I saw both the swedish and U.S. versions. I COMPLETELY agree that Rooney Mara was the perfect Lisbeth. I was so sad she did not with an oscar but hopefully 1 of the next 2 movies will get her one(if they make them). Daniel Craig was also perfect for Mikael, he had the james bond sex appeal that a womanizer should have, unlike the Mikael in the Swedish version. I left the theater with the rape scene BURNED into my mind. David Fincher did a wonderful job illustrating the book to the big screen
What do you think would happen if Rooney Mara's Lisbeth Salander hooked up with Ryan Gosling's "The Driver" character from 'Drive'? They could start some real chaos.
It would be a small miracle for the Swedish version to impress me now, after having seen Fincher's vision. It left me breathless. Rooney's performance was for me akin to Christoph Waltz's performance in 'Inglorious Basterds' -- outstanding, in the fullest sense. I can't imagine any Academy voter in their right mind giving the Oscar to anybody other than Rooney Mara.
@Scrumpilump2000 Oh my goodness, A-fucking-MEN! Meryl has a large chance of winning, simply because she is Meryl. She is one of my favourite two actresses (Rooney Mara is the second). But I honestly believe that Rooney Mara deserves this award.
@junototoro Yes. Meryl was great, and about time she received an Oscar, but I honestly feel that this year belonged to Rooney Mara. Millions of other people agree. That alone is enough praise to create an Oscar for her (metaphorically speaking, of course lol).
In my opinion Rooney did it better, because in the books Lisbeth always has no expression in her face when she talks with other people and her behaviour is somehow strange and bizarre so for me personally Rooney did a better job on that while Noomi had always anger in her expressions and was way more human and normal. You wouldn´t say she has asperger when you look at Noomi :/
Both Noomi and Rooney had different takes on Lisbeth, and I think both are fine and equally as valid. Rooney's was more vulnerable I felt. She conveyed her fear and uncertainty much more through her eyes, which fit the version because of the script (e.g. the very last scene). She felt a bit more human, and although most of the time she was emotionless, a person can't suppress every supposedly "weak" emotion. I think Noomi had more of a mask.
I liked Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander, but I prefer Noomi Rapace anyway. Sometimes, Rooney Mara made Lisbeth look like she was scared, because of the emotions in her eyes. I like the fact that the Sweedish Lisbeth looks taughter. Just my opinion.

@paziis yeah, i finished reading millenium 3 yesterday. This is a real swedish thriller, it gives you time to guess what's gonna happen next. And lol, it says quite frankly that Lisbeth has always one facial expression on her face, rooney fucked her up in the movie. but since she pierced her nipples and did some sex scenes, she's ought to be nominated for major awards!
@MetallicSisters When I was reading this comment, all I could think was: Ehhh... NO. I never liked Lisbeth interpretation in the swedish version, I kinda hate it. But I have to recognize I didn't see the whole trilogy, for the same reason. I didn't like THAT Lisbeth. But whatever, is your own vision of the character. Maybe 'cause I read it years ago, before the swedish films, I have a strong idea of how lisbeth, at least for me, is. And Rooney made it real.
according to the book she is 4'11'' weights 90lb & at first glance people think she is a child. she looks tiny & fragile until people see the look in her eyes or become aware of her intellectual genius or her physical skills. in the book she also dresses differently at times, in short skirts and striped socks, colored shirts & clownish make up. @McFlyLover92 Umm.... Rooney's performance as Lisbeth was met with widespread critical acclaim, INCLUDING Golden Globe AND Academy Award nominations! (And by "critical", I meant professional critics who know what they are talking about).
@MadonnasMrDj yeah, well that's simply 'cus she's an american... I don't see a reason why Rooney would get a prize in the swedish academy awards? -- and yeah, Noomi got that, so I guess they're both award winners?
Anyone with some level of intelligence would be able to easily understand that BOTH Noomi and Rooney's performances provided adequate representation of Larsson’s amazing creation of Lisbeth.
All this bickering and fighting over which was better just shows how stupid those who argue it are.
I swear to God I'm soo done dealing with idiots. And the sad part is, you'd think you could avoid them with something as intellectually stimulating as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", but I guess not.
I heard a rumour that Daniel & Rooney slept together and were pretty much dating during the making of the film but then Daniel started dating Rachel and now APPARENTLY Rooney doesn't talk to him unless she absolutely has to. Dunno if it's true though.
