on the ground...

  • ImTheMightyOne,

Man you need read more about this.. And grow the other half of a brain.. one more insult to anyone here and i'll block you again and will again and again. You want to speak about a plane go ahead..

    Thank you.

  • Was the La 7 the best aircraft in ww2?

    Possibly.

  • Surely at the top, with other top notch fighters.

  • It had no armour which is its main down point and lacked power.

But as a tank killer i dont think it was matched by anything else in WW2

  • What? Are you talking about La-7?

  • Yeah.

I heard it was like the zero of japan.

    Next to no armour.

Very little power but very agile.

  • Lol, ya know La-7 (and for that matter all the lavochkins) HAD armour! And where did you hear such a thing? You might be reffering to Yak-3/9, concerning the engine. La-7 had an 1850 hp Shvetsov engine. Early and mid yaks had around 1200. Late yaks (like Yak-9U, and Yak-3U) had 1600-1700hp engine.

  • DmitriyUA,

    LA7 Had armour where?

    On the under carrige.

On top and side it had a great big fat zero armour as far as im aware.

It was used to attack ground units.

It was a typical multirole for its day just like the Eurofighter is.

  • It is true Vruk88 , good post , B-20 canons were the successor of Schvak , some La-7 were equipped with 3 canon B-20 in late 1944

  • La-7 was the fastest Soviet plane though , not accelerating to combat speed as fast as Yak-3 and nor was keeping its speed in turns as good because of Yaks were more aerodynamic , but La-7 could fight higher , manoeuvre better at higher speed above 500km/h , was better in dives and had better armament , Soviet Schvak was the best 20mm canon , very accurate with long barrel and high velocity

  • Actually, I think the Berezin B-20 cannon was better - it was lighter, it fired the same bullets as the Shvak, but at higher velocity.

Would be nice to see some vids of the post-war, all metallic La-9 and -11. They were splendid planes.

  • Great plane , i value Yak-3 higher because it was more reliable , more agile , easier to fly and better for bomber escorts (bombers win wars , not fighters ) , but no doubt La-7 was one of the very best fighters of WWII , great aerial superiority machine , and impressive performances even above 5000 meters .

  • I named my cat Lavochkin!

  • handsome and manuvrable plane

  • Great video! I really wish I spoke russian though :-(

  • yeah me too!

  • Бред ппц

  • 4.

The best russian ace Ivan Kozhedub had been shaked down 17 planes in 6 months till the end of war on la7 (including 1 Me262).

    it was made 10000 la5 and 6000 la7 in a whole.

  • 3.

on testing time in 1944 russian pilots on la7 had destroyed 55 FW-190 in 18 fights. only 4 la7 was lost - La7 was faster then FW-190 either on horizontal or vertical flight.

Germany had a chance. above 26000 of planes were produced in 1944. but majority of german aces, who would be able to resist, were killed, but novices wouldn't...

  • 2. la5 hadn't enough ventilation in cockpit - the inside temperature sometimes grew up to 50C. all this problems wasn't solved on la7 too.

but in spite of this la7 was the best russian fighter made till WW2 and one of the best fighters of WW2. it was perfect in weight and aerodynamics and was on top among piston planes.

pilots said that it's speed and vitality let to fight with any quantity of aliens alone.

  • 1.

yes - they say that there was too little of fuel for la5. but plane would be too heavy with additional tanks. so they modified construction by using duralumin instead of wood.

also there was some changes in aerodynamics. but weapons and engine were same on la5.

handling was the main problem on la5. for ex. russian pilots had to do 8 movements istead of 1 on fw-190. it was a real problem in fight.

  • It's a UFO, ho yes it is!!!

  • I have just been inspired to finish my model La-7, video to come.

  • I just love this plane! Where on earth did you get this footage?

  • Beautiful and interesting video!

But i can't understand too much because the russian language...so if you can and have time...may you put some subtitle in english pls?

Keep up with the good work! ;-)

  • Not sure waht they are saying, but i think they couldn't find a bigger engine for the La-5 and ended up refining the aerodynamics and construction to aid speed and handling - then the La-7 was born.
