  • 4:32 to the end is inspiring & so, so true!

  • @Jenkins1155

People where very much awake in that time. only it was much darker. But if you look at history you see that there is a sleep/wake cycle.

  • @prophecyjoris Roughly what do you equate the wave cycle to be? Every 20, 60, 100 years??

  • Other Dude had his mind BLOWN ;)

  • This is the shit! If you have done your research, this fits to a perfect point

  • @arge717

Dead straight & it was written over 30 years ago ~ seems more pertinent now than it did back then.

  • Is he talking about Avatarism? "centers where we can go" Anybody ever hear the psychological ideas of living an inauthentic life from Michael Tsarion? Any possible merit to this? INTERESTING THOUGHTS

  • Wow..

  • Thank you for this.

  • weed is the language or DMT :D

  • Weed is the answer. We all just need to smoke more pot.

  • @anthonymongo yep. you got it. we all need to smoke more pot. yep

  • this is amacing friends.wow i must say.we are the light, and we are all starting to shine so bright.love from denmark

  • Wow, this movie was made in 1981, I didn't think anyone was awake to the truth back then. What he is saying is the truth. Now is the time for everyone to wake up.

  • The audio here may not be as great as the other videos, but I've watched about 4 others and this is the version I'll be sharing with all my online friends.

Thanks scott, for not editing this to fit your own narrow agenda! It speaks for itself, no added floating text or shoehorned pictures needed!

  • Thus, the creation of schools like ours. Nothing frees one from the current paradigm, empowers folks to own their own lives and choices, more than being connected to the natural world.

  • wow, this conversation could have happened yesterday! It is so right on the ways things are headed today.

    Wake up America.

  • Occupy and create a "pocket of light"

  • Amazing! Got me right in the heart!

  • to @Myrtle79, you have to look beyond Obama Myrtle otherwise your just watching them wag the dog, which is exactly what they want you to do. Thats why they have two parties. They are both minions of The Powers That Be, which are The One World Order. While the Democrats and the Republicans are taking pot shots at each other business goes on as usual with TPTB. Kennedy moved away from the tyrants and ended up with a bullet in his head. We are waking up, thats what the 99% is all about.

  • @32Rockie Good post!!

  • It's amazing how crazy it sounded at the time and how spot on it sounds today. They must have known something.

  • IT's called the NEW WORLD ORDER... We are already in the new world order. People here need research

  • I saw this movie in 1988 maybe '87 and I thought Andre was on to something. Now that I'm almost 50 I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter what power broker is in "power" some things just wont change.

Hope never, ever goes away...the truth is that we'll all know in due time.

Hey, someday we'll all be standing before the Man and I think we'll all be responsible for our part in this weird mosaic called life.

  • What are the issues you have with our society that would cause this frustration?

  • if you like this video check out the zeitgeist movement

  • Incredible.

    Absolutely incredible.

These words are perhaps the truest ever spoken.

Lucky for us, the act of waking up and realizing this is an enlightening one.

  • we are already inside the system, behind the firewalls - already we are on our way to the kernel: Nothing can stop us now.

We, We will smash this world built on lies.

  • Holy shit! this guy has been saying what ive thought for years

  • I loved this film. Kudos to Louis Malle for getting me interested in a close to 2 hour film of 2 men talking about life and what it means to really live it. I loved hearing their different points. I found myself agreeing at times with both opposite opinions. It left me very depressed. We are definitely busy bodies with our heads in the ground trying to collect money to survive and not really questioning our existence.

  • Puts me in mind of the difference between those who love Barack Obama and those who hate him. The lobotomized among us are the haters. To those of us who love him, he brings "the light" into our lives. When I hear some of his speeches, I find myself tearing up, and I'm a 70-yr.-old white guy!

  • @Myrtle791 He works for private interests and not American people and you say you're 70, so what would you know if you don't even have the will to examine the fact's.

    Besides speeches are not everything.

  • (Matthew, Chapter 7, verses 1 & 2.) This mystifies me. I'm being excoriated about something I composed 10 months ago, in response, apparently, to a comment somebody made that I don't see here, in this YouTube segment containing, "My Dinner With Andre' " that I didn't know was here. When I read the review of this movie, I hoped I'd get a chance to watch it, but never did. Now I will. Regarding President Obama, 10 months ago there wasn't as much info as now. I learn what I can within my ability.

  • @Myrtle791 please accept my Apologize i didn't want to be hostile.

It's just frustrating seeing people look up to Obama when he clearly doesn't acer about people.

Watch movies like Obama deception, Fall of the republic, zeitgeist addendum, or listen to G Edward griffin.

That we're not free man and that big corporations pretty much rule and make all the important decisions.

  • Just to let you all know that The Royal Court Theatre in London is showing My Dinner with Andre on Sat 18th April.

  • It seem sort of scary that certain films from the 70's never lost their meaning, even 30+ years down the road.

  • Even scarier is WHY doesn't this film ever get re-shown? Could it be that THEY don't want us to see it again? or New Generations to remain sleep-walking....check-out "The Trap" also.Back-to-film though-do you remember the one with Bruce Dern in Space?

  • Even if they did show it, a sheep will not be awoken by a couple hours of film.

  • Andre TED Talk 1980.

  • Thanks for posting such a special part of this movie. I've been watching it for years, and it never loses its meaning. There is a way. . . I'll die trying.

  • From 4.33 -> the man reminds me of Terence Mckenna.

  • Gay has nothing to do with it. They are two men having a talk thats all...They are both Philsophers. Exchanging thoughts. What better way to spend a evening....

  • Remarkable monologue

  • "this began in the 1960's"

  • I think the movie was made in 1980 but much of it still holds up regarding our self created captivity. Andre's reference to the last burst of humanity in the 1960 seems right but I think we have been under attack much longer.

