Fareed is acting like a typical american here. He is only viewing any threat as legitimate if it is a threat to the US. Pakistan's greatest threat is from India and not the Taliban and so Musharraf is doing the right thing by focusing on India. @mafiadon2000 The US made the Taliban, funded and trained them and taught them to use religion as a support system during the Russian invasion in the 80s. The taliban was a US proxy army during the cold war and have now become the proverbial "chickens coming home to roost". The US demands to be paid for work done and so should Pakistan. What they do is not free nor should it be. US power is the main destablizer in the region and if US stayed out, problems would cease to exist as well.

Musharraff was a good President of Pakistan. From what I know of him, he decided to keep good ties with the west and implement many Western Idea's in Pakistan whilst keeping the Pakistani Islamic tradition alive at the same time. He also stood against India, and did not let India to use their dirty politics against the Pakistanis.

Good president? What good ties with the US? He didnt do shit when we requested repeatedly to take control of the border with afghanistan, I think we surely can blame him for all the ISAF and civilian deaths for 7-8 yrs. Its only the new president that imitated incursions into the tribal areas not Musharraf. He has his hands tied with the taliban and its supporters. Look at Pakistan today, because of Musharraf's blind eye, the new government is having a tough time with the Taliban.