@xoflesh Of course, I did not expect any "PROOF". I used that word in the sense of contempt at rumour. I know it is fun for you , but really is stupid spreading rumors in which, you must admit, you do not believe. I mean, Daniel and Rooney were lovers in real life because they had sex scenes in movie? Really??
just watched the film. fantastic. its definitely different but in a good way expressing itself very uniquely. I enjoyed this film considering the movies I have watched in the last couple months have demonstrated a saturation of film ideology. The film market is just not producing original ideas any more but thankfully I have hope after watching the girl with dragon tattoo.
@MadonnasMrDj You don't have to call anyone stupid to make your point. I never said Rooney was a horrible Lisbeth, I just said that to ME Noomi was much better. And YES I did read the books and I believe that what Lisbeth says is "I'm going to take him" and not "Can I kill him?". Now...to compare Noomi Rapace's performance to "Joan Jett with a hangover"... sorry but you're the one who looks stupid saying that... Just show some respect to an incredibly talented and worldwide recognized actress.
@MadonnasMrDj the REAL lisbeth salander would NEVER have asked for permission to kill a kiiller of women like in the american version... noomi's lisbeth had more balls than rooney's lisbeth... plus the sweedish actors are more... HUMAN. I mean James Bond as Mikael Blomkvist? but hey... that's MY opinion...
@tunes4life100 Yes, she would have. Did you not read the series? What did Holger Palmgren teach Lisbeth? Think about the outcome of your actions. She would say this to herself throughout the book. Are you that stupid? Noomi's Lisbeth was just Joan Jett with a hangover.
Rooney Mara is Lisbeth Salander. Disagree all you want, you know I'm right.
@MadonnasMrDj I agree with you Lisbeth is more human in the book she analyse her actions and It's not completely unsensible or uncaring as many people make her to be they should read the books also Blomkvist is Craig I imagined him as a 40 year old journalist whith a certain kind of a sex appeal , in the sweedish version that blomkvist had no sex appeal at all
@HaleLightning I feel bad for saying this (about Nyquist), but you are right. He and the actress who played Erika Berger seemed off- especially Christer Malm!
David Fincher is a visionary for a reason, and his casting choices prove that.
@tunes4life100 I think both Lisbeth's have their own charm. I think Rooney was more weirdly cute where Noomi was more tough and charming. I liked both of their takes on Lisbeth equally and I can't say I liked either more or less. Both are very good actors. I also didn't mind Craig as Blomkvist. He suited the description well (the accent? I just assume his version lived in London for a long time!)
@selty Lisbeth is sometimes described as a fragile child giving the appeareance of being vulnerable so yeah let's say she is a little bit adorable , not too much just a little but she could also be hard on someone who she thinks It's not right (in this case men who hate women) so yeah rooney did an excelent job to me she is lisbeth
@tunes4life100 im pretty sure in the book she did ask if she could kill him... and i just finished reading the book yesterday so its fresh in my mind...
@tunes4life100 It is your opinion. But I'm going to have to agree with MadonnasMrDj on this one. Rooney Mara's Lisbeth was the Lisbeth from the books. Fincher's intention wasn't to make Lisbeth a super ballsy killer. Side note: if you knew anything about Rooney Mara, despite the fact that her family is a lineage of money and legacy, she is extremely down to earth and very much HUMAN.
for the most part i agree that lisbeth would not have asked anyone permission to take any action. she would have considered the consequences & then make a decision herself. i also thought that was out of character. but he had become a trusted friend at that point so perhaps she might have asked for his perspective, as someone more grounded in the world of convention & legality. the swedish actors were more "regular," but i thought the u.s. production was far superior.
you all have apsolutely no idea.. i'm sorry but obviusely, people, read the books again.. and again.. and then you will see that this girl has nothing common with lisbeth's character. come on, look at her for god's sake.
@vivianeremm she has a lot in common with her its just that your one of those strict people who complain whenever the girl has 23 strands of hair when there should only be 22.
@vivianeremm its just different to you because you cant see her take her time and read her thoughts as you can in the book since the writer is telling you her deep thinking. in the movie they didnt choose to go the first person narrator route so they couldnt have her pauses and they had to keep her dialouge move the story forwards since they have a time limit
@vivianeremm but i bet if they went first person narrator route in the movie youd be pissed because the story isnt told in first person. so go screw yourself
oh, and you know how hard is it, don't you? screw you, i'm not telling all this because i hate her or something, she is just no good for this part, and if you can't see that don't read any more. until now, she was anonimus actress, getting her almost naked in some cheap movies for 10 minute part, maybe you got hot on her bacause of that, but i recommend you to shut up because obviusely you don't read carefully or you're blind.