  • Dates run together - time is an odd phenomenon. Hollywood hints at "Somewhere In Time

    ...I know I was there [in 1912]"

We've replaced our passion with pills.

  • in the titANIC?

  • looks interesting but you'd have to be in the right mood to watch a film of two people in conversation however dazzling.

  • Awesome. You should check out "High Hop Harvey"

  • "extrordinary English tree expert"

    Richard St. Barbe Baker?

  • I met a guy in the 80's that fits very much to the description, but do not remember his name. Awesome man, his specialty among other things was to perform "surgeries" in trees broken by lightning bolts, or physically damaged by other events. He was a philosopher of sorts, so much connected to Ecology and to save the environment that would bring tears of joy to those who would meet him.

  • this film was so interesting, couldnt stop watching

  • A labotamized nation. And manipulated, and brainwashed and dumbed down populas! Wake up,theres more to life then tv! The answer to this 1984 style world is 1776!

Try to think outside the corp. cage.

The so called official story of the events of nine eleven is the conspiracy theory!

  • i really liked this movie.

  • intersting.

  • The end of Waiting for Guffman is way funnier if you've seen this film.

  • you can download it...my daughter did so a couple of weeks ago

  • Criterion Collection has the rights to this film and I can't wait for their edition (hopefully blu-ray). I just wish they would hurry up!

  • This is great can someone also post the part Wally vents his feelings, you know his reply. I felt this movie presents a conversation between two sides of the same coin in terms of the two characters' views on life.

  • absolutely incredible, by the way Gustav bjornstrand is actually a brilliant Swedish actor from the 50's who worked on Bergman's films about human morality and the existence of God

  • That was Gunnar Bjornstrand. But you're right, he was brilliant, and Bergman's work is pretty relevant to the humanist case this film presents.

  • The first 27 seconds of this video is mind opening. Have to see this film

  • It would be great if you could download the rest of this movie. I saw it about five years ago and it shows how conversation can be an art form.

  • these things have to be reminded more frequently, because we humans are so pathetic and oblivious. we want to have a nice experience together on this earth, yes? wasn't that why we came here in the first place? or were we born to doom the planet? it's about time to remember.

  • Wish I could have dinner with him...

  • Me too :) This clip is very interesting - I'd like to watch the film.

  • WAKE UP !! every word he is saying is true!!

  • @gunsbulletsheroin True? Depends. Viewpoint? .... most definitely

  • I believe he almost predicted the success of the web, with his pockets of light theories.

  • hmm, am not sure this refers to the web...

  • this assumes that New York city does not have nature...how can we run from ourselves?

    Paula Gloria

producer, "Farther Down the Rabbit Hole"

    Manhattan Neighborhood Network

  • Criterion is supposed to put a version of this wonderful film next year.

  • I love this film and if Criteron is releaseing it, then it's about time! Good to know, thanks!

  • No problem. Glad to have made your day.

I love this film as well.

  • YES!

  • there goes all the coke...

  • People often get the wrong idea about this film. Its not all about psychobabble or New Age self absorbtion, Andre himself expresses some problems with that later in the film. Its all about a balanced dialogue where the truth lies in between two ideological contrasts.

  • 1) I am almost nostalgic for that 70's narcissistic, self-improvement psychobabble. Almost.

    2) the 70's were a short decade; the 60's lasted until about 73, and the 80's started in about 77... but they sucked. No wonder this monologue (arguably set in the 70's) is such a weird combination of isolationism and surreal hippie idealism.

    3) Americans are too self-obsessed to produce a Guy Debord -- this is as good as we get. Bummer.

  • what about neil postman? if i'm not mistaken he's as american as apple pie... ;)

  • another great movie. they dont make them like that anymore

  • The DVD is out-of-print and sells used for about 100 dollars. I have several copies on DVD-R I will trade or give away for shipping compensation only. Its also worthy of note that the original DVD is not copy protected... you could always buy it, copy it, and then sell it to get your money back!

  • great ...but your account is closed

  • Brilliant film. Wonderful dialogue. Perhaps the new language Andre speaks of is the "new song" of Bible's Revelation, some new understanding and consequently a way of communicating: God is somehow hidden in the equation.

  • I trained Andre Gregory and his daughter Marina.

    Very nice family.

    ABS-olutely,

    DiontheTrainer

  • I love the movie, but it's a rehash of Plato's Cave, Zen, and existentialism by an elitist, slightly paranoid, blowhard. Be genuine, he says, not a robot. Oh, like the poor and the peasants? Cut out all the noise, stop performing all the time and listen to what is inside you. Introspection from an intellectual film-maker, what a surprise. How about compassion, duty, religion, or the search for knowledge, oh wonder-snob? Please, more discussion movies, just not with Andre, okay?

  • i just wanted my electric blanket

  • The changes that have happened in human culture and society since this film was made sadly prove many of what Andre Gregory is saying true. We are living in a commodified prison.

  • Great dialogue. Never even heard of this movie. Going to go off now find it and watch it. Thanx.

  • This is without doubt the greatest film ever made. Its a pity it has not had a DVD release outside the USA and that it is no longer available. I saw a copy sell for $200 recently.

  • The thing sells for $13 at various websites (Comedy Central being one of them, bow before the all-powerful CC). Try froogle. It's put out by Wellspring DVD's, 110 minutes long. Special features: production credits, scene access, filmographies, interactive menus. (so not much in the way of specials) Hope you haven't got only European formatting.

  • I have dvd-r copies for trade or reimbursment.

  • suddenly... you understand everything

  • suddenly... you understand everything

  • This believe it or not is my favorite movie of all time.

  • It's also one of my favorites.

  • so good.

  • Amazing.

  • great film,wonder ican share?
