This was a well-deserved first role for Ms. Osipova. I could even imagine her doing Giselle in her first three weeks let alone Peasant Pas. Bravo, her jumps never seize to amaze me.
Audiences went wild when Osipova danced the title role at the Met last summer with ABT. To read the love letter the New York Times critic wrote, go to the archive of the Times webpage and enter "Osipova Giselle" in Search.
I'm thinking a couple of names: 1. Coupe jete en tournant (RAD terminology I believe) or 2. Emboite (boxed) turns, which is a term I learned here in the States.
this ballerina is the best!! She DANCES in the the purest sense of the word. Her technique is flawless but it is secondary to her musicality and general body movement. The girl is GREAT!!
yes, in the original version peasent pas is not in giselle at all. i believe it was put in to give the ballet more depth. and also partly to give giselle a break, because she dances almost non stop throughout this ballet
why does she end the very last pirouette en fondu efface.. thats really weird, was she meant to? or did she fall out of it, coz thats just a simple pirouette!>?
She is lovely, gives her soul in each movement, and knows how to make the best of any role, thats a real ballerina... anybody knows who was giselle in this performance?...
I think, Osipova will get to be a prima, not just another prima but another assoluta of bolshoi, and she will not retire at a young age... we will have years and years of Osipova I hope... she is todays Maximova or Nina...
This is the best version of the Peasant PDD I've ever seen.
And I agree with sallysgalene:
If I were Giselle, I would feel really embarassed to try and top that. Being the MAIN character of the enitre ballet, and there's Natalia, playing a short role and being seen as better!
I was dancing it 6 years ago, this is one of the hardest PDD i was dancing till now, maybe short, but very important! Its a challengig duet (just look so innocent)and gives you a lot of satisfaction when was done good ;]
Ps. They have made few changes in this one, i had to do oryginal version of it, was fun :)
This is such a beautiful dance, and such beautiful dancers. But one thing...
That cymbol crash on 6:30 made him sound like he landed with a huge thud. I don't know whether that was the orchestra's fault or what, but it was really funny.
But amazing dancers. I love her. She's like a little fairy, just here to there with such ease.
Great post. A carefree high flying Osipova with a perfect partner in Slava.Natalia caused a sensation with Ivan Vasiliev in the Don Q pas' at CUBA's ballet festival in Havana last yr.
Slava Lopatin graduated from the Academy in Voronezh, then he was a probationer at the Moscow Academy. Joined Bolshoi Ballet in 2002. Together with Osipova danced the premiere of La Sylphide by Johan Kobborg (Feb. 20, 2008).
This PDD was missing from the 3D GISELLE movie shown in America. I thought that was a great miss......

i must admit that i might fall in love with her dancing style. it is quite appropriate.

I'm really impressed! She jumps just as high as the man. Usuually the women's jumps are not as high as their partner's, but hers is :) Good job!

I don't rele love her feet but her energy is outstanding. She's the only dancer I truly believe (nowadays) that ENJOYS dancing.

Okay, what is there even to say? She's the perfect ballet dancer. Everything about her dancing is just wonderful.
Did her shoes bother anybody else? I don't know what it is ... they were distracting somethings.

I see that too! His heels aren't hitting the floor

he might have shorter tendons which makes it hard to get the heels all the way to the floor

Another Bolshovish cookie cutter display of extreme bravura and not much more than that. Where is artistry?