@vivianeremm probably the only way you can make the character just like the book would be if they filmed it with first person narrative or pulp fiction style where it goes to this persons point of view and then this person's like the book. but again the second thing that i mentioned would be nearly impossible to do in a movie. so they should have made each books into a mini series or something so that they can capture everything and then you could see lisbeth inside and out
i disagree. i thought that rooney's portrayal captured the essence of the character more closely. i thought that the acting & film making in the u.s. version were truly superior in quality than the swedish version.
I thought Rooney Mara made a better Lisabeth... In fact I thought the remake was closer to the books. I would have hated it if they didn't film it in Sweden.
noomi maybe is oldier, but she at least was a bit better, rooney is terrible as lisbeth, like i already said, i've read the book at least 20 times, and rooney done it bad. read it again and you will see what i'm telling you, that's not lisbeth's look or attitude. sorry but that's the true,
I haven't read the books or saw the Swedish films. I saw the American adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo today and loved it. I will remember this film for a long time. That's how movies should make an audience feel. Such a refreshing change from Hollywood's ridiculous superhero movies that you watch and forget before the credits finish rolling.
I have a bad feeling that Fincher won't agree to it. I feel like he wouldn't want to make the other 2. Maybe he will, but will probably shoot them together. ... maybe? I hope so. He's fantastic.
man-oh-man, not that i gave a fuck about the naysayers, but i am kinda relieved to see that other people also found Mara attractive as Lisbeth because i love her as Lisbeth waaaaaaaaaaay more than any other female character but sooooo many people called me insane. that was even before the film - when i saw her dressed in black as lisbeth on the cover of empire magazine; instant and MASSIVE crush. yes i absolutely adore rooney but as lisbeth....WOW. good to know i'm not alone.
Dude I don't even know if you're a guy, but as a girl, I got a girl-crush on Rooney during the movie. She was freaking insane. I nearly jumped out of my chair during her nude scenes. Yeah there's something about her. LOL
@hautxtalons There most certainly is, yes. and yeah i am a guy contrary to what some of my friends say in addition to "weirdo fag" - curoius isn't it? calling a guy who loves a woman a homosexual. hm. anyway, thanks for replying; again, good to know i'm not alone. even better to know that some girls agree too.
If you check out wikipedia on Rooney's upcoming films, she's been announced as Lisbeth for The Girl Who Played with Fire. Unfortunately Daniel Craig has not been announced yet - probably cause he's in production of another James Bond film (Skyfall).
@hanumanbluemonkey Rooney, Daniel, Zaillian, and Rudin are all signed to do the three films. Fincher is the problem. He's the only one crucial to the series that is not 100% locked in.
I will be forever mad with him if he decides to pass on directing the trilogy, it's his. Any other director would fuck it up bad. We don't need another string of bad adaptions like the Swedish ones. We should start some sort of petition or something.
@MadonnasMrDj I think Fincher is concerned with the integrity of the films. He's not going to commit to 3 films, and then have the corporate assclowns jump in part way through and start messing with things, and then he's already committed. He'll sign on as a film by film basis and make sure they hold true.
@MadonnasMrDj Yes, petition! Honestly, I mean, if Fincher decided to not do the whole trilogy... it would be like he got up and walked away in the middle of screwing me.
@MadonnasMrDj Fincher is contractually committed for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest. The problem is that Fincher is directing 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea when ideally TGWPWF would be shot. I am going to be so bummed if they get another director for The Girl Who Played with Fire. Fincher really took this novel and made it his.
@MadonnasMrDj Well, I love David Fincher (although my friends and I joke and refer to him as "The guy who directed Alien 3 and ruined the franchise") and the series fits him like a glove. But he didn't create the characters nor does he own the franchise.
I would be mad if he does not at least produce or co-direct. There are many other suitable directors but Fincher's obsessive perfectionism made the movie for me.
My God she was the best they could have picked for the role... she was even more bautifull in the movie... a trendsetter character and look. I was stunned
I understand why people were so attatched to Noomi's performance- she was awesome, but a lot of it was because that was the first version of Lisbeth they saw on screen. Apart from that, Rooney clearly fits the role better as far as book appearance so it bothered me that even before people had seen the film they were all "BOOOO! Noomi is Lisbeth forever! This chick sucks! She looks nothing like Lisbeth!" (even though she's perfect for it) But Rooney was phenomenal and proved them all wrong. (:
Rooney Mara is amazing , I've never heard of this book or film before but I went to the movie theather last week and didn't know what to watch so I just picked this movie ! And OMG THAT'S ONE OF THE MOVIES I'VE EVER SEEN ! I'm reading the book now and planing to watch the swedish version !!
it pisses me off that meryl streep will win the oscar by default just because she's meryl streep. but deep down i know that rooney mara will deserve it over her.
I know this girl who looks exactly like Rooney mara. No joke she has the exact same face and body almost. She even has the hair and piercings. She's a bitch and a whore though lol
I dont know about anyone else, but as Salander, there was something oddly atttactive about Rooney. I mean, she's attractive anyway, but she fit Lisbeth so well. And looked amazing.
@Onamorata Yeah. If you've read the series, you would know that Noomi Rapace was NOTHING like the character (well, she is Swedish, that's about it).
Rooney absolutely NAILED it!!! I loved this film so much, that I've seen it THREE TIMES already! I plan on seeing it many more times before the Oscars!
The only thing I couldn't stand was watching the *intense* things that happen to Lisbeth- I had to close my eyes. I loved when she got her revenge though. I actually smiled.
@MadonnasMrDj Yeah.. It was ah, hard to watch. But, thats what Fincher does. Its meant to feel uncomfortable. She should get her Golden Globe and hopefully an Oscar. I think Rooney's role as Salander will get the recognition that Heath Ledger got for the Joker.
@Onamorata Do we follow each other on twitter? Because that is exactly what one of my followers and I were saying about Rooney!
And the film is the new Black Swan: The opening box-office gross was lower than expected, despite receiving overwhelmingly positive critical reviews. The actresses went all the way for their characters and they totally blew people away with the performance. The film (and Rooney) will only be receiving more recognition in the following weeks.
I just, think she is so great. And she is so goddamn hot in this movie. I was pretty surprised by the gross at the box office. I thought it would of got much more. But, thats cool, Im definitely going to go see it again.
@MadonnasMrDj This film absolutely beats black swan... and Rooney was so strangely and wantingly (if thats the word) attractive and fitting for the role that I now have regained my lost faith in Hollywood
@MadonnasMrDj I found the revenge actually disturbing... not as disturbing as the rapes obviously, but I wasn't as comforted by the revenge as I thought I would be.
@MadonnasMrDj Please, don't discredit Noomi's work, because she has done an amazing job, especially at making herself as a Lisbeth. On the other hand, I think casting Rooney as Lisbeth was brilliant! I haven't seen the movie yet, but I can't wait to see her, she looks so great in this role. Do you know if they're also gonna make the sequels?
@Gudulpif I never said anything negative about Noomi's dedication to the character, I applaud her for that. What I am saying is that it wasn't as good as it could have been, and it certainly wasn't better that Rooney's.
@MadonnasMrDj i couldnt agree more. truth to be told, i dont get those people who say that noomi is perfect lisbeth because she's definitely not! from her looks to her attitude. horrible. what actually baffles me the most is that she looks too old for the role! 30-smth i would say. wtf? and i dont find her attractive. at all. not in any way. and yes i've read all the books. yay for rooney.
@Onamorata Thank GOD someone else agrees with me! people have been calling me sick and fucking insane because i love her so much as lisbeth (love her waaaaaay more than any other female character, i'll tell you that). Sure some of them conveniently started agreeing with me after the nudity scenes (arrrrrrgh), but i'm glad someone else thinks the same and the fact that you got that many likes for your comment is all the more encouraging.
I agree with kopns about the swedish version of these wonderful books, and Fincher, Mara, Craig, et al NAILED IT....What a great job! I only hope they get the next two made as soon as possible!
Noomi was better, she match better to the discription " thin, alsmost to thin, her face would make a good modelface for makeup without piercings." Ronney isnt really like that, but they both have the coldness that this character have and they cold eyes. But Noomi is more used to play troubled girls, all her films and all her characters have been girls with big problems. So i guess that y i liek her and ofc she is the original, i cant say i dont count that in. Im swedish so ofc i like her better.
errr guys, I've read all the books several times and I know in the US you can go and see this film with an adult, no problem, however in the UK, it's an 18 and it doesn't work that way! So anyways to get into the cinema? :P
@giodashorts I disagree, I thought this version of the film showed moment of vulnerability many times with Lisbeth, especially around Mikael. It was subtle but definitely there. This was the better adaptation. It stayed true to the book and for people that haven't read them or have, either way, it retained some of what I consider necessary plot points that the Swedish one left out.
@amschafe85 Yeah you're right. After watching the Swedish films again I can agree, they are both totally different films, and I was glad Fincher directed it. They both are really good films, but Fincher's version is more accurate to the book.
I think the original is brilliant and Noomi Rapace makes an amazing Lisbeth. I'm sure that this version will be great too, and that Rooney Mara will rise to the challenge. Both lisbeth's may be as good as each other,.
I can't help but smile at the fact that Rooney was made for this part, and vice-versa! She is going to blow all of the naysayers and Noomi fans out of the f*cking Svenska water! She is perfect!
you must be kidding me???? this girl is so terrible, noomi is not great either, but in any case is better than this girl, i read all millenum books for at least 20 times, and i know for sure that either rooney or noomi is even close to be lisbeth salander, and i know that stieg larsson would be disapointed too. so don't talk stupid things, this is just an fucked try to make a movie ad charachters by books, everyone who read the book will agree with me.
@lakylik11 i read the book and i dont agree with you. you dont know how hard it is to transfer books to movies. and you fucking ''i know hed hate it'' ah shut the fuck up
Haha, don't make me laugh. I saw the american film yesterday at the movies (I've seen the swedish before), and even though I have to admit that she (Rooney) gave it her best try, she can't in a million years compare to what Noomi did for the character of Lisbeth Salander! Noomi IS Lisbeth Salander, Rooney tries to be her. There's a big difference between the two! I did like Rooney as long as she kept her mouth shut though, it was her faint and script-like voice who ruined it!
I can't wait to see this....I've seen the Swedish version and it was great. And I can already tell I'm going to have to download the soundtrack to this as soon as it comes out.
I prefer Rooney as Lisbeth. Her Lisbeth look is more 'ugly pretty' while Noomi is more 'pretty pretty'. Also, Rooney is proof that ' its not what you know, its who you know.'
I saw both the swedish and U.S. versions. I COMPLETELY agree that Rooney Mara was the perfect Lisbeth. I was so sad she did not with an oscar but hopefully 1 of the next 2 movies will get her one(if they make them).

HUMAN. I mean James Bond as Mikael Blomkvist? but hey... that's MY opinion...
tunes4life100 1 month ago

I just assume his version lived in London for a long time!)
selty 1 month ago
@selty Again: Exactly.
Jvideos550 1 month ago
@selty Lisbeth is sometimes described as a fragile child giving the appeareance of being vulnerable so yeah let's say she is a little bit adorable , not too much just a little but she could also be hard on someone who she thinks It's not right (in this case men who hate women) so yeah rooney did an excelent job to me she is lisbeth

@tunes4life100 yes but lisbeth having balls is not how the book is written. Rooney mara's version of lisbeth fit the novel much more accurately.

Am I the only one who thinks both Roney and Noomi were fantastic and both movies are awesome?
diversaoemdobro 1 month ago 2
@tunes4life100 It is your opinion. But I'm going to have to agree with MadonnasMrDj on this one. Rooney Mara's Lisbeth was the Lisbeth from the books. Fincher's intention wasn't to make Lisbeth a super ballsy killer. Side note: if you knew anything about Rooney Mara, despite the fact that her family is a lineage of money and legacy, she is extremely down to earth and very much HUMAN.
44killerqueen99 4 weeks ago
@tunes4life100
for the most part i agree that lisbeth would not have asked anyone permission to take any action. she would have considered the consequences & then make a decision herself. i also thought that was out of character. but he had become a trusted friend at that point so perhaps she might have asked for his perspective, as someone more grounded in the world of convention & legality. the swedish actors were more "regular," but i thought the u.s. production was far superior.
lamaddussa 3 weeks ago
she absolutely GOT that character, absolutely wonderful and real!

you all have apsolutely no idea.. i'm sorry but obviusely, people, read the books again.. and again.. and then you will see that this girl has nothing common with lisbeth's character. come on, look at her for god's sake.
vivianeremm 1 month ago
@vivianeremm she has a lot in common with her its just that your one of those strict people who complain whenever the girl has 23 strands of hair when there should only be 22.
anessone 1 month ago
@vivianeremm its just different to you because you cant see her take her time and read her thoughts as you can in the book since the writer is telling you her deep thinking. in the movie they didnt choose to go the first person narrator route so they couldnt have her pauses and they had to keep her dialouge move the story forwards since they have a time limit
anessone 1 month ago
@vivianeremm but i bet if they went first person narrator route in the movie youd be pissed because the story isnt told in first person. so go screw yourself
anessone 1 month ago
@anessone
oh, and you know how hard is it, don't you? screw you, i'm not telling all this because i hate her or something, she is just no good for this part, and if you can't see that don't read any more. until now, she was anonimus actress, getting her almost naked in some cheap movies for 10 minute part, maybe you got hot on her bacause of that, but i recommend you to shut up because obviusely you don't read carefully or you're blind.
vivianeremm 1 month ago
@vivianeremm probably the only way you can make the character just like the book would be if they filmed it with first person narrative or pulp fiction style where it goes to this persons point of view and then this person's like the book. but again the second thing that i mentioned would be nearly impossible to do in a movie. so they should have made each books into a mini series or something so that they can capture everything and then you could see lisbeth inside and out
anessone 1 month ago
@vivianeremm
i disagree. i thought that rooney's portrayal captured the essence of the character more closely. i thought that the acting & film making in the u.s. version were truly superior in quality than the swedish version.
lamaddussa 3 weeks ago
I thought Rooney Mara made a better Lisabeth... In fact I thought the remake was closer to the books. I would have hated it if they didn't film it in Sweden.

hanumanbluemonkey 1 month ago 6
@hanumanbluemonkey Rooney, Daniel, Zaillian, and Rudin are all signed to do the three films. Fincher is the problem. He's the only one crucial to the series that is not 100% locked in.
I will be forever mad with him if he decides to pass on directing the trilogy, it's his. Any other director would fuck it up bad. We don't need another string of bad adaptions like the Swedish ones. We should start some sort of petition or something.
I love David Fincher!

@MadonnasMrDj wow, the swedish versions are great. i dont get what you are talking about at all
OralAgreement69 1 month ago 2
@MadonnasMrDj I think Fincher is concerned with the integrity of the films. He's not going to commit to 3 films, and then have the corporate assclowns jump in part way through and start messing with things, and then he's already committed. He'll sign on as a film by film basis and make sure they hold true.
PremiumPIus 1 month ago
@MadonnasMrDj Yes, petition! Honestly, I mean, if Fincher decided to not do the whole trilogy... it would be like he got up and walked away in the middle of screwing me.
MinnieMou5e 1 month ago
@MadonnasMrDj Fincher is contractually committed for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest. The problem is that Fincher is directing 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea when ideally TGWPWF would be shot. I am going to be so bummed if they get another director for The Girl Who Played with Fire. Fincher really took this novel and made it his.
tmolusable 1 month ago
@MadonnasMrDj Well, I love David Fincher (although my friends and I joke and refer to him as "The guy who directed Alien 3 and ruined the franchise") and the series fits him like a glove. But he didn't create the characters nor does he own the franchise.
I would be mad if he does not at least produce or co-direct. There are many other suitable directors but Fincher's obsessive perfectionism made the movie for me.

Rooney absolutely NAILED it!!! I loved this film so much, that I've seen it THREE TIMES already! I plan on seeing it many more times before the Oscars!
The only thing I couldn't stand was watching the *intense* things that happen to Lisbeth- I had to close my eyes. I loved when she got her revenge though. I actually smiled.
MadonnasMrDj 2 months ago 36
@MadonnasMrDj Yeah.. It was ah, hard to watch. But, thats what Fincher does. Its meant to feel uncomfortable. She should get her Golden Globe and hopefully an Oscar. I think Rooney's role as Salander will get the recognition that Heath Ledger got for the Joker.
Onamorata 2 months ago 11
@Onamorata Do we follow each other on twitter? Because that is exactly what one of my followers and I were saying about Rooney!
And the film is the new Black Swan: The opening box-office gross was lower than expected, despite receiving overwhelmingly positive critical reviews. The actresses went all the way for their characters and they totally blew people away with the performance. The film (and Rooney) will only be receiving more recognition in the following weeks.
Fincher's snowball effect.

The only problem with this version of Lisbeth was that she didn't have the humanity that Lisbeth had in the Swedish films.
giodashorts 2 months ago
@giodashorts I disagree, I thought this version of the film showed moment of vulnerability many times with Lisbeth, especially around Mikael. It was subtle but definitely there. This was the better adaptation. It stayed true to the book and for people that haven't read them or have, either way, it retained some of what I consider necessary plot points that the Swedish one left out.
